saffuna: <Is there a reason we have never been told the actual cause of Daniel's death?>

Because it's a private matter?

Sep-28-18  JimNorCal: Yeah there's a reason but none of us know it.
It might be simply privacy/grief. Or not.

Susan Freeman made a reference to heart failure in one of her comments. It was not a comment specifically about DF, don't get me wrong. But sometimes top-of-mind phrases pop out in conversation.

Sep-28-18  cormier: hi, you've printed caruana-anand twice here ... 43rd Chess Olympiad (2018)/Fabiano Caruana ..... ths, & have a wonderfull day

Sep-28-18  Tiggler: <TheFocus: Is there a reason we have never been told the actual cause of Daniel's death?>

Maybe the obvious one: it's none of our business.

Sep-28-18  TheFocus: Difficult to say that Daniel made this site for us and yet we are not allowed to know how he died?

I think it is our business to know, but if his Mom doesn't want to share that info, that's okay.

WannaBe: <TheFocus> I disagree, it is not our business to know.

If it had been posted that Daniel passed as natural causes, would you have been happy with that?

If not, what difference would have it made?

Sep-29-18  rogge: None of your business, end of.

Premium Chessgames Member rogge: None of your business, end of.>

I agree it's none of our business and it's a bit of a morbid question but I think Daniel's mum should just say now. We all felt we knew the fella, I think whereas most of us are a tiny bit curious (but would rather let it slip) there's some sick puppies out there that think Daniel was <killed with an email in the restroom by the guy with the stripy jumper on!?>. It's about time these weirdos found out what Daniel died of, if it was a heart attack let them go ahead and blame the guy who "emailed him to death". <Focus> just turned into BP's little ho, so can we at least make him feel even smaller now his hero got the boot and then we can all shut up?

Sep-29-18  diceman: "None of our business" has little to do with it.

The other co-founder of the site
has his cause of death listed:

<Sadly and unexpectedly, Albert passed away of cardiac arrest at the age of 56.>

It all depends if the people involved have no problem sharing the information.

(I wasn't on the site at the time,
have no idea if questions arose, or
how long after death that information was posted)

What about finishing the starters ?

Can you reinstate <BigPawn> ?

Straight up question.

Sep-29-18  zanzibar: RE: <Cause of Death aka COD>

I think <Focus> has the right to ask about the COD, and I myself would like to know as well(*).

As biographers, we view any biography incomplete without the COD - and you'll notice we almost always include it for players who die prematurely. E.g.

<Sadly and unexpectedly, Albert passed away of cardiac arrest at the age of 56.>

Alberto A Artidiello

DF's mother did at one time tell us she would communicate the COD when she knew, but perhaps not:

<The cause of death is still unknown.>

< He is dead. baldwin funeral home cape coral fl we will keep this site up and running.>

< The autopsy is still pending. I understand everyone wants this site to continue seamlessly, but there are legalities. His death is still an "open case" per the detective.>

<autopsy is still pending.>

<Toxicology takes 8 weeks. that HAS to be completed. Then there is the case of identification. The coroner is still trying to find the DNA for Sneaky and Demetrius.>

<This site will survive, and I will disclose the COD when I find out myself. The kind words I am reading are comforting.>

< I see no reason to bore anyone either. Nor do I see a valid reason to be truthful. But if there is some occupational hazard involved, i.e. a sedentary lifestyle, odd sleep hours, I feel a moral and civil obligation. It is what I do. Feel free to scroll down.>

<Daniel’s biography is too painful to discuss right now.>

Daniel Freeman (kibitz #622)
Daniel Freeman (kibitz #643)
Daniel Freeman (kibitz #679)
Daniel Freeman (kibitz #819)
Daniel Freeman (kibitz #826)
Daniel Freeman (kibitz #1079)
Daniel Freeman (kibitz #1085)
Daniel Freeman (kibitz #1160)

I still intend to make a blog post with DF's bio, but actually was waiting for COD, if it was to be published.

(*) Under Florida law, one can obtain a Death Certificate for any deceased individual, but only certain people can obtain the COD for a 50-year period after the death:

http://www.floridahealth.gov/certif...

I don't agree with this law, on general principles - but it's the law.

My view is that privacy belongs to the living, and legacy to the dead.

harrylime: My view is that you seem obsessed .

Let it go .

I have full confidence in the ADMINS on this site enforcing rules upon "OBSESSED" posters/users ... ect ect

Unfortunately <ZANZIBAR> you deffo fall into this category sunshine x

Sep-29-18  TheFocus: <DWOB> <Focus> <just turned into BP's little ho, so can we at least make him feel even smaller now his hero got the boot and then we can all shut up?>

My question has nothing to do with <Big Pawn>. Too bad you feel like you have to bring him up.

For once, <harry> makes sense.

Sep-29-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: That's still a bit like saying your dogs pretty good at chess because you can beat it 3/5. I just wish Miss Freeman would answer this although way to go Zanzy.. You quoted the law but haven't used it yourself to find out!?
Sep-29-18  zanzibar: <Winnie> according to FL law I don't qualify for the info. It's just relatives and people named in the will (and maybe insurance companies(?)).

(And a chuckle for <Hazz>'s good hygene)

Sep-29-18  john barleycorn: <Count Wedgemore: ...

For once, <harry> makes sense.>

He does more often, but unrecognized. People here have to get accustomed to the "white logic".

Sep-29-18  john barleycorn: <morfishine: Oh, and BTW, our dear troller friend <john barleycorn> continues to thumb his nose at <CG> admin, while not only refusing to remove the daily attack against myself, he questions <Sargon>'s legitimacy ...>

I am glad to see <morfishine> is still alive and spouting his frustrations after so much family related problems and losing his job. Stick to the food stamps boy and kind regards to <Goldsby I> *****

Susan Freeman: OK. OK. I have just been legally appointed the personal representative, which, In Florida is identical to an executrix....a female executor. I have gone before the probate judge, and then I had it certified. All this within the last 2 days. It was a crime scene, but that has been dismissed. Do you not realize I am not entitled to discuss a crime scene, and mention any details until the solicitor appoints me, and detective closes the case? I mean really. Stay tuned. I will explain everything
