Feb-08-21  George Wallace: <Susan Freeman: <Jess>. Correct. I just want people to know I ponder these complaints, and they do not fall on deaf ears.>

I hope you don't ponder it too much. Chess players are, in general, one of the worst bunch of them all.

Petty, argumentative, arrogant, contrary, quick to complain and nearly impossible to please.

The daily puzzle is pretty consistent once again and the latest tournaments have been on the homepage in a timely manner as of recently.

The chessgames bookie - I never participated ever, so I don't care if it ever gets squared away or not.

Who cares?

One thing that everyone seems to like is when there is a big tournament and we get to watch a featured game, live as it happens, with the moves and position updating every 2 minutes or so. That usually encourages a lot of participation. I notice that hasn't been happening lately.

On the back end, I know that the chess history enthusiasts here get frustrated with the slow processing of correction slips and things like that. I can appreciate that, but at the same time, truth be told, I don't really care. It's not visible to me or anyone else (even though it's still important to some degree). As I see it, as long as a few of the highly visible things are working consistently (puzzle, big tournaments, live game) then 95% of this site is sorted out.

Everything else is very small potatoes.

And the smallest potato is a whining, crying, grown man from the Rogoff Page, coming here to make all kinds of ridiculous demands. Make sure you put those people on your <ignore> list!

This made me laugh! I think I can come up with a long list of chess players that meet these criteria... I think that's why when we see one that is reasonable and polite we all go "what a gentleman! A class act!" lol

Fusilli: <cg> You may want to review the code that produces the birthdays of the day. Today's most important birthday (living legend Yuri Averbakh turns 99 today) has been omitted.

Enough of this <if this were my website>

It isn't.
It is mine,

That's what Daniel would do.

Let's just try to have an ounce of class about it.

His forum will be open for historical purposes at least. Plus it would be a compassionate and supportive gesture for him.

Feb-10-21  Caissanist: If there are any admins who currently have the ability to update the nationalities list, please add a "Stateless" or "FIDE" one to accomodate Firouzja. He hasn't been Iranian for quite some time now.

Given that <whiteshark> is not dead, and that presumably it was he who has closed his forum (who else?), <cg.com> should not be re-opening his forum.
