 | | MissScarlett: Several newly uploaded events just say <Match (Year)>; I think they should carry the players' names. |

 | | Phony Benoni: We are having the problem of recycling recent GOTDs again. For instance, today's (July 7) game was used on June 23, 2021. Interestingly, the entires from June 20-June 23 are missing from the list, and all these games have been re-used in the last few days. Is this bcause a game cannot appear twice on that list, as in collections? We were having a similar problem last week, repeating gams from September 2018, but I hated to say anything. Seems like I do nothing but coplain to you! |

 | | Tabanus: <Several newly uploaded events just say <Match>> In addition to these holy cows, why not upload also the Russian team championship and Russian Higher League 2021? And soon: https://worldcup.fide.com/ |

 | | MissScarlett: Somehow I thought <Tab> was the one responsible for uploading most of the new content. Will <stevemcd> confirm that it's actually himself? If so, what sources does he use, and what qualifying criteria does he employ? |

Not at all thank you for letting me know! |

 | | MissScarlett: Can we put someone competent in charge of the <GOTD> feature? I vouch to select no more than two of my own puns per week. |
|
Jul-09-21
 | | Phony Benoni: <pepefava12> Thanks for your response yesterday, but th eproblem persists. Toda's GOTD (Karpov vs Timman, 1988) was also used on Jun-21-21 and Jun-28-21, as well as Oct-14-18 and Apr-17-19. |
|
Jul-09-21
 | | MissScarlett: I doubt forgetfulness is the source of the problem. |
|

| Jul-09-21 | | diceman: <Susan Freeman: Analyzer should be up and running......Thanks my main man, Steve McQueen. McDonald. and Tristan.> Ive looked at fixed positions, using "engine" and it seems to be working. The Game(PGN)Analysis, where you load the moves, and it analyzes move by move, doesn't seem to be working. I have a game that's been running 20 hours, and still hasn't finished. It's under: Job # 7029871639090130 if that helps. |

 | | stevemcd87: <Will <stevemcd> confirm that it's actually himself?>
I haven't been doing uploads. All uploads have been from the editors with access to the editors page... Big thanks to them.
<If so, what sources does he use, and what qualifying criteria does he employ?>
I haven't found any written documentations on the criteria for uploads or events, nor do I have good sources to the PGNs for these events, I know of one( https://theweekinchess.com/a-year-o... ).
<Is the Croatia Grand Chess Tour 2021 (Kasparov is playing) going to be added?>
I'll look for the PGNs for this event.
I've updated my bio at stevemcd87 chessforum with a list of Bugs and requested Enhancements.
Please let me know if you notice anything missing.
We are steadily progressing on emptying out the Bug list, sorry for the delay.

 | | stevemcd87: <diceman> Could you let me know the steps you took to make your request?
I am still familiarizing myself with the analyzer.
Sorry for the inconvenience |
|
| Jul-12-21 | | diceman: <stevemcd87: <diceman> Could you let me know the steps you took to make your request?> I go to the: <Laboratory>. Then the: <Game (PGN) ANALYSIS> window. Paste in the <PGN>. <Example:> 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 g6 3.Bf4 Bg7 4.Nbd2 c5 5.c3 cxd4 6.cxd4 d5 7.Bxb8 Rxb8 8.Qa4+ Bd7 9.Qxa7 Ne4 10.e3 Nxd2 11.Nxd2 e5 12.Nb3 0-0 13.Qc5 Rc8 14.Qb4 Re8 15.Be2 exd4 (Because I'm only looking at openings, I tend to paste in only 15 moves of a game) I make sure the <Fuel/Move> is set to <4>. (Max depth) I select <intensive evaluation> for the type. When you select <request> a window opens that shows gears turning, this tells you stockfish has started. At this point, you should see the position it is calculating at the top of the <RECENT ANALYSES> window. If you don't, you can try refreshing it.
<You can refresh this list with the circular icon above.> All of this worked this time except the <RECENT ANALYSES> window. It was solid gray and didn't show any position. (That happened several years ago, but the computer analysis still worked, so I didn't think it was that unusual) When I came back (about 20 hours later)
stockfish was still running, indicating a problem. That is when I left the post and Job number. |

| Jul-12-21 | | Z truth 000000001: Here's an interesting post from our late departed Daniel Freeman, in his capacity as capable admin, concerning his view of "free speech": <<chessgames.com> You can make the argument that wasn't a personal attack. I tend to disagree, but it was only a 24 hour probation, so if I'm wrong then I apologize and no great harm was done. But suppose you're right: in that case, are you really asking for permission to tell people to "shut up" as you please? I'd prefer you wouldn't.> chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #26713) Compare this attitude to all the crap the current admin allows on <CG>. Times have changed. |
