Merry Christmas!

Dec-26-12  Travis Bickle: Jess, here's Paul McCartney's Christmas song he released many years ago. ; P

If you listen to John Lennon's song & then Paul's you can hear the difference in their music writing styles. Lennon's gift of words & McCartney's gift of melody.

Dec-27-12  BishopofBlunder: <jessicafischerqueen: ...In Korea they take one day off for Christmas but it's still considered a very minor holiday, despite the fact that upwards of 30% of the population is Christian.>

In America, Christmas has very little to do with being Christian. And vice-versa.

Despite that, Merry Christmas <MyQueen>! From <YourHumbleBishop>.

jessicafischerqueen: Good grief ok finally it's over. The term is over and I get four days off before Winter session starts.

Happily, I don't have teaching duties during Winter session, but I still have to go to work and make lesson plans.

I get all of February to go to Canada.

Hmmm all of this sounds strangely familiar...

On a personal note, I may or may not have pizza for dinner tonight. I have to go visit my Aunt Fictitious tomorrow in Sarasota. I will probably stay at a "Lucky 8" Motel out on Route Doesn't Actually Exist.

Ah, the age-old question. To pizza or not to pizza.

To decide I generally flip a coin, where heads equals 'to pizza'; and tails equals 'to pizza'.

<bright1: Nice finish by White>

37 ?

Q. Black has just captured the White e6-bishop with 36 ... ♘c5x♗e6. Should White make the obvious recapture on e6, or does White have a stronger move?

A. White has a much stronger move, one that forced instant resignation.

----

37 ♘e3-f5! 1-0 <zwischenzug!>

A lovely finish by White, not making the obvious recapture on e6 with 37 d5x♘e6?! but instead playing the much stronger <ZWISCHENZUG> 37 ♘e3-f5!, <DENYING> the e7-flight sq to the Black f8-king, thus threatening mate down the h-file.

I believe the finish is 37 ♘e3-f5! ♔f8-e8 38 d5x♘e6 and the Black e8-king has no <FLIGHT> <SQUARES> off of the 8th, so the threat of ♕h5-h8# is enormous.

Enjoy your holidays Jess ..

Dec-29-12  Travis Bickle: Hi Jess thanks for stopping by! I hope you are enjoying your time off. ; P

Here's a great song by a home town band. ; P

Dec-29-12  Travis Bickle: Jess here's another classic song by Chicago. It's so sad now, because the vocalist on this track Terry Kath who was also the lead guitarist for the band fooling around with a pistol accidentally shot himself many years ago.
