OhioChessFan: I think it's great. I agree with the suggestions for improvement already made, especially the h1 square color. But all in good time. For now, it's a definite step forward.
Mar-10-22  Alien Math: <Susan Freeman: I have an announcement: Check out the live games! Big applause to Steve! Please let us know if you see any glitches!> i like it thoughts <z> has some valid if overstressed points,

it works, a potential limit on timing for blinking get our attention type of activity could be a bonus, zooming to selected game in any way showing us the move the same as in the current live games limits isn't a problem in her eyes,

regarding <z's> player name in their native resolution, a current name translated request would be appreciated

Mar-10-22  Z truth 000000001: Overstressed you say!?

Mar-10-22  Z truth 000000001: Now let's obliquely approach an architectural question or two...

https://www.chessgames.com/nodejs/g...

We currently have a couple of games on display - but where do we make comments to the livestream?

The new page is display only, right?

And if we go to an ongoing game, e.g.

D Andreikin vs Giri, 2022

We can comment on the game, but it doesn't do live updates (to the board at least).

(Remember yesterday's comment about not displaying the current position? Also - the game status really should be <live> and not <no result>, as it might be possible for the DB to contain abandoned games - a horse of a different color really)

Mar-10-22  Z truth 000000001: Though it goes without saying, comments are the very essence of <CG>(*) - there, I said it.

(*) Semi-related - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFa...

We will be adding the ability to post and view comments in real time in the near future.
For now, a user can click on the image to be directed to the game page, which does not get updated in real time.

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the feedback>

Interesting that some of the photos match the players page, and others don't.

The photos for <Sevian vs Robson> look too young, but they're not the ones on the players page. Other photos do match.

Good job though, these are just minor kinks.

MissScarlett: <Check out the live games!>

The front page sign for live games needs to be more prominent. Just putting it in neon green/yellow isn't enough.

Phony Benoni: Users in the United States (end elsewhere) who went on Daylight Saving Time this morning will see the GOTD and POTD features updated an hour later.
Mar-14-22  Z truth 000000001: I miss the old days, when the USA was great enough to determine that GOTD and POTD should be on EST.

Whoops, make that EDT!

MissScarlett: <FSR> points to one Oparin duplicate, but there are three from the same event: Gibraltar Masters (2018)/Grigoriy Oparin

Why did they make it through? Can User: Caisso reassure us on this point?

Why isn't Beavis fired yet? How many months of examples of his incompetence do you need to see?

What about hiring somebody who understands how to import chess pgns without cocking it up every single time?

Mar-21-22  Z free or die: <<JFQ> etc, etc.>

In the spirit of Groundhog Day.

The name may have changed, but the song remains the same.

Caisso: Hey Tabanus. This is the second time you imply or accuse me of making duplicates of Gibraltar Masters (2018) without any proof. If there are duplicates that showed up in the last few weeks it was for sure not on me. In fact all tournaments are now being uploaded by Steve. He will keep uploading games till we are ready with the duplicate detection and deletion system . I hear this will be very soon. I will be downloading away very soon!
Mar-21-22  Z free or die: Actually <Caisso>, it seems <Tab> is one of the few who didn't explicitly blame you this go round(*):

<<Tab> Now they [i.e. the dups] are back again.>

Is a simple statement of fact, unadorned.

(*) My <bad penny> ref was meant to just refer to the actual dups returning, like a "bad penny".

<z> thanks for the clarifications- I am not following this issue closely enough to post about it, and I shouldn't have done so.

I will leave it to others from now on.

MissScarlett: The problem isn't the tournament uploads but that of player game collections. All the <Gibraltar 2018> duplicates feature Oparin. But one can find long runs of games by other GMs.

<Caisso>, were you responsible for some or all of these? I trust this practice has also stopped, pending the new duplicate detection system.

Tabanus: <Caisso> I didn't say it was you. At least not this time. Could there be a hickup in the program.

Caisso: Sounds like some sort of glitch apart from uploading player games and missing duplicates.
Mar-21-22
Premium Chessgames Member
MissScarlett: The glitch is missing duplicates, so how can it be separate?
