  OhioChessFan:
Thanks <tpstar>. Look forward to playing over all the games submitted:

1. Nakamura vs Grischuk, 2017

Got my vote for GOTY in the Caissars. Not sure why people think games need to be decisive to be great.

2. Anand vs Caruana, 2017

Vishy blows away Caruana in only 29 moves.

3. J Duda vs Eljanov, 2017

Attack, attack, attack. Usually not my cup of tea, but Duda just blasts away with a Kingside blitzkrieg.

4. J Bai vs Ding Liren, 2017

Ding's minor piece masterpiece.

5. Kramnik vs V Fedoseev, 2017

My mandatory Caro-Kann win for Black. Against Kramnik, no less.

6. Ivanchuk vs Wei Yi, 2017

Chucky's fun King Walk.

7. Kramnik vs Harikrishna, 2017

Most underrated game of the year. Glad to see the old guys still have some game.

8. Carlsen vs Bu Xiangzhi, 2017

Sac a piece, with Black, against the WCC? No problem.

9. Tarjan vs Kramnik, 2017

The youngster Vladdy gets schooled by a veteran.

10. Wei Yi vs I Nepomniachtchi, 2017

Long endgame grind, unbalanced material, that's what I'm talking about.

Great Top Ten list, then the other ten games in your Game Collection: OhioChessFan's favorite games of 2017 will receive one point each. If you add games to your 2017 collection during this contest, please tell me here so I can award a point.

Jan-16-18  thegoodanarchist: <OhioChessFan: Don't forget to vote for Best Games of 2017: >

For me, there can only be one:

Anand vs Caruana, 2017

26.Qd4!!

And the former champ saw it way in advance.

You may choose up to nine more games (in order) before January 30, or else just that one.

I choose that one, nine more times :)

Jan-17-18  diceman: AlphaZero.
What's old is new again.

1. AlphaZero vs Stockfish, 2017

Sorry humans, get to the back of the line.

2. Stockfish vs AlphaZero, 2017

Just when you thought silicon monsters
were making chess boring.

3. Anand vs Caruana, 2017

Nice game by Anand.

4. Carlsen vs Bu Xiangzhi, 2017

I probably enjoy Carlsen losing more than most.

5. Wei Yi vs Yinglun Xu, 2017

Chinese fireworks

6. Karjakin vs Aronian, 2017

Karjakin gets a piano dropped on him.

7. J Bai vs Ding Liren, 2017

Ding dings the King.

8. Topalov vs B D Deac, 2017

Nice.

9. B Ider vs Yifan Hou, 2017

3 pieces for a queen, from the chess Queen.

10. Tarjan vs Kramnik, 2017

How can you pass up:
Librarian shushes Kramnik.

tpstar: 1) Aronian vs Carlsen, 2017 A wonderful inspired attack where everything clicks start to finish.

2) J Xiong vs W So, 2017 21 ... Nxf2!! and 28 ... Rd8!! highlight a brilliant attack and Wesley So won the US Championship.

3) R Wojtaszek vs Topalov, 2017 22 ... Rxb2!! is an amazingly original conception by Topalov who closed it out in style.

4) J Bai vs Ding Liren, 2017 After giving up Q for RN, every Black piece coordinates to attack the White King.

5) Anand vs Caruana, 2017 26. Qd4!! sets up a brilliant finish.

6) Carlsen vs Bu Xiangzhi, 2017 The definitive game from the World Cup, ending with a cute Pawn Promotion motif.

7) B Ider vs Yifan Hou, 2017 A nice Queen sacrifice leads to a patient positional grind.

8) Ivanchuk vs Wei Yi, 2017 The King is a fighting piece!

9) Tarjan vs Kramnik, 2017 Never underestimate the old guard.

10) M Deutsch vs Carlsen, 2017 For non-players, the most famous game of the year.

Honorable Mention: Antal-Vorobiov (La Roda Open, 2017) which is not in the database:
