 | | petemcd85: <stone free or die: <pete> - quick question, but does a forum activation require admin intervention?> No you are correct it does not need admin intervention. Thanks <Z> <lostemperor: Hi chessgames. I renewed my premium membership for three years. Can you put my forum back up?> <lostemperor> click on the link "edit your preference" on your profile page and check the "activate your chessforum" check box, then click the "update your profile" button |

Jan-06-23 | | SChesshevsky: Just to let you know. The issue I mentioned yesterday related to Bing and Yahoo search engines has seemed to be resolved. When entering "chessgames", this site comes up as first choice again. |

|
Jan-06-23 | | stone free or die: <MissScarlett: Does reactivating a forum revive the old one or start afresh?> I'm pretty sure (i.e. virtually certain) it revives the old one. Pretty logical business-wise -- much more incentive for re-upping. |

 | | petemcd85: <stone free or die: RE: Correcting scores and updating computer annotations> It seems that we will need to delete and reanalyze the game when a game score changes. We will create a front-end feature to do this manually and eventually automate it. |

 | | LoveThatJoker: <petemcd85> If all that is needed to delete this version and re-upload a corrected version is a new PGN of this Mamoshin game, then I am sure users <Messiah> or <MissScarlett> can do so! LTJ |

 | | Check It Out: <CG> I've noticed over the past months that <al wazir>'s use of figurine notation results in a lot of weird characters (lots of A with a diacritic, the tradmark symbol, etc), especially when viewed on a mobile. It makes his analysis unreadable. Oddly, other figurine user's analysis looks correct. Are you aware of this issue? |

 | | Check It Out: <nok> Only spends <$money$> on products and companys he has personally vetted for "proper" political and economic conduct. For example, his computer and cell phone, his rent/mortgage, his banking needs, his food, etc. all come from left-leaning companies he approves of, with owners and board members who have acceptable political and ecomonic beliefs. He would not spend a dime on a company like <Chessgames> because the owner has righwing beliefs. However, he will still visit and use the website platform multiple times a day, every day, because he likes the product. We should all follow his example if we are to be good citizens of the world. /s |

 | | Check It Out: This is a copy paste with my cell from this post: Arencibia Rodriguez vs M Gongora Reyes, 1998 (kibitz #4) However, when I do a copy/paste from my desktop the same section looks like this: <move was ♘x♙> So, it looks like a mobile issue. |
|
Jan-07-23 | | stone free or die: <CIO> yes, it's some missing font characters that are part of unicode which your mobile OS doesn't handle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess... These are two bytes encoded characters - and will show up normally as black blocks if your browser doesn't have the fonts set loaded. I can't help but mention that it's a bit curious how <al w> switches back and forth from the unicode glyphs to the normal english piece names in his post. Arencibia Rodriguez vs M Gongora Reyes, 1998 (kibitz #4) . |
