 | | chessgames.com: <Why isn't that page popping up on the homepage to the right, where the recent pages of kibitzing are displayed?> We have a special rule that prevents "one word players" from appearing on the recent kibitzing, with a few notable exceptions (Judy, Beer, NN et al.) We just added Argue to that list of exceptions, with some reservations. |

| Dec-31-12 | | sakredkow: I'm not a premium member but I do hope to do that this year. I am very grateful for the site, however, and I really enjoy the games and the kibitzing. I'm looking forward to my own avatar and favorite games collection. Happy and peaceful New Year! |

| Jan-01-13 | | Blunderdome: <chessgames.com> , <fgh> Re: notable games I wrote a few weeks ago that I'd like to see notable games added for Historical Tournament pages, as they already exist for the Wold Championship match pages. In theory, I'd like to be able to see notable games for <any> set of games I happen to come across: a tournament page (new or old), the year 1911, all Kramnik - Aronian games, Smyslov 1960-64, etc. |

 | | Annie K.: Interesting idea. That could go via a "notable" checkbox on the homepage search form, then. |

 | | chessgames.com: I haven't read the whole thing but based on the most recent posts it just looks like members joking around. To be perfectly clear: our posting guidelines are still in full effect on the Argue page. If you see something there which violates our posting guidelines please Blow the Whistle (Argue). |

| Jan-03-13 | | twinlark: Hi <ceegee>
I'd like to make a small suggestion that would make life much easier for me, and hopefully other, biographers. The upgrade to the New Tournaments Index has been a wonderful innovation, but I'm wondering if you could add a function that enables all 26 pages to open into one long page, to facilitate key word searches. Cycling through each page in turn, even if I know the year in question in which an event occurred, can be a time consuming process, especially as preparing some bios can be a very time consuming research project anyway. |

 | | chessgames.com: OK twinlark, here's a super-secret URL just for those in the know: Tournament Index. Use it wisely and pass it on to your fellow biographers. :) |

| Jan-04-13 | | IndigoViolet: I suggest that the pun subsmission page include a link to Phony Benoni's collections of previous puns: Game Collection: Game of the Day Pun Index (A-C) Much more helpful than the current year-past archive. |

 | | Annie K.: <Yer blood's worth bottling.> Uh, try not to be alarmed, <cg>, that's actually a compliment Down Under. :p <here's a super-secret URL> Bookmarked.
<I suggest that the pun subsmission page include a link to Phony Benoni's collections of previous puns> Seconded.

Uh, try not to be alarmed, <cg>, that's actually a compliment Down Under. :p> Makes me even more puzzled why I have never followed my inclination to visit the antipodes. Must be my fallen arches. Makes my inclination too retrograde. |

| Jan-06-13 | | Refused: Can you open up the forum for the upcoming Tata Steel (formerly known as Wijk) tournament? The tournament homepage has been online for a while.

There you can also see the participants. |

| Jan-06-13 | | twinlark: Hi <ceegee>!
Just curious and maybe these queries have already been asked and answered. Those wonderful tournament pages that have been constructed recently with the help of members from their game collections have "bios". Are you giving any thought to providing scope for such "bios" to <all> tournament pages? Also, will the "bios" of the world championship events be made accessible to biographers in due course? |
|
Jan-06-13
 | | chessgames.com: <Are you giving any thought to providing scope for such "bios" to <all> tournament pages?> Oh yes, we've had that goal in mind from the start. For the time being we have a vague "cutoff year" (roughly when the site began: 2001) which is the year after which we prefer that Chessgames editors don't do anything.... yet. The idea is that since tournament editing is still a rather new process we'd prefer to keep a clearcut delineation between "tournaments that the editors made" and "tournaments that the admins made." (The Tournament Index is even separated that way.) One day, when we're happy that the system is sufficient to everybody's needs, we'd like to eliminate that cutoff year. Then even new tournaments will have write-ups and links to important resources, etc. |
