 | | Domdaniel: <CG> -- <This new "mini probation" is just a 12 hour mini-ban. It allows us to put somebody on probation without going through all the awkward aftermath. > Excellent idea. Like most sane people, I don't much like censorship... but there are times when people need to be reined in. I'd recently had occasion to blow the whistle on some especially offensive posts. I don't like having to do this. |

<Grand Piano>
Just "thinking" out loud here, but how do we feel about the idea of posted weblinks opening up in a new tab? So here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whW...
If we click on that it opens up in this kibbutz tab, overriding it. But if you tweaked a link so it opened up in a new tab, then we could easily go back and forth and construct more kibbutzing whilst referring to the link content. Time and again I have become absorbed in a link and then been annoyed that I had to re-negotiate my mouse to get back to the original cg.com kibbitz tab. I notice a lot of other websites do this.
Can we has the "new tab" function too? |

| Dec-14-15 | | MostlyAverageJoe: <jessicafischerqueen: ... how do we feel about the idea of posted weblinks opening up in a new tab?> Just about every decent browser lets you open a link in another window/tab with a right-click or key-click combination (or press-and-hold on tablets). |

| Dec-14-15 | | Paint My Dragon: <Jess> I can't believe you want to diminish the role of our dear old friend, <Tab> in favour of some trendy, young upstart, <new Tab> Spiders have feelings too ...

 | | OhioChessFan: Not a big deal, but I've always been annoyed with this: <
1. No obscene, racist, sexist, or profane language.
2. No spamming, advertising, or duplicating posts.
3. No personal attacks against other members.
4. Nothing in violation of United States law.
5. Don't post personal information of members. > To be consistent, the last should be something like:
"No posting personal information of members." |

| Dec-15-15 | | Dr. Overlord: I take offense with your latest Holiday Clue. I mean, come on! <..LEWD MS JFQ>
How can you insult <JessicaFischerQueen> like that? She is a distinguished poster here on your site and this is how you treat her!? I am sure that the lovely miss <JFQ> would never engage in lewd behaviour of any kind (well, actually..). Anyway, I've made my point clear. Now back to my vodka. |

 | | chessgames.com: <To be consistent, the last should be something like: "No posting personal information of members."> You are right, fixed. <LEWD MS JFQ> I'm sure she'll take that in good humor, and also see humor in the irony that it was that very clue that broke the puzzle contest. We're still going over our notes trying to figure out what the answer was SUPPOSED to be. <New tabs> We can open pages in new tabs when we see fit, and occasionally we do. There is an option on your Chessgames Preferences Page that reads "Games open in new browser windows" but it only applies to game pages. Arguably this could apply to any links on a chessgames post which link to an external site. Keep in mind you can always open a window in a new page by RIGHT clicking on the link and selecting the appropriate choice from your menu, usually reads something like "Open link in new tab." |

 | | WannaBe: I am very happy, that no one alerted the FBI, or the NSA on the bomb bat car clue. Otherwise we'd be on level 6 red alert by now. |

 | | Domdaniel: <I am sure that the lovely miss <JFQ> would never engage in lewd behaviour of any kind> Of course she wouldn't - she's a respected chess historian, after all. However, some of you might be surprised by the things she got up to in my forum, when she was younger and crazier. I believe I was shut down for a while by CG, to let matters cool off. My lips are sealed. |

 | | Domdaniel: <CG> -- < We're still going over our notes trying to figure out what the answer was SUPPOSED to be.> Eh? You mean there wasn't a lonely game with a prize banner, somewhere in the database? Are you saying there was no solution? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
Er what's all this then? I don't see any LEWD JFQ CLUE anywhere. I looked at the tops of the pages but it says there are no unsolved clues, and here are the clues so far here, right? Chessgames Present Hunt Clues Page
This better not be some kind of trick to get me looking at hundreds of pages trying to find a clue that doesn't exist... |

 | | chancho: The clue was removed because it was <corrupted>. |

<canyonero> might you find me the clewd on Wayback archive? I'm keen to look at it. I want to see my lewdness in context. "corrupted lewdness" I can't say I like the sound of that. UNLESS IT'S A DIRTY LIMERICK CONTEST IN DOMDANIEL'S FORUM 13 YEARS AGO. heh... they forced old <Dom> to manually remove every single lewd post in his forum, and it was around 200 pages long at that point. It took him a week. To be fair, <Dom> supplied half of the dirty limericks, but since I had no powers to remove stuff from his forum, he had to do all the work himself. If I'm not mistaken, at the time <Dom> compared the task to "picking up broken pieces of glass off of the motorway using only my buttcheeks, for minimum wage." Now that was a fond memory. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
Good Heavens...
I just ran that clue through Boltzman's Equation for entropy, and it came up with this: <"Grandfather, have at it with the lascivious Ms JFQ on your XZ-boy barcalounger until all your energy dissipates."> Hmm... doesn't sound so bad written out with the proper maths. (I hope someone doesn't freeze the CG.com Forum until <Daniel> is forced to go back through 3000 pages and manually remove every single off-color remark. Possibly he could enlist <Dom> for help. He has the experience...) |
|
| Dec-15-15 | | WinKing: I actually thought <chessgames> had some good 'twisted' word play going on there.
Too bad the clue didn't pan out. Oh well I'm sure they have more surprises in the hopper yet to come. |
