Apr-26-13  technical draw: The only knock, knock I know is this:

knock, knock

Who's there?

Uncle Bucky's underwear.

Apr-26-13  TheFocus: I so do not want to hear the end of that joke <TD>.

jessicafischerqueen: My dear <TD> it's an honor to have any joke from you, who I understand has been crowned "lifetime funniest kibbutzer" by the administration.

It's even better that you stumped <The Focus>, since I didn't understand the previous Nok Nok joke I don't feel quite so dim now.

Thanks <The Focus> old pal!

Apr-27-13  Boomie: <JessieGo: <Boomie> might be interested in the Go players>

Indeed. The Chinese have just about broken the Korean hegemony in Go/Baduk/Wei Chi which has existed for almost 30 years. Of course, I have English web sites where I follow the players and results.

Apr-27-13  Boomie: <Jessiknees of Corinth>

Am dutifully wading through the mire of Timaeus. The heck was I smoking when I wrote that, eh? Jimson weed perhaps? The writing in Phido is so beautifully done that I wonder if someone else wrote Timaeus. I'm going to skip ahead to Aristotle to see if he had anything to say about this matter.

The elevation of number to ideal element was perhaps a Pythagorean invention. At least that is probably where Playdoh got it. Unfortunately there are no extant writing of Pythagorus.

"The so-called Pythagoreans, who were the first to take up mathematics, not only advanced this subject, but saturated with it, they fancied that the principles of mathematics were the principles of all things."

—Aristotle, Metaphysics 1–5 , cc. 350 BC

See for example the almost worshipful relationship of the Pythagoreans to the Tetractys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrac...

Apr-27-13  hms123: My favorite knock knock joke goes like this:

Me: I have a great knock knock joke. You start.

Other person: Ok, knock knock.

Me: Who's there?

Other person: ???? (total confusion)
