MissScarlett: I prefer the new font and suggest we keep it for all FEN diagrams.
Jul-02-21  Z truth 000000001: It's not a font, but it is crap (I'm aligned with <ajk68>)...

Kibitzer's Café (kibitz #285382)

Jul-02-21  diceman: <pepefava12: Hey guys Tristan here, I know <MissScarlett> and <fredthebear> are having trouble with analysis, anyone else?

Working on it as this texts get posed>

Still not working through the Openings Database:

<diceman: <stevemcd87:

Can you please explain how you requested the analyzation?>

I went through the <Openings> database.

Played a few moves and stopped at a position I wanted to analyze. Clicked on <engine>.

Came back to the laboratory 5 hours later. The red indicator was still blinking. Nothing was actually being analyzed. Clock showed 5 hours had passed.>

Jul-02-21  g15713: I agree with others <horrid black/white font> about FEN diagrams

Still missing numerous FEN diagrams on our chess analysis...

I didn't realize until I had seen them, but I prefer the black and white FEN diagrams. I find them easier to read for some reason. Please don't yell at me! It's just an opinion eh.

MissScarlett: Computer analysis still bunged up. Is there a way to cancel all pending requests?

Willber G: <Is there a way to cancel all pending requests?>

Go to the Analysis Laboratory and scroll down to Recent Analyses.

MissScarlett: Back to square one. Keep getting <Sorry, no analysis for this position.> Once I reach four of same, I get the additional <You currently have 4 pending Stockfish requests.> A couple of times, upon clearing them, as above, the engine worked, but only once.

Willber G: Same messages for me. It worked yesterday but not today.
Jul-02-21  pepefava12: Good afternoon All,
just a quick update on the Labs
We still need to fix the underlying issue of why it's not working for you guys but you can do requests and I will be manually handling them for now I have a system that works pretty well to catch up on the analysis requests now. I'll be sure to catch up a few times a day.
that is all

WannaBe: <pepefava12> CG.com is built on Linux (-like) system? I often encounter Apache error message when system have problem. But Apache can also run on Windows based systems.

So, with that in mind, is Engine Analysis on AWS also Linux (-like) system? Can you or someone look at the /var/log directory to see what log(s), or Windows Event Log -> System or -> Application; if any are there?

Maybe making a change where/when the exception(s) occurs and is displayed on the web page; then us(ers) can copy/paste the message and paste it here, or in your forum, (if you open it, like <jessicafischerqueen> suggested?)

The only minor issue may be, is that error message runs too long and we have to -- Click Here for More --

But I am sure that can be easily resolved, as many of us(ers) are fairly intelligent and be able to supply to you as much info as possible.

Also, if <YOU> try to run an engine analysis, do you get any/the same error message as we do? That may also be a good starting point to resolving the root issue.

Please let me/us(ers) know if this message is of any help.

saffuna: I've been one of the active posters on the Rogoff page from the start. I like it. But I'd be OK if it were taken down (for politics) tomorrow.

But I would like to point out one thing (again):

While there have always been calls to take down the political posts on the Rogoff page, the intensity of those calls increased by an order of magnitude starting last November and December.

What could possibly be the reason for such a marked change? What could it be?

Susan Freeman: <Saffuna> I remember that time. I think it was my idea to take it down. It is a source of contempt and conflict.

But then I thought again, and decided that the same sentiments would only surface throughout CG. So I decided it was more prudent to keep it contained. This is a social experiment.
So Rogoff remains as a political * closed ward* in the psychiatric unit of cyberspace. 😆

So <Susan>, remember the recent discussion about having a separate database for members to upload their games? Is that on the agenda for some time in the future?

saffuna: <susan> I am not. Starting last November all the calls to dump the Rogoff political increased dramatically.

<He sees an Orange Bad Man under his bed.>

I don't have to worry about him any more, because he's no longer president. He was voted out decisively last....um, November.
