offramp: I like the phrase "beat out" which appears very often on the home page.

What does it mean?

Check It Out: "beat out" means "winning ahead of", and, yes, has a better cool factor.

chessgames.com: <MarkFinan> <Why was this post deleted from the Caruana thread ... I don't want to email you, I would like a public explanation as to why you deleted that post?>

I'm looking at the deleted post now. Not the expurgated version that you quoted, but the full version. Had you not taken the liberty of removing the offending section, it would be very obvious why it was deleted.

For that same reason, even your enquiry was deleted, so I could replace the offending section with "..."

This is why we request that you direct such questions via email. You either don't understand our posting policies or are intentionally breaking them with nearly every post; either way, that means we cannot discuss this matter publicly.

Oct-23-14  MarkFinan: Yeah. Delete it because you know I'm right! It was only last week I was defending the admins of this site over accusations of favouritism. I'm not emailing you but I'd like you to explain publicly why my posts were wrong yet the other guys posts are still there, therefore they're okay? I remember blowing the whistle on kkderek for saying "I despise you and know everything about your life!", and that wasn't deleted until he went. I change a letter in a username and my post gets deleted, so why the hell are certain other posts still there?? You won't and can't explain that.

Oct-26-14  Thanh Phan: <chessgames.com> I believe there is a slight problem on the rogoff page, it's up to you to decide if it's considered normal or any action to be taken
Oct-26-14  Alien Math: chessgamesdotcom please understand we never seen our thanh experience a loss before and for self think it changed her, made her violent, do not hold it against her, for she is only reacting to the loss and not to actual

chessgames.com: <Thanh Phan> No, that's not normal, even by the Rogoff page standards. We're contemplating what should be done right now.

<Thanh Phan: I need rest, and express sorrow to intrude yet wish to let you know sleep appears, until again mr>

The disparity in language quality between these two recent <Thanh Phan> posts raises my suspicions, considering the recent brewhaha on the Rogoff page.

Annie K.: <CIO> I believe Thanh is who she says she is. I've noticed at other times before that her English tends to deteriorate when she is stressed out and/or exhausted.

<Hanh> please tell your sister to take care of herself, and not to worry too much about arguments here. :)
