jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> Well some folks seem to have this "one note" kind of personality. In this case, it's persistent malevolence for the sole purpose of self-gratification.

More, unlike <Mr. Foyt>, this man has no excuse whatsoever. Not only should he know better, he does indeed know better. He just doesn't care.

Finally I get to know one of the new ones! So the closest I came was "Shake Monkey's Hand."

Entertainingly, the Monkey was subsequently deleted from the Caissars, which was pretty funny. Honestly I don't know where Daniel gets the patience.

jessicafischerqueen: <Lotsapoppa> hmm you probably realize this already, but me and <Ohio's> main topic was the malevolent behavior of <Mortimer>, although I keep mentioning the Monkey.

At least I think me and <Ohio> were discussing <The Foyt Baiter>. He's a little cryptic sometimes.

jessicafischerqueen: <tbonesteaks> Man what a great voice she has. It's the only cover I've heard of "Sweet Jane" that comes close to the power of the original.

One reason for this, as is typically the case, is that they have really arranged and sung their own very unique interpretation of one of the greatest songs ever written.

Interestingly, Lou Reed himself recorded many, many different versions, arrangements, and even lyrics for his own song.

Here is a very charged and energetic version by Lou: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRQl...

jessicafischerqueen: <Mack> thanks for all that Lou Reed, but let me give you a tip.

When posting songs here or elsewhere, but especially here in my forum, it's best to stick to one track at a time. Multiple listings or multiple consecutive postings is likely to prompt folks not to look at any of them.

I'll speak strictly for myself here, but I don't want to see anything from you in here that even remotely resembles the posting performance you put on in <domdaniel's> forum a while back.

Here's more advice. People who want to argue in forums, actually buy a membership and open one. Then they can argue all day long.

jessicafischerqueen: No I'm interested in all of your bio work. I was thinking about you and <Ohio> today in fact whilst researching <Vladimirs Petrovs>.

When I finish my research, I'll make a documentary on him and also re-write the bio. I much prefer the "detailed, better than Wiki" style you have been doing, as opposed to the two line summaries. Same goes for intros to games collections- I like the long detailed ones that <crawfb5> and <TheFocus> write.

I find the "just a list of games" approach to be sterile, although if the list is accurate it's an invaluable research tool, no doubt about it. But why not have both?

By the way, wasn't it you who urged me to do a documentary on <Petrovs> and also <Klaus Junge>?

I believe I demurred, but in fact I have accumulated some books on them. I have a German and a Russian book on <Junge>, and an English and two Russian books on <Petrovs>.

It's tough sledding on translating this material, due to the limitations of the Google Translator.

However, there are ways to cross check the information that aid in translating.

<Petrov's> story is one of the saddest in chess, as you know. What makes it sadder still is that he was a gregarious, cheery, albeit cantankerous sort. Nobody deserves to be murdered by Stalin, but especially not guys like him.

Jan-15-13  twinlark: Hi Jess

Yes I suggested Petrovs and Junge as subjects for your docos. Glad you're taking them on. I know what you mean about Petrovs...there are people we never meet, and even years after they die we feel sorrow at their passing.

In music, I think of Freddie Mercury and Frank Zappa. Still greatly missed.

You might be interested to see that Vladimir Petrov is being commemorated in a rapid tournament named for him in Moscow: http://chess-results.com/tnr77638.a...

Also Germany has had at least one tournament lately commemorating the late Junge.
