 | | Diademas: <Annie K.:<But you would have said the same thing about any such tournament we chose at all, wouldn't you?>> Probably.
Partly because I'm an old fart who feels intimidated by any changes, but also because the point eludes me. |

 | | Tabanus: Xtab with GCT points now in Game Collection: Cote d'Ivoire 2019, is it usable? Hard to swallow? Not the prettiest I've seen :) |
|
| May-12-19 | | Boomie: <CG>
Could you change Dom's forum so we can see part of the last post in the <Chessforums> list? That will not only save time for those of us keeping the forum active, it will also attract new posters. |

 | | Tabanus: CG took time-out again. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Tab> The time-outs are very temporary these days, and I think we should acknowledge that, and be patient. Remember months ago when I predicted that the game uploads and correction slips would begin to be processed regularly again? The current owner/admins needed that time to sort out all manner of teething challenges that we can only guess about. I do know that <Daniel> used to tell us that the coding for this site was so "ad hoc" that it would be challenging for anyone else to sort it out. But they did sort it out, and nowadays we have even better and quicker service on uploads/corrections. In addition, the administration of the posting guidelines has never been better. <Daniel> was loathe to delete any post, or to ban any member. He believed in free speech more than any administrator at any other chess website. This made cg.com a lot more "human" than sites such as chess.com or chesscafe, where there is no pretence of any kind of "free speech." They just automatically and robotically delete any comment that violates their guidelines, with no explanation given. I will never forget the thread I saw at <chess.com> in which several members were complaining that the word "breast" had caused a post about cooking chicken to be deleted- a humorous incident, but one that would never have happened, and never did happen, on <Daniel's> watch. It would also never happen with the current administration. They have tightened up the posting enforcement, which is excellent. But they have done this fairly- cg.com still enjoys an extraordinary and unprecedented amount of "free speech" that makes our site unique. It also makes us by far the best chess website. |

 | | Tabanus: Well, cooking chickens has little to do with chess anyway :) I know their fantastic work, but they are only <two people>? Sargon and Annie, working
<full time>? Example of time-out: E Gomez is 1 month old. Plus my 60 games sent in a week ago. But I'll be patient and wait for Olga and the others. |

 | | Stonehenge: Priority nr. 1 should be the Daily Puzzle, Live Game, Game of the Day etc. Priority nr. 2 should be keeping track of what Biographers are up to (game uploads, correction slips etc). For many years I have worked my arse off for CG and I have felt completely ignored dozens of times. Not answering questions, not attending to correction slips etc. Maybe I should send CG a bill of 10,000 dollars, to wake em up. |

<Tab> I'm no expert, but I believe "Olga" is a hard working country girl from the Don basin. Let's cheer for her, like we cheer for "Heidi." Possibly this could help. |
|
May-13-19
 | | Tabanus: Well I'm tired of the endless application improvements. What if CG did the same amount of work in filling it with real Heidis and Olgas. NB Annie is a hero, I'll prove I mean it :) |

 | | Tabanus: <Don't worry, those standings can be edited.> Yes, but how to make the + - = show correctly? Perhaps it's too ambitious after all. |

 | | Annie K.: <Jess> thanks very much for your patience and support. I really appreciate it. <Boomie> while I approve of this specific initiative of Matt's, because it's exactly the sort of thing Gerry would have liked, in general I don't consider keeping his forum active a desirable idea at all. Nor do I want to change the settings from the way he (apparently intentionally) left them. <Stonehenge> I do consider the biographers a high priority, promise! Please post to the Bistro whenever something is particularly urgent. ;) <Tab> actually, <Sargon> just wrote a script to handle these special scoring cases automatically. We're looking forward to testing it! And your xtab looks great to me. :) |

| May-15-19 | | whiteshark: The Bundesliga (2018/19) ended a few weeks ago. The missing rounds / 194 games can be found here:

| May-15-19 | | mckmac: <Annie:... because it's exactly the sort of thing Gerry would have liked, in general I don't consider keeping his forum active a desirable idea at all...> Agreed:) I think we managed to blow up a few balloons for his birthday, and I hope I'm around next year to do the same. |

| May-15-19 | | thegoodanarchist: If anyone has any news from <offramp> please post it. Thanks. |

 | | Tabanus: <And your xtab looks great to me. :)> Well I pasted it into Grand Chess Tour Cote d’Ivoire (Rapid & Blitz) (2019). Perhaps two xtabs would be better, but the Rapid one would still have 2 1 0 in it. Anyway it's good to have the event on one page IMO. The name: probably either "Cote d'Ivoire Rapid & Blitz" (official name) or "Grand Chess Tour Cote d'Ivoire". |

 | | Tabanus: The 'I in Cote de Ivoire shows as ’I on my screen. Why not Ivory Coast. |
|
May-19-19
 | | Willber G: It should be Côte d'Ivoire but I don't think the missing accent matters much. |
|
May-19-19
 | | Tabanus: Well the Chinese looking sign for ' and I is now gone. I know it will come back later. Chrome cannot be trusted. |

 | | LoveThatJoker: <CG> Lot of puns by Sargon go on the GOTD. I am sure that there are many other members who have submitted puns...what gives? :) LTJ |

 | | LoveThatJoker: <CG> I just read about Daniel's/Demetrius' passing. I was unaware of this until 30 minutes ago. Kindly ignore my question regarding GOTD, as I am now aware of functionality issues. |

| May-21-19 | | Nisjesram: Admins/owners have delivered on their promise : they had said that they will improve the atmosphere in this site (including rogoff forum) , they will make it civil. Kudos to admins.
Thank you
