| Apr-10-13 | | Travis Bickle: Jess this song is for you M'Lady. ; )

|
| Apr-10-13 | | achieve: <Jess> Not sure if this is the correct translation, but in preparation to move to another house, a number of weeks ago (I have to be out by November, and I hate it), I collected 18 "refuse sacks" (waste bags) of junk and stuff that I never even had looked at in the past 10 years, and decided to throw it away. Aim is to get ready to "move as lightly as possible," because I have to be able to react quickly if the "right" accomodation/apartment gets offered to me. I want to be ready to leave within days without working like a slave carrying tons of stuff. Once I (briefly) got into that groove, I decided to get lighter and more organized on my hard drives as well, and it took a bit of courage, but once you get going there's no stopping!! Free up SPACE, free up space! becomes the new addiction then. "I don't <need all this, do I?" I'm strong! That type of thing. I'm not too concerned about a few sites being taken off-air, but if most of the internet is being shut down (Internet 2?) then I will still have enough material to carry me through several cold winters. It's not a morbid fear though, there are plans in some areas of the world to pinch off a substantial amount of sites we all have access to now. Does China still have youtube blocked? I'm not aware of the current situation in that regard, though. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Niels> yes I may be overreacting. I think that it's impossible to shut down the internet, maybe even impossible to shut down file sharing. I applaud your ambition to "move light"!
I've often said that the ideal amount of luggage for a trip or an apartment move is a purse or a wallet. |

What a wonderful song Peter Gabriel "Power of the Heart" and I hadn't heard it before either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bBK... Thank you so much for this. I love Peter Gabriel above all other musicians, as you know. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Niels> "refuse sacks" lol Last week I did "Spring Cleaning" and thought I was a genius for using giant garbage bags to organize everything. So I accidentally threw out my entire new summer wardrobe I'd bought in Vancouver this February. I sent off a panicked email to my Mom and she has "re-purchased and mailed" a new wardrobe for me. Of course, I'm a little afraid to see what she's chosen. At least she knows my size. |

| Apr-10-13 | | achieve: <Jess> <refuse sacks> There's a bunch of simple words of household appliances and stuff that I still - very reluctantly - have to put in the online translator, like the "vuilniszak" we use here to dispose of Garbage. Indeed giant upto a point, hip height? Depending on how tall you are... <So I accidentally threw out my entire new summer wardrobe I'd bought in Vancouver this February.> I didn't want to publically go 'LOL' on this one, but here you go, that was amusing, although you sure must have let out a few cuss words, I imagine. Pushing 30 now and maintaining waste size eh?
Good girl! And i mean that. Wish I could say the same (good girl!), a decade or so further down the road. wheeze |

| Apr-11-13 | | Alien Math: View search with alternate words also analogies to discuss topics, proxy servers, cached web pages, mirrors archives are some ways to around the blocked http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intern... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o... |

| Apr-11-13 | | Boomie: <achieve: Does China still have youtube blocked? I'm not aware of the current situation in that regard, though.> I chat and share Tubers with a friend in China almost daily. |
|
| Apr-11-13 | | achieve: Just copied this from wiki:
< China
See also: Internet censorship in the People's Republic of China YouTube was first blocked in the People's Republic of China for several months from 15 October 2007[14] to 22 March 2008.[15] It was blocked again from 24 March 2009, although a Foreign Ministry spokesperson would not confirm nor deny whether YouTube had been blocked.[16] Since that time till the present (as of April 2013), YouTube has not been accessible from China.[17]> So basically this information must be false? Or must be nuanced? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Niels> Youtube and all other sites can be unblocked in all countries with a click of the mouse. See <Alien Math> post right above <Time Bong's> post for more details and discussion on this. This is the proxy server I use, because it is browser based, fast, simple, and free, with no time restrictions, no spyware and no nonsense: https://www.vtunnel.com/ |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <TBOEN> I'm glad you liked it, it's one of my favorite songs. I initially became interested in her because of her outlandish name. |
|
| Apr-11-13 | | Thanh Phan: <achieve> Officially it may be true, in practice many citizens have learned to bypass the blacklisted keywords for searches and blogs or chat, the same for blocked sites, it's mostly a race between the censors and citizens for access I think <jessicafischerqueen> has had some practice at getting past blocked pages or sites using proxy servers and could explain further |

| Apr-11-13 | | achieve: <jessicafischerqueen: <Niels> Youtube and all other sites can be unblocked in all countries with a click of the mouse. See <Alien Math> post right above> Yes - that was my impression as well, hence my surprise at the "false/misleading" info wiki provided, although I realize that I am illiterate when it comes to proxy servers and accounts, until there is a need or curiosity, of course. And belated thanks to <Alien math> for providing the detailed info. I of course know how to get to TPB, via Malaysia eg, but i can not access the TPB.se website from here, after a court ruling prohibited it. |
|
| Apr-11-13 | | achieve: <Thanh Phan> Thanks, but no need from my end to further digress, which actually sprung from discussing "Compulsive Hoarding on External Hard-drives" ;) |
|
| Apr-11-13 | | Boomie: <achieve> As usual, the sainted sisters are right on concerning China. My friend bypasses "The Great Firewall of China" using a VPN. I should have remembered that from my voluminous correspondence with him but for the "Mad Cow". |
