 | | chessgames.com: Our little plot worked. After making Nimzowitsch vs Alekhine, 1926 the GOTD now it's to be found on the notable games of Aron Nimzowitsch. Democracy can be a good thing, but sometimes it needs a nudge in the right direction. |

 | | Stonehenge: <CG> There are two Sorensen-Nielsen Copenhagen 1873, 28 moves 0-1 C40 in the DB. But believe it or not, they are not identical. This one B Sorensen vs Nielsen, 1873 was played by Vilhelm Nielsen. This one B Sorensen vs Nielsen, 1873 was played by Govert F Nielsen - I couldn't find him in the DB. White was B Sorensen = Balduin Fernando Sorensen. |

 | | kingscrusher: Hi Chessgames.com
I got my CM title recognised by FIDE today. If you would like to sneak in one of my games for game of the day one day, I had a really exciting game vs my good friend Chris Duncan back in 1993. I have video annotated it here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Cs...
It has 3 pawn promotions :)

| Nov-08-10 | | technical draw: In 10 days I will have been a member of chessgames for 7 years. Is it true that if you're a member for 7 years you get a free lifetime premium membership? Or did I just make that up? Anyway congrats to <kingscrusher> for his CM title. Is FM next on the list? |

 | | chessgames.com: <kingscrusher> <I got my CM title recognised by FIDE today. If you would like to sneak in one of my games for game of the day one day> Congratulations, and of course we'd love to "sneak one in." <techincal draw> No, you don't get a lifetime subscription, but you do win a new car. What's your favorite color? Just kidding, but seriously, you have always been one the users that really give this site so much character, and we really mean that. We raise a Beer to the next 7 years. |

| Nov-09-10 | | brankat: <chessgames.com> Regarding today's Player of the Day, GM Tamas Georgadze: It's almost certain that the first 23 games listed on the page were played by some other T.Georgadze. - the first one was played 1 year before Tamas Georgadze was born. - the following 22 were all either USSR Ch. semi-finals, or finals. Since Georgadze only won the IM title in 1975, at the age of 28, it would seem highly unlikely that he had participated in such prestigious events some 20 years earlier, at the age of 9. and 12. |

| Nov-09-10 | | crawfb5: I popped over to RussBase and they list at least the first two at Tbilisi 1956 as being played by Bukhuti Gurgenidze. Before anyone does any corrections, let me point out that there's something seriously wrong with RussBase's PGN file. Gurgenidze has 37 games in a 19 round tournament! There is a Giorgadze (no initial or additional name) as the tailender in the separate crosstable, so some of those games are undoubtedly his. New in Chess lists <Tengiz Shalvovich Giorgadze> as playing in the 1956 USSR semifinals at Tbilisi. The FIDE site does not have him listed with a rating or title other than International Arbiter, but I think that's probably who played the 1956 USSR semifinal games. |

| Nov-09-10 | | technical draw: <chessgames> Thanks! Who is this <techincal draw> BTW? Hah, I know it's me misspelled. I've really enjoyed my 7 years here and since I don't get the car I'll take the bus for the next seven. Cheers, make my Beer non-alcoholic.. |

| Nov-09-10 | | technical draw: <dakgootje: The seven years certainly did not change your good looks!> Thank you. As you can see by my picture I haven't aged a day. I'm 7 years old but I look like 18 months. |

 | | chessgames.com: <LIFE Master AJ> <Isn't it against CG policy to craete a handle/identity ... just in order to harass another user?> It's against the rules to make a username which mocks another user (or is simply confused with another user, like "Life Master A.J.") -- but moreover, it's against the rules to harass another user, period. I deleted your post as you were speculating as to possible sock-puppetry, and while you may be right, you also may be wrong. We don't want this forum to turn into a backhanded method of singling out other members. We do promise to look into the case and take appropriate action. |
|
| Nov-10-10 | | LIFE Master AJ: Thanks.
I did not mean to cross any lines.
However - one user in particular - has used that line ... over and over again. (And I am getting sick of it.) |
