Oct-25-11  JoergWalter: Here are a few handsome boys making pre-beatles music. George Harrison said on James Burton something along the line: "When I heard James Burton playing the guitar I recognized how feeble our stuff was".

Oct-25-11  JoergWalter: <"Those early sounds that we did, I just hated them. They sounded so puny. I mean, listening to James Burton playing on the Rick Nelson records... and we would come up with our stuff that was so feeble." Oct-25-11  brankat: <jessica> I don't know whether You have heard this one before.

During the 1962 Interzonal in Stockholm, a friend (reporter) took Bobby to a night club, where he introduced Fischer to a good looking young girl.

"This is Bobby Fischer" he said. Since the girl didn't really react he then asked if she had heard of B.Fischer. She replied sincerely that she had not. Upon which Bobby stepped in with: "Then You must be illiterate." :-)

Oct-25-11  Thanh Phan: <jessicafischerqueen> Asked and both Anh and Hanh said able to use their names if want

Glad you found the songs useful :)

"This is Bobby Fischer" is not the world's most clever line to talk up a girl in a night club.

Any wonder why Fischer's relation with the press was bad?

Oct-26-11  hms123: <jess> You continue to be feature video of the week for <nezh> but there's no mention of you on the chesscafe.com site.

http://www.chesscafe.com/video/vide...

Oct-26-11  playground player: <Jessicafischerqueen> Do you submit your videos to chesscafe.com, or do they just find them and use them? Certainly they ought to tell you when they use them, and give you the credit.

A few years ago I wrote a column for a little dinky website, and World Net Daily picked it up and ran it as their Column of the Day--without telling me (let alone paying me). I never would have known, if a friend hadn't spotted it and clued me in. There I was with thousands of new readers, and they didn't even notify me.

But that's the Internet for you.

Is this game not the all-time best example of an <OPPOSITE-COLORED BISHOP ATTACK>?

The final position is worth a thousand words.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Howard> and <Lee>

I didn't get where I am today by looking gift horses in the mouth.

Good thing I'm not a veternarian.

Yes I submit my videos to <chesscafe>- I submitted three so far. Usually they list the credits in the description, but you may note it's Mark Donlan's son, Kyler, who has taken over video spotlight now.

When I submitted <Nezh> three weeks ago, Mark Donlan sent me an email (no really, he did) the nect day, which he'd never done before. He thanked me for the submission and informed me he'd "put it in the queue" which is what he did.

Maybe Kyler Donlan, who has taken over the duty at present, thought there wasn't enough room to list the credits in the description.

Luckily, there's a new "comments feature" at chesscafe.com video spotlight. So far on <Nezh> Part Two, there's a comment now from "Alan from the USA."

So I just now sent in a comment in reply to "Alan from the USA" that thanks him on behalf of me, Richard, Annie, BIG TUNA, canyonero, and Thanh Phan.

Now, if they don't post my comment it may mean they are planning to invite me to a conference. At that conference, I'll be assassinated.

At any rate I'm counting blessings. <chesscafe> views account for the single largest source of views for all three of the "talkies" we made so far.

I know from looking at the "viewing stats" page on youtube.

So like I said, Neither Mr. JFQ (Richard) nor I has ever failed to recognize the importance of not complaining to people who are helping us.

Finally, you'll notice that <chesscafe.com> has a PayPal icon on their front page and a reminder to send in contributions if you can. The website is a labor of love, and well worth supporting in my view. Look at the masthead and see all of the superb articles and columns by some of the best Chess analysts and Chess writers in the world.

Also, if you're going to buy a new chess book, program, or DVD, why not buy it from <chesscafe.com>? That's how they make their money.

You'll notice they don't do any annoying "third party advertising"- the only ads are for chess products they are selling at their site.

Which is more than can be said for the low rent policy at <chess.com>.

Every time I sign in at <chess.com> a Korean "Dating Site" POP UP shoves itself in my face.

Class will tell.

The Soviet chess master Rashid Nezhmetdinov was one of the most feared attacking players in chess history. Although not well known in the West, he won many brilliancy prizes and defeated most of the best players of his era, including Mikhail Tal, Boris Spassky, David Bronstein, Efim Geller, Lev Polugaevsky, Isaak Boleslavsly, Salo Flohr, Andor Lilienthal, Gideon Stahlberg, and many other strong grandmasters.>

harrylime: Played my first game of the season recently.. as black got into a totally won endgame with a rook v knight and what's more I had two ferociuos and unstoppable passed pawns .. and over twice my opponents time left on the clock.

Well I blundered ! Kept moving quick when I had ALL the time in the world lol .. He threatend one of those passed pawns and there was no way of defending it, but I was playing fast and thought the game was in the bag..greedily kept my rook on the rank defending my pawn and he brought his knight back forking it with check lol

I'm telling you all this because I'm still NOT over it ! One of my worst defeats in chess . It was so won it's not true .. nervous laughter broke out amongst my team mates and surrounding watchers.. Ugh !

Lesson ? I've gotta be more patient .. play too much blitz chess.

Oct-26-11  TheFocus: I hope you weren't playing on top board. That would be embarrassing.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Jess> Do you still collect <fawn pawns>?

Here are a couple nice sacrificial examples :)

B Fleissig vs Schlechter, 1893
Olland vs Tartakower, 1907

Also, here's proof that even <Spielmann> can't hold against the mighty power of a fawn pawn :)

Leonhardt vs Spielmann, 1910
Spielmann vs Tarrasch, 1912
Bogoljubov vs Spielmann, 1919

Luckily, here he gets his own back :)

Spielmann vs E Cohn, 1907
E R Lundin vs Spielmann, 1931

Also, a game was just analysed in my forum in which <brankat> almost gets annihilated by a <fawn pawn> but his opponent blunders it away and loses :)

That's how they used to talk about Dr.Lasker. (M.Tal, too!) I feel flattered :-)
