chessgames.com: <momentum> Point well taken. The next game will indeed be a centaur game. It's tempting to try to mix things up a bit, say, by making it a forced gambit opening (letting White choose among various gambit openings all of which may well be dubious) but we think we'll just let the chips fall where they may. White may well try a gambit even without strongarm tactics.
Mar-01-11  Hesam7: <CG.com> please correct the score of Karpov vs Kasparov, 1985 the game ended after 21. ... Re8.
Mar-01-11  NakoSonorense: <cg> For the search kibitzing, can you please make a page listing all the tips that appear when you use the feature? Like, what's the difference between "-user:" and "user:"; how to look up your own posts; how to find the posts where others write your name; etc.

Frankly, it's too confusing and time consuming to try different commands to get what you're looking for. Searching posts by date would also be nice. It seems to me that this feature has a lot of room for improvement, but it has stayed the same for years.

Mar-02-11  hms123: <NakoSonorense> Here it is: chessgames.com chessforum

But it would be nice if it were more easily accessible. I put the link in my header in case you ever lose track of it.

Mar-02-11  Whitehat1963: <chessgames.com> I would greatly appreciate it if you could include this highly unusual (and just barely too long at 81 moves) game in the Guess-the-Move database:

M Ankerst vs Z Basagic, 1996

Thanks.

  WannaBe: 2 small requests...

1. Make the EZ search to also include tournament name, e.g. Amber, MTel...

2. Make the tournament's main page to have a prev/next link e.g. 2010's page would have the prev/next link to 2009 and/or 2011's tournament page.

Please?! Pretty please?!

Mar-04-11  Benzol: <chessgames> On the Alan Shaw thread <perfidious> posted on the 6th of March 2006 that he had uploaded a dozen or so more games. Can you tell us what has happened to these games? Did you get them or have they disappeared into the cyber-ether?

Stonehenge: <CG> Please see my complaint here: Alexander Zubov. We have a biographer who is unbelievably sloppy (or dyslectic, I don't know).

For the last 6 months or so I have made countless (small) bios. You have no idea how many mistakes I have encountered. I have never complained about this biographer before, because I thought it was not done. But I have enough of it now.

The worst is when the days of birth are incorrect. I have *at least* seen 20 wrong days of birth, even from famous players.

Can you please do something about it?

  Stonehenge: <*at least* 20> Make that <at least 50>.

Today's count so far:

John Owen. Born 01 July 1827. Nope, he was born 08 April 1827.

Martin Severin From. Born 08 May 1828. Nope, he was born 08 April 1828.

Sergei Prokofiev. Born 27 April 1891. Nope, he was born 23 April 1891.

Mar-04-11  shivasuri4: Could you please censor the game pages of AJ Goldsby? They have become battlefields of sorts. Each one of them seem to contain barbs, explicit and implicit insults and downright offensive behaviour.See Nakamura-Goldsby and Goldsby-Jonsson for specific examples.Thanks.

Phony Benoni: <Stonehenge> There seems to be some dispute about Prokofiev's date of birth. Wikipedia is not always reliable, but in this case it quotes a source:

<"While Prokofiev himself believed 23 April to be his birth date, the posthumous discovery of his birth certificate showed that he was actually born four days later, on 27 April.">

chessgames.com: Regarding biographical mistakes: <Can you please do something about it?> Please give me an extensive list of players with errors that you've noted. I looked at the three you found today hoping to discover who the editor was that entered the bad data, but we couldn't draw a conclusion based on those three. If we had a long enough list of erroneous player ID's I'm sure we could figure out who the sloppy biographer was.

Did these simply get lost or is there some conflict or illegal moves I'm not catching?

Mar-05-11  suenteus po 147: <chessgames.com> While I'm at it, there's more: From about a year ago I submitted Radulov-Vaganian, 1977 from the Leningrad October Revolution 60, a 24 move draw that hasn't yet been uploaded. Same goes for Sax-Gurevich, 1988 an 11 move draw from Reggio Emilia, and Polugaevsky-Ehlvest, 1990 from round 6 of Reggio Emilia. There's also two games from Frankfurt 1887: Von Gottschall-Von Scheve, 1887 from round 12, and Schiffers-Paulsen, 1887 from round 17, which conflict with erroneous games already in the database. If anything can be done to resolve these game issues, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

chessgames.com: <suenteus> Those games were flagged as possible duplicates due to short draws in the same opening. We just processed them: J H Donner vs W Pietzsch, 1965 and W Pietzsch vs Pachman, 1965. Same sort of issue with I Radulov vs Vaganian, 1977.

<Amber> We'll be putting up the tournament page soon. In past years we've sometimes been able to do massive live relays due to their excellent system of live PGN tranmission; it would be fun to get that working again for this year. Am I to understand that this the final Amber tournament?

Mar-07-11  gus inn: Yes,this is the final Amber .
