Happened again, installed 2 Win10 security patches, mouse refuse to work. Looked at the bottom of the mouse, no red light.

Unplugged/replugged it into another USB port to get working again. It's a MPC mouse by Microsoft:

Aug-24-15  waustad: In my case, I tried copy/paste from some Austrian sources that had lines too long so that there were problems. I sent emails explaining the issue and resubmitted ones I'd edited to make them work. I also tried dealing with non-ASCII character issues and asked about the Swedish championship. They said they'd get it from TWIC but nothing happened. As of now I probably have at least 50 submissions that they've blown off. I'm done.

I've sent emails to them about all problems I was aware of. I got prompt and courteous answers sometimes and got the impression that they just nuked them on others. Which person did what? I don't know.

Aug-25-15  waustad: I usually use emacs as my editor and copy and paste from there. I've asked them about non-ascii characters and such, and as I said, sometimes the answers were helpful and sometimes they were non-existant. After earlier complications, I usually ran them through an engine to make sure things worked. There were a few strange things that happened like a tournament in Vienna where they used nonstandard numbering of moves. I sent a message warning them to see if they worked. I guess they got tired of any complications so I got black balled.

WannaBe: <Nako> Ah, that was a good one, game 2 at LAA tonight. =)

On another note, my WiFi tethering does not work anymore at Harrah's in Reno. Think they are blocking the signal.

But I refuse to use their "free" WiFi, as it is unsecured/open connection. But when I am outside, tethering works.

Have to catch up on happenings tomorrow when I get home.

Sep-08-15  NakoSonorense: Is an unsecured/open connection really that unsafe? As in, what could they do if they wanted to? Look at your files? Copy them? Delete them? Steal your passwords?

Also, looks like latest "Patch Tuesday" have a small problem, after I did my update, my link to execute a game (which require CD/DVD) no longer works.

I rolled back to the restore point and everything is back to normal, not sure which one of the 8 updates was the issue.

Will try the work around (instruction in the link) and see if it gets my games working again.
