At the Grandmaster tournament which was Capablanca's coming out party, he was beating all comers at 5-1 odds. So I would say that Capa has to be on the short list of speed demons. Although they didn't have clocks in his day, Morphy never took longer than 12 minutes for one move (his famous queen sac against Paulsen as timed by an observer with a stop watch). I'd wager that the Morph would be one tough nut to crack in speed chess.
