WannaBe: In case I forgot, congrats to them Lady Bruins. =)) U. Mich (69-63) won, but the last spread I saw was -6.5, so if you took UConn w/ spread, you got very lucky, if you bet on them U. Mich, I feel bad; the O/U was 148.5

WannaBe: <CIO> LOL. I remember those mems... <chancho> North by Norwest, totally agree, the audiences know that the plane scene was filmed earlier and played on a screen behind. It was still drama. Same thing with the Mt. Rushmore chase scene.

WannaBe: ¡Olé! ¡Olé! this is what I see for "¡Olé! ¡Olé!" (game of the day Mar-13-2026) I also know this issue have been around for a while, and it's not that important, in IT term, it is a level 'C', cosmetic fix. But I just wish to report it again. Can CG.com unify this ...

Dec-17-07  YouRang: Best handle - split vote between two oldies but goodies:

<square dance> clever bit of wordplay in the context of chess.

<Resignation Trap> anagram of "Tigran Petrosian"!

Dec-17-07  ahmadov: I would think of a better username if I knew that you would hold such a contest :-)
Dec-17-07  MostlyAverageJoe: Best handle: User: Phony Benoni

jessicafischerqueen: I vote <User: Chess Classics> for best handle.
Dec-17-07  square dance: thanks for the 1/2 vote and nomination, <YouRang>! i'll have to pick up where you left off and add a full vote to <resignation trap>, which sounds cool enough by itself, but is infinitely bolstered by the fact that it is an anagram of one tigran petrosian.

OhioChessFan: Man, I missed nominating <YouRang>?

As for my vote, I just this second figured out what it means, so <mateinonenik> it is.

Dec-17-07  whiteshark: handle handling: a split between <Phony Benoni> and <PolishPentium>. :D
Dec-17-07  square dance: <wannabe> i'd like to make a plea for you to post the caissar winners in your profile if you would. at least until the contest is done. some of us rarely visit the kibitzers cafe. plus, this would be a good way for you to earn some brownie points for "most helpful kibitzer". ;-)

I have a <Shredder> computer question if you have time to answer.

I know for sure that my <Shredder Classic 3> can open PGN files on its interface, and that I can "Save-store" these PGN files on my Shredder.

In fact, I know that If someone emails me a PGN file, I can save it into my Shredder.

But I'm not sure how to do this.

Will you tell me?

I did go through the <shredder tutorial> but I'm so freakin' useless with computer instructions I'm embarrassed to say I'm not sure how to do it.

Regards,
JFQ

WannaBe: <jessicafischerqueen> I have Shredder 10, but I'm sure some of the command/interface are the same... Background, most people use Notepad, (Start->Programs->accessories) and that is fine, but you need to change one thing, and that is change the extension from *.txt to All Files

This is done when you open/save a file, and it's the Files of Type box, see: http://mysite.verizon.net/jyu1/Jess...

Okay, now the details...

<Save a PGN>:

Highlight the text in e-mail, or on-line web site, after you've copied and pasted into your Notepad program select save, and then change that extension to <All Files>.

Save this PGN, along with the full name in the folder that you want. E.g. 'ChessGames.pgn'

<To Open a saved PGN>:

Start your Shredder, (skip this, if it's already started or running) select File->Open->Database (or F12, with Shredder 10)

Then Select File->Open->Database (Yes, again... or use Control+o) then go to the folder that you have saved the file, and select that *.pgn file) then select the game you want to review. (details on this below)

<Details>:

Here is a little trick, with my Shredder, it can read one PGN file that have multiple games in it, not sure if the Classic 3 version have the same capabilities...

If it does, I tend to save the games in one 'big' PGN file, I just open my previously existing PGN file, and copy/paste/append game(s) to the end of that PGN file, this way, I can keep track of my chess 'progress'.

At times, when I'm really in the mood for good laughs, I go back and review one of my old game...

Let me know if there are other things you need answers to, and I'll send a bill to South Korea. =)

Dec-18-07  JoeWms: I accept your offer to help me with my new toy. May I suggest this Saturday at noon. We'll meet at the Denny's near the Carlsbad Village Drive exit off I-5 and you can follow our car home and have lunch first.

A good plan? (Or whatever Saturday or Sunday time suits you best.)

Dec-18-07  achieve: Great to see you back, Joe!

For "Most Helpful" I vote:

Thank you so much for the detailed PIGN info!!

I thought I nominated <Eyal> for most helpful poster, but I guess I didn't since his name isn't up there.

So I'll go with <Tim>.

My vote for <User: Boomie>
