Tabanus: The playoff was tied at 5-5 after which they (or the organizer) decided to share the title.

According to <CG>: "The lists of notable games are calculated by finding the games which most frequently appear in our users' game collections."

And only tournaments in the Tournament Index are eligible to become notable tournaments.

To make the 1954 British Championship eligible to become a notable tournament you will first need to find a volunteer editor willing to promote the event into the Tournament Index (hopefully with a good xtab and bio write-up).

After that I'm not sure what the next step is in making a tournament notable. I can imagine it being another <CG> automated calculation, probably based on the number of games from an event appearing in members' collections.

Please provide a link to the game page. I need the GID to further investigate.

The player has already been deleted. Not sure yet if it was before or after the upload.

Aug-23-25  stone free or die: Yesterday and today...

Getting a lot of annoying <Our Server is Overloaded> messages when trying to page through a player's games, or go to a page in the <TI>.

We just completed an update that should help and will have a few more updates ready shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Aug-23-25  stone free or die: Thanks <steve>.

Maybe a notice beforehand so users don't think it's a local malfunction first?

Aug-23-25  stone free or die: (Yes I know the error message says <Server Overload>, but still...)

I know one thing he just did. The game collection xtabs are now straightened out and not skewed any more (in edit field). Easier to make them now, thanks.

Susan Freeman: <stevemcd87> There has been some chatter in Rogoff to make Rogoff visible in recent kibitz searches. I think we should give it a chance.
Uncensored of course.

Tabanus: What about making a <game page> for that.

"Black vs White"? For example with the Halloween gambit moves as in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vyl...

Tabanus: Or "Joe Libs vs Donald Magas (2025)", lol. But then I suppose it would be kibitzing on those player pages too.

HeMateMe: What's the name of that ugly, new typeface that is showing up in the dialogue windows? Just curious.
Aug-25-25  stone free or die: Instead of assigning <steve> the relatively useless task(*) of promoting <Rogoff>, could we instead add the following potential improvement in game searches, to wit:

<Add an additional feature selecting only classic (or rapid, or blitz) games?>

I know this isn't exactly straightforward - but recent discussions on <Sinquefield 2025> concerning certain players had <fabelhaft> doing some nice stats via a <CG> search.

But the searching really would be most useful if done only for classic games. This might be hard to do (since we don't tag classic games in general), but certainly one could exclude rapid/blitz games in a large number of cases via some computer code.

* * * * *

(*) Useless in my (not so) humble opinion. I think it fair to say that <Rogoff>'s visibility is useless to the vast majority of <CG> users.

Those in the know, know where to go, as they say.

Atterdag: <HeMateMe: What's the name of that ugly, new typeface that is showing up in the dialogue windows? Just curious.>

Perhaps it is individual. I have noticed that the typeface in my windows now appears to be Georgia (AFAIK), which I also happen to use in my e-mails and occasionally in Word-documents. It's a brilliant, very thought-through type, surprisingly contemporary (Matthew Carter 1993) - and far from ugly in my eyes.

Perhaps you've got a different typeface (or a different taste in types)? :-)

There you go again, policing the site. No wonder you're annoying so many.

<Susan Freeman: <stevemcd87> There has been some chatter in Rogoff to make Rogoff visible in recent kibitz searches. I think we should give it a chance. Uncensored of course.>

Too mealy-mouthed. You're the boss - tell him to jump to it. It's been two days already.

Aug-26-25  stone free or die: <<Missy> There you go again, policing the site. No wonder you're annoying so many.>

Conduct a poll then. I'll wage $5.

Aug-26-25  stone free or die: Also - I read back 5 pages on <Rogoff>, I see lots of chatter but nothing in accordance to <Susan>'s claim.

She's the owner of the site - one would think she would know how to link to a specific post in the vicinity of the "chatter", so one could put her claim to the test, or evaluate it with the proper context.

Oh did I mention that I was the one who got <Daniel> to implement linking to actual posts?

Am I being annoying enough? I do have a quota to meet after all!

It looks like it comes off of a 1947 typewriter, IMO.
