jessicafischerqueen: <Harry> I'm not qualified to judge his chess.

However, I know how to read a cross table and move the pieces on the "Misty Beach" viewer. <Magnus Dei> is the most exciting player since <Kasparov>. He plays a universal style and no he does not "play like a computer" like he's accused of sometimes.

He tries to win almost every time, like Bobby.

He will be World Champion but he should never have opted out of the cycle.

However It's not Magnus' fault we have to watch BORING GELFAND try to grind down <The Vizier> in what promises to be the dullest championship since Wolverhampton Wanderers won the FA Cup.

BORING has <Aronian's> spot- Aronian was so sick during that Candidate's Event he almost died. I watched him sneezing and falling asleep on the web cam, he was sick as a dog.

I blame <Alexander "No guts" Grischuk> for attempting to draw his way to the World Championship. Great strategy Alex, really worked out for you.

I predict the <Grand Vizier> defeats <BORING>, but I'm surer of this prediction-

Every single person on earth- including BORING Gelfand's family- would rather see Magnus square off against the <Vizier> in the next world championship.

  harrylime: Agreed! lol

Magnus certainly has a 'universal' style, but I stiil sense affinities and influences from certain players from the misty depths of history.

Sounds a cliche but the more I play his games, the more I see Capa.. At first I saw Smyslov, but now I'm seeing Capa .. A silicon Capa.

I'm also seeing Carlsen.Amen for Carlsen and yes, he will become World Champion ..

As a player I think Fischer was more forceful, Carlsen plays openings and moves in those openings Bobby would never have entertained.Carlsen in lucid equal positions, seems quite content treading water and waiting, tho even his 'waiting' seems pretty deadly lol ..

Fischer possessed a 'universalism' in style and so indeed does Carlsen. But there are differences.. Fischer was less patient.Fischer was less accurate in tactical scenarios.Fischer was less flexible in his openings..

There are more differences ofcourse and many of these are in RJF's favour, but I'm waffling now ! lol

harrylime: And I'm wrong anyway. I just thought of a few games where nobody on Earth could be as patient as Bobby..
Mar-27-12  frogbert: <I'm wondering if there are any independent composers, or if you know any composers, who might be willing to consent to me using some of their work in my films. I mean people making independent music today- in classical or ambient style that's what I'm looking for.>

jessica, i know you probably find this unlikely, but in addition to other hobbies, i've also been composing music for more than 25 years now (i started when i was about 14).

i'm rather hesitant to promising anything, as my schedule is more than busy enough as it is (work, family, chess, etc.), but if you would provide me some samples of the kind of musical scenery you picture for your chess documentaries, i would consider whether i'm capable of producing something that you might be able to use, without any issues of copyrights or licenses.

please use the email address in my profile if you want to send me anything, or simply provide a link if that's applicable.

Mar-28-12  Boomie: <Jessaroo>

One of the Retro stations has a 3 hour stretch with Alfred Hitchcock ("Good evening ladies and gentlemen and those who arrived too late to be identified."), Burns and Allen (Gracie's son enters humming Here Comes the Bride, "Dum dum de dum". Gracie says knowingly "Dragnet!"), and Jeck Benny (Well!).

50's TV was a hoot and a half.

Boomie at the Boobie.

Mar-28-12  Albertan: Jessica and other friends in the World of Professional Chess some interesting news was announced today by the Governing body of chess (The FIDE):

FIDE Announces Dates for World Chess Championship Cycles: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...

"N.B., in the revised calendar, the next World Chess Candidates Tournament has been moved to March 13 – March 31, 2013. The tournament will take place in London."

"After today's announcement GM Magnus Carlsen was again surprised, albeit pleasantly so this time. "I never thought I would welcome a FIDE delay," he said, "but this time I am grateful for it. I have been quite vocal in my support of Bilbao and London, and critical of FIDE placing the Candidates in the middle of the elite tournament high season. Moving the Candidates Tournament to March suits me and probably everyone else in the professional chess circuit fine." (same source as above).

Mar-29-12  BishopofBlunder: Just wanted to stop by and gloat a bit. I play correspondence chess on chessworld.net and I just finished first in my first tournament, a 4 player, double round-robin guest tournament, and received a tournament norm. I finished with 5.5/6. Yea me!!! Funny, since I never thought I would enjoy correspondence chess. Now I must go ice down my arm. It is very sore from patting myself on the back.
Mar-29-12  BishopofBlunder: And, as always, my love to <MyQueen>.

You are a beacon in the lives of all of us. And a damn fine filmmaker. (and that's not just the whiskey talking)
