 | | Annie K.: <cg> pronunciation icon looks very good, works for me on OS WinXP, browsers Opera, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE8 and K-Meleon. Thanks! :) |

 | | Annie K.: ... my iPhone 3G doesn't recognize the audio app, but this doesn't cause any problems with loading the rest of the page. Some more audio files going your way as soon as I collect the player numbers to rename them. :) |

 | | chessgames.com: Right, the iPhone issue is something we considered. We might be able to provide a workaround for iPhone users. |

 | | WannaBe: I don't think you woudl have any problem staying under the file size limit (Wang Hao, especially), unless you are trying to pronounce Dzeshevilli Yakowlovstivochakoviz. |

 | | WannaBe: <technical draw> You pronounce Euwe like this: Uuu- Wa-ss-ka-ly Waaaa-bit. |

 | | Domdaniel: Never mind *chessplayers*, how do you pronounce *usernames*? Like, um, <Quythulg>? It would be nice to have a feature where I logged in, and Annie's voice automatically said "Welcome to Chessgames dot com, Dom-Dan-Yell." Or "Yell Dom-dan". Whatever.
Nice audio work, all concerned parties. |

 | | OhioChessFan: And here I thought I was the only one who had pleasant thoughts about Annie reciting my name. It would be really nice to hear her say, ala "You Got Mail", "You da man!" |
|
Jan-21-12
 | | Annie K.: Behave, boys. :p
<cg> you've got mail... ;) |
|
| Jan-21-12 | | frogbert: is there or will there be added a way to search up all players with pronunciation audio-files added? |

| Jan-21-12 | | LIFE Master AJ: Browne vs R Kneebone, 1985 This game is positively a fake, see my kibitzes on that page ... Suggest you keep the game, but change the name of the tournament to "Fantasy Island," or something like that ... |
|
| Jan-21-12 | | matebay: How do you pronounce Wesley So? |
|
| Jan-21-12 | | matebay: <Suggest you keep the game, but change the name of the tournament to "Fantasy Island," or something like that ...
No Browne, no Kneebone, etc.>
How about white vs elbow |
|
| Jan-21-12 | | matebay: is it:
1. sow

 | | Phony Benoni: <LMAJ> I've posted some evidence on the page for Browne vs R Kneebone, 1985 indicating it may be a genuine game, but not one of Walter Browne's. |
|
| Jan-22-12 | | Shams: While we are on pronunciations, do we pronounce <drukenknight> as "drooken" or "drucken" or "drunken"? This has niggled at me for years. His email contains a bad pun, which is possibly a clue:
User: drukenknight |

Phony Benoni: <LMAJ> I've posted some evidence on the page for Browne vs R Kneebone, 1985 indicating it may be a genuine game, but not one of Walter Browne's.>> I find NO evidence of Walter S. Browne playing ANY chess in England in 1985. (That fact alone indicates that whomever submitted this game, <intentionally> forged it.) I used the links that you provided and e-mailed Mr. Kneebone, if he replies, I will post a copy of that e-mail here. |

| Jan-22-12 | | Shams: <(That fact alone indicates that whomever submitted this game, <intentionally> forged it.)> Just because the Prosecutor says it doesn't mean the jury has to buy it. You haven't ruled out an honest mistake! "Never rule out an honest mistake." -- <Shams> |

Jan-23-12
 | | Phony Benoni: These mistakes happen. For instance, in one of my games: K Davidson vs D Moody, 1990
The database originally gave my opponent as <IM John Donaldson>. Now, I realize it might be inconceivable that I could lose so badly to anyone less than an IM, but he really wasn't my opponent. But you will still find the game listed under Donaldson in other large databases. Just an honest mistake by somebody along the line. |

 | | Domdaniel: Perhaps historical research is best conducted by those who can find and evaluate evidence dispassionately and objectively. Such as <Phony Benoni>. |
|
| Jan-23-12 | | mack: <Perhaps historical research is best conducted by those who can find and evaluate evidence dispassionately and objectively.> Is such evaluation possible? Doesn't research intimate interest? |
|
Jan-23-12
 | | Domdaniel: <mack> Why, yes. But the historical pro is able to divide themself in twain, as it were ... the 'interested' half draws one to the subject, and then stands aside while the objective half gets on with its dispassionate work. I imagine you could devote a brain hemisphere to each task, if you had two hemispheres and wanted them so employed. |

| Jan-24-12 | | LIFE Master AJ: <<Jan-23-12 Phony Benoni: <LMAJ> I have submitted a correction slip for Browne vs R Kneebone, 1985. It turns out that White was a local Glouchestershire player named <W A Brown> with a rating equivalent to about 2080 USCF. That means this is probably one of his best games, and I'm glad we could attribute it to the correct person. Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this one.> > |

Shams: <(That fact alone indicates that whomever submitted this game, <intentionally> forged it.)>
Just because the Prosecutor says it doesn't mean the jury has to buy it. You haven't ruled out an honest mistake! "Never rule out an honest mistake." -- <Shams> > >You were correct. It turns out one Glouchester player ... one W.A. Brown ... was actually the person who played White. Not a forgery after all, just an honest mistake. It IS so brilliant ... well, the cynic in me smelled a rat ... |
|
| Jan-24-12 | | MORPHYEUS: I like LMAJ attitude, he admits his mistake. |
