| May-22-19 | | rogge: In Rogoff anarchy rules, anything goes, and everyone must expect flak. Interesting from a sociological point of view, but quite sad for a <chess>-site. |
|
May-22-19
 | | Diademas: My beef is with someone coming here, claiming to restore civility, while in the very period being the worst abuser, and than gets a goldstar from the management. This someone has already been booted out of this community under another handle. I can only assume that since the owner applauds the comments made, she also condone his actions. Nice way to get rid of paying costumers! |

May-22-19
 | | moronovich: Ill go with <Diademas> The more this circus goes on,the more members do we lose. We have alreday lost quite a few and I am
not shure the current state is in the spirit of Daniel. |
|
| May-22-19 | | john barleycorn: <moronovich: Ill go with <Diademas> The more this circus goes on,the more members do we lose. ...> And some of those who stay stay to express their "recognition" of the latest developments here. <Nisjesram> he is awarded "medals" for his nonstop nonsense. ok, lets see how long this post stays here. |
|
May-22-19
 | | chessgames.com: Our apologies, everybody. There will be a cleanup shortly. |
|
May-22-19
 | | Diademas: If that concludes the cleanup, I would like to know the following; 1) Since the following post is still standing: <Susan Freeman: <Nisjesram> You are welcome. Thank you for helping and contributing. :)>
Is this still the managerial view?
2) Has there been any repercussions? |
|
May-22-19
 | | chessgames.com: <Diademas> No, the cleanup hadn't really started yet. Please check back tomorrow for results... |

 | | LoveThatJoker: <GOTD> I would like to see more variety as it relates to member contributions to puns and game selection. Is there anything that can be done to make this happen? I am willing to help. LTJ |
|
May-23-19
 | | Diademas: Kudos for your cleanup <CG>.
Now I'm just wondering about my two questions above. |
|
May-23-19
 | | Annie K.: <LTJ> We would like to see more variety too. All members are welcome to submit puns at the Pun Submission Page (you can also find this link in the Special Features section, in the right-hand column on the homepage). <Diademas> 1. I don't know what Susan had in mind specifically, but I hope that in general, everybody who helps and contributes knows that it's appreciated accordingly. :) 2. It has never been common practice here to publicize that kind of information. We can't stop you paying attention to posting patterns and guessing about their meaning of course, but please don't do that in the support forum either. |
|
May-23-19
 | | Diademas: Thank you <Annie K.> I'm not going to keep nagging on about this, but I think that users submitted to harassment has a vested interest in knowing that these actions comes with consequences. P.S. You're still #1 :) |
|
May-23-19
 | | LoveThatJoker: <Annie K.> Oh ok! :) So CG DOES have access to the puns on the submission page, so as to select GOTDs from there. I guess what is striking from a member's point of view is that every day the same name appears as the contributor to the GOTD, which somewhat lessens the contribution all members have made throughout the years. If more variety of contribution can be displayed on CG's homepage every day at 12am EST; then as a member, I will be more apt to thinking that CG is actively valuing my contribution to one of my favourite site's upkeep and daily renewal. LTJ |
|
May-23-19
 | | Annie K.: <LTJ> you just happened to come back at the wrong time for a spot-check. ;) We use member submissions as often as possible, and most of the time you will see a variety of submitters featured. :) |
|
May-23-19
 | | LoveThatJoker: <Annie K.> Alrighty...can't wait to see it. :) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
Good morning.
Is there supposed to be an animated <Google Privacy-Terms> sliding banner at the bottom right corner of my screen? Can anyone else see this?
I want to get rid of it, but before I try to do that, I'd like to know if this is specific to <cg.com> or not? |
|
May-24-19
 | | WannaBe: Yes, I saw it and google'd it, meself.
One way to resolve this, is to (If you use are using Internet Explorer) go to Tools, then in the middle, select compatibility view settings, and add chessgames.com Then that little (annoying) icon at the bottom right will go away. To confirm this theory, I went back and removed chessgames.com and sure 'nuff, that icon came back. If you are using a different browser, let me know and I will find out how to get rid of it for ya. |
|
May-24-19
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<MannBee, Steamed Colleagues> Aha ok if you are using Chrome, you can get rid of the new (annoying) captcha banner simply by using the free "adblock" extension. I just did it and the banner is gone. I used "google" search in order to discover this method of destroying a "google" notification. hmmm |
|
May-24-19
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
Well I just canceled my "work around fix" because the Ad blocker command I performed also blocks Olga Chess viewer. <cg.com>, might this new unwanted "Privacy Terms" banner have something to do with improvements you are making to Olga today? |
|
May-24-19
 | | Willber G: This might be of interest to <CG>: https://www.experts-exchange.com/ar... |
|
May-24-19
 | | Annie K.: <Willber> thanks. :) <Jess> we're not working on Olga, we're working on security and bot control prior to moving to https. There, the banner should be gone now. |
|
May-24-19
 | | Willber G: <Annie K.: <Willber> thanks. :) There, the banner should be gone now.> Yep, thank you. |
|
May-25-19

May-25-19
 | | Fusilli: There is a fantastic Boto-Buntic game, Bosnia-Herzegovina 2001, in the Fischer-Sozin attack of the Sicilian. IM Watson shows it in an ICC video on attacking the Sicilian, but it is not in this database. If someone can upload it, they'd be doing a favor to the CG.com community. It's a great attacking game with multiple sacs, fully GOTD-worthy. |

| May-26-19 | | thegoodanarchist: <LoveThatJoker: <GOTD> I would like to see more variety as it relates to member contributions to puns and game selection. Is there anything that can be done to make this happen? I am willing to help. LTJ> Hi LTJ,
My understanding is that anyone and everyone is invited to submit puns for GOTD. The only rule is that it MUST be about STAR WARS |
|
| May-26-19 | | Count Wedgemore: <tga: The only rule is that it MUST be about STAR WARS> And that <Sargon>'s pun suggestions get picked first. |
