<Susan> lol
I think the techs will get to the bottom of this eventually. Then we can break out the burritos amirite. |

 | | stevemcd87: Hello everyone,
Re <This page isn’t working right now.chessgames.com didn’t send any data. ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE>We've contacted AWS support and they mentioned it seems to be a common bug with Google Chrome. We will begin working on their suggested solutions.
May I suggest using a browser other than Google Chrome for now. I haven't been seeing the issue with Mozilla Firefox.
Sorry for the inconvenience |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Steve> I have been using Microsoft Edge. Do I need to switch to Gorilla Firefox?
What you said doesn't sound right to me. Chrome and Edge are huge browsers- if you can't make the code work with them that is a weakness in your coding, as opposed to some design flaw in the browsers is it not? It's like saying Hyundai and Rolls Royce aren't good cars instead of learning how to drive the freaking things. |

 | | Willber G: I'm still getting this message on Firefox:
chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #37959) It is no longer just on Rogoff, either. |

 | | stevemcd87: Message from AWS:
<After looking into this more, this issue is somewhat common with google chrome and it is mainly due to the web server speed. If you have a slower web server then the information does not get accessed fast enough and the website will display the error, no information delivered until the information is accessible, through your web server.>
They also sent documentations on how to speed up the server. I don't believe I received the error on Firefox or Safari(Mobile), yet. This may not be the case for everyone. Do with that information what you will. <It's like saying Hyundai and Rolls Royce aren't good cars instead of learning how to drive the freaking things.>
It's like saying "stay home until your car gets fixed or feel free to use a loaner". We will get this issue resolved ASAP.
Sorry for the inconvenience |

Recommending a different browser, given Chrome (chromium)'s market penetration really isn't a good alternative (even if it would fix the problem, which isn't clear). I don't see such error messages on other chess sites. Nor did we, going back not too far in time, did we see such consistent errors on the <CG> site itself. Doesn't <CG> have any version control? Are you telling us you can't roll back to a better debugged version after almost, what - about two weeks?! . |

 | | MissScarlett: D-Day +VII. All we know so far is that, like <Apollo XIII>, a faulty module is involved. |
|
Jun-13-22
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<z> I have to agree, though unlike you I have no idea what I am talking about. I can however affirm that the <Debrugge> family invented "debugging." Possibly we could contact them by "postal" since nothing electronic works from this website. |

Jun-13-22 | | Z free or die: Maybe related?
<RE: Olga viewer> I know that pgn4web is likely the recommend viewer (given null moves, etc) - but Olga is still the default. Has anybody else noticed the recent full-board blank/refresh behavior? I find it very distracting, much more so than the little animated jerk previously seen. * * * * *
<JFQ> Speaking of the charms of old-fashioned communication channels, ever read this book? https://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Sabi... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<z> those books look delightful eh? I never heard of them before. I believe I will purchase the first volume. *actual fact* the back windshield of my car is obscured by many old Dr. Seuss books piled up there. So I have to be very careful backing up... |

Thing 2: Read the book.

<TD>, <Jim> Thank GHOD you gentlemen are here.

Jun-14-22 | | Z free or die: <Pun Suggestion> Given that the pun queue is sometimes found empty (speaking of deja vu!)... Can the algorithm handle that case by picking, at random, from a list of backup candidates? In other words, not get pinned down?
. |
|
Jun-14-22
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<z> It's not the pun queue being found empty that's the problem here. The real problem is <MissScarlett's> head being found empty. It's too bad his resevoir of unmitigated gall is never found empty eh.... |
|
Jun-14-22
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<TD> I remember that! It was said by an American "based balls" manager, if I remember correctly. Now what was his name... I want to say Shecky Green... Ted Danson... it's right on the tip of my tongue eh... |
|
Jun-15-22 | | technical draw: <It was said by an American "based balls" manager> Yes, you're close but he was known more for being a Yankee catcher. However nobody goes to Yankee's games anymore since it's always crowded. |
