 | | WannaBe: <suenteus po 147> He did not cheat, he 'circumstanced' the position. |
| Aug-04-06 | | brankat: Did You mean to say he "circumsised" the position?:-) I'm back. In better shape then ever, watch out :-) |
| Aug-05-06 | | brankat: Gee! You change Your bios just like <RonB> does wives :-) |
| Aug-05-06 | | brankat: It just occurred to me. If You do plan to attend Gibralter 2008, might as well start swimming now, to make it on time. Have a few dozens of barrels of beer as Your floating device and for food You can catch fish in stride. By the time You hit G. You'll be ready to eat them all alive :-) |
| Aug-05-06 | | suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> That's what I thought you meant to imply originally. |
Aug-05-06
 | | WannaBe: Errr... No. I meant what I wrote. Under that particular circumstances, the Kobayashi Maru was designed as a no-win situation/scenario. Hence Kirk 'circumstanced' the given position. =) |
| Aug-05-06 | | suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> I think you better define your terms, mister. What <exactly> do you mean by 'circumstanced'? |
Aug-06-06
 | | WannaBe: <suenteus po 147> My last post was the best attempt at defining the term as I can do. One may also say that Kirk 'improvised' a solution to a designed no-win situation. That only applies to the Kobayashi Maru, I have no idea how he keeps on beating Spock in 3-D chess. =) |
| Aug-06-06 | | suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> 'Improvised' works for me. Kirk beats Spock on the simple principle that man is still better than the machine. While Spock is capable of calculating with the best computers, he lacks human intuition and the willingness to risk or sacrifice in unclear positions. Kirk, of course, is the Mikhail Tal of Starfleet captains, and you just know he plays chess the way he runs his ship. <of course in the 23rd century this only works in 3D chess, computers had long since solved 2D chess :)> |
| Aug-06-06 | | Zebra: I would really like to see how 7 of 9 plays chess. |
| Aug-06-06 | | JoeWms: Captain Kirk was circumstanced? Gee, I didn't even know he was Jewish. |
| Aug-07-06 | | homedepotov: And Kirk would surely not adopt a sissified Kasparovian anti-computer strategy and go into risk aversive mode against Spock by playing the 3D equivalent of 1. d3. Unlike Kasparov, he would stay true to his macho style. Spock should have asked for a rematch against the Kirk(s) after he (Kirk) split into 2 in the episode "The Enemy Within." Then his winning chances would be better, even with the Kirks in consultation against him. |

| Aug-09-06 | | suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> Eventually you have to let go. Keep what works and cut yourself off from the wake of cancerous growth. Did you see First Contact/Insurrection/Nemesis? Did you watch Voyager and Enterprise? I think you're setting yourself up for heartache, my friend. |
Aug-09-06
 | | WannaBe: <suenteus po 147: Did you see First Contact/Insurrection/Nemesis? Did you watch Voyager...> Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes. =) |
| Aug-11-06 | | suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> It's been a while since our first correspondence game, so I'm challenging you to another one (if you have the time). This time I'll be white :) |
| Aug-11-06 | | Chess Classics: Could you explain (in English) to a not tech savvy guy if it is safe for me to hook up to a wireless connection that I don't know anything about except that it is within the range of my computer? Thanks. Regards,
CC |

Aug-11-06
 | | WannaBe: <suenteus po 147> Oh sure, we doing GameKnot again? Or FEN on forum? Either way is fine. <Chess Classics> Not knowing where you intend to hook up (school/public library? Starbucks? At a public park piggy-back off some office building that's close?) I can't say for sure if it's safe. If you do not have folders that's shared (without password), and your computer (laptop) have password login, you should be OK. Or you can give me some more information. =) |

| Aug-12-06 | | NakoSonorense: What I learned watching Animaniacs is:
"Holaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Enfermeraaaaaaa" =) Guess what it means, wannabe? =) |
Aug-12-06
 | | WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> Errrrr. "Hola, good move, I resign" ? =) |
| Aug-12-06 | | NakoSonorense: You got the "hola" part correct. But the rest was close enough! =S =) |
| Aug-12-06 | | chessmoron: <Nako> Let me help this Spanish illiterate out, "enfermera" is the opposite sex of Gaylord Focker's job. |
| Aug-12-06 | | NakoSonorense: ¡Qué amable de tu parte, <RetrasadoDelAjedrez>! =) Estoy seguro que <QuieroYNoPuedo> aprecia lo que haces por él. |

Being somewhat of a history buff, and a student of the current events, I (do) find this unacceptable. News, and all related employee/employer, should be neutral. If I want to see/read/hear opinions, I'll seek those out. What is (currently) being presented by the (this news) media (Reuter), is (in my opinion) unethical. http://www.aish.com/movies/PhotoFra...
