 | | MissScarlett: Time for tournament pages for both the Masters and Challengers events at https://tatasteelchess.com/programme/. |
Jan-11-23
 | | Stonehenge: And updating the OE (please) before it starts wouldn't hurt. |

Jan-11-23 | | arctos horribilis: OK, this looks better. I think the Tata Steel Masters is going to be interesting but the link on the other page looks wrong. Why not go directly to the Masters section?
https://tatasteelchess.com/tata-ste... Thank you very much. |

 | | MissScarlett: I changed the event start dates from the 13th to the 14th. Including the day of the opening ceremony is a pet hate. |
Jan-12-23 | | stone free or die: And do you know what is my pet hate?
Tournament book covers often (always?) include the opening ceremony date. Z-base tends to follow that practice, after all, the players usually show up in town for the free chow, and to draw lots. If you want the date of R1, then look at a R1 game. |
Jan-12-23
 | | MissScarlett: Should the EventDate tag mark the opening ceremony or the start of play? |
Jan-13-23 | | stone free or die: This question best belongs on the Bistro I would think. But I agree, convinced though I may be about the Z-base position being correct, a debate and vote on the Bistro is the best way to adopt a formal <CG> position on the matter. The question is, can we even get a quorum for a vote? |
Jan-13-23
 | | MissScarlett: The question was purely rhetorical. |

 | | Stonehenge: A live game could (should) already be put up. Carlsen-Aronian for example. |
Jan-13-23 | | stone free or die: And answered rhetorically then.
Consider the just started <Tata Steel (2023)> Tata Steel Masters (2023) We have the <Missy> standard - <Jan 14-29, 2023>, but the actual official website figures the date quite promeniently: <<13 - 29 January 2023>> (note the start date is Jan 13th, not 14th). Even for the <Tata Steel Masters 2023> section: https://tatasteelchess.com/tata-ste... (see for yourself) The event begins with the opening ceremony, and the drawing of the lots. The players are there after all, and it's nice to have all the event's sections with the same EventDate, even if the R1 starts are staggered. |

Jan-13-23
 | | Stonehenge: The Amateur Nine-round starts at the 20th. An event date of the 13th would perhaps be a bit confusing. |
Jan-13-23 | | stone free or die: <stonehenge> that's does suggest an exception. Of course, the amateurs don't do a drawing of lots, nor do they get a free meal on the 13th! |
Jan-13-23 | | stone free or die: Prompted by the real <stone>™, I looked a little into the amateur section a little more. It might be hard to come up with a more exact <EventDate>, as there are so many start dates for the different sections of amateurs: https://amateurs.tatasteelchess.com... (Anyway- even though I clearly have a preference, and a preference for how the default is established (i.e. via voting in the Bistro), the most important part is to get each section's games with the same <EventDate> - for PGN normalization) . |
Jan-13-23
 | | petemcd85: All other websites has the <eventStartDate> on the 13th, Amateur's the 20th. It seems we will be the only website with <eventStartDate> on the 14th 🤷🏻♂️ Just let me know what you guys decide. |

Jan-13-23
 | | Stonehenge: <It's been updated.> Not in the editor, but maybe I'm nitpicking. |
Jan-13-23
 | | Stonehenge: Also not in the Player Directory. |
Jan-13-23
 | | Stonehenge: Not in Privacy Policy (and maybe etc.) Enough already :) |
Jan-13-23
 | | Stonehenge: It's more important to get a live game up asap, to check if it works. Tata is one of the most important chess tournaments in the world. |

Jan-13-23
 | | petemcd85: <Stonehenge: Also not in the Player Directory.> We'll get it updated, thanks |
