 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Harry> yep, "Butch Cassidy" and "Midnight Cowboy" are both old movies, but neither of them is dated. They both play as fresh as any contemporary film. And considerably better, I might add. Why don't they make movies like that any more?
Because they are too busy making movies out of comic books? Although I did like the movie <300> which was made out of a comic book. |

| Dec-14-13 | | Lonnie Lurko: <Shams: I wonder if this new member is Justin Horton? User: Candide1966> Oddly most of their posts seem to have been deleted, presumably as part of the ongoing pretend-the-Ray-Keene-scandal-isn't-happening operation. |
|
| Dec-14-13 | | Shams: <Lonnie Lurko> Wow. Are the admins really scrubbing all mention of the RK plagiarism scandals from the site!? I...don't know what to say about that. |
|
| Dec-14-13 | | Shams: <Lonnie Lurko> You should post more. You're averaging fewer than one post every three months! Here's a sample of your dry wit I enjoyed:

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Lonnie Lurko, Shams> Yes <Lonnie> I second <Shams> in wishing you posted more. I remember previous valuable things you said as well. With respect to <The Penguin>, I can't remember where the <666> guy posted the plagiarism links? If he posted them on Mondo's player page then there's no mystery. Mondo has administrative control of his player page.
Interestingly, since this fact is not well known around our site, "player control of his/her player page" is not a "default" setting at cg.com. I got it from our own <Mysterious Webmaster> straight up- I doubt this is TOP SECRET information so I don't feel I'm betraying his confidence by reporting what he told me via email. I'll just paraphrase since I can't be arsed to go back and look- A player has to request administrative control over their player page. Our <Mysterious Moderator and Venerable Owner in Chief> informed me that <PLAYER X>, who I had been asking about, had never asked for administrative control over his/her player page. Therefore, as of the date of that email, he/she did not in fact have any administrative rights over her/his/its player page. If <The Penguin> deleted <666's> posts, then mystery solved, and we can't find our own <CG.COM GRAND PIANO> complicit in some kind of cover up. However, if <666> posted some Mondo plagiarism links on other pages and Daniel zapped them, then I suggest we really do have a problem. I will post some <The Penguin> follies here now- I bet they don't get deleted: <Ray Keene plagiarism index>
http://streathambrixtonchess.blogsp... I agree with <Ohio> that no player should ever have the power to delete posts from his/its/her player page. Trolling is a small price to pay compared to the bane of propaganda, censorship, and revisionist history. If people who come to Cg.com think that the "history" here is bogus, that's very, very, very, very, very, very, very bad for our website. If Daniel himself deleted any of the Mondo plagiarism links, then the problem is MAGNITUDES greater. If this is so, I would consider packing up and leaving for good. Maybe I'll ask him. |
|
| Dec-14-13 | | Shams: <jfq> <With respect to <The Penguin>, I can't remember where the <666> guy posted the plagiarism links? If he posted them on Mondo's player page then there's no mystery.> Definitely not-- he posted them on game pages. I think most of them were not even Keene games. <Maybe I'll ask [Daniel].> I'd hoped you might. But if you even consider leaving for good I'll get on a plane to 대한민국 and drag you back here myself. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: My dear <Shams>
First, I'm impressed you know how to use the HANGMAN keyboard! After almost 7 years living in this country, I cannot type a single character correctly. I have to say I'm relieved by your information. Mondo plagiarism links don't belong on game pages, including <The Penguin's> own game pages. I think Mondo probably noticed them and blew the whistle for "off topic" posts and Daniel (rightly) deleted the material. Now, the fact that in the past, <The Penguin> has indeed deleted Mondo plagiarism discussion from "his" player page is a big problem. It's actually Daniel's player page, not his. I wonder if Daniel would consider revoking Mondo's administrative rights over this issue? I doubt it. At any rate, again- thank you because I think this lets Daniel off the hook, at least in this one case, for any really questionable behavior with regard to sanitizing his website just to keep <The Penguin> happy. Although Mondo *is* a major Batman villain, and as such perhaps deserves extra privileges. That's why I'm considering changing my ID name to "The Riddler." |
|
| Dec-14-13 | | Shams: <jfq> I just used cut-and-paste for that, no fancy keyboarding here. Is Mondo another term for the Penguin? |
|
Dec-14-13
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Shams> it certainly is. Actually I think <Karpova> knows a great deal about Mondo and shenanigans. I'm not an expert. I don't even like Batman films. |
|
| Dec-14-13 | | Shams: <jfq> I'm not a Batman fan either, but he deserves credit. He was an anti-hero back in the age when snoozefest All-American boys like Clark Kent were the norm. And he dated a journalist which just shows his good taste. <I wonder if Daniel would consider revoking Mondo's administrative rights over this issue? I doubt it.> I doubt it too. The Penguin goes back a long way with this site. I believe he used to be on the payroll; for all I know he still is. |

| Dec-15-13 | | Lonnie Lurko: If you try a Google search for "candide1966 plagiarism" you'll discover a few references that, unless I mistake myself, are no longer on the pages given. Or try "chessgames.com candide1966". |

Dec-15-13
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Lonnie, Shams>
Lonnie is correct. Worse, it seems a dubious reason why the original User: Candide1966 post was deleted, since it does concern the game in question. Step one: Google search page https://www.google.com/#filter=0&q=... Step two: Archived on that page:
<Dec-03-13, Candide1966: Korchnoi's annotations to this game have been plagiarized. See http://streathambrixtonchess.blogsp> Step three: Actual game archived on that page: Tarrasch vs Lasker, 1908 Step four: The link to the article proving that Ray Keene plagiarized <Korchnoi's annotations> of this game- note that in "step two" above that this web address was cropped on the google search page. Here is the full URL link to the web address in question- http://streathambrixtonchess.blogsp... Step five: The post archived on the google search page has been deleted. Why? The deleted post was not off-topic. It gave (accurate) information about chess history surrounding that page. I think this should be "front page" news. Give Daniel a chance to explain himself. We don't know the circumstances of how that post got deleted- not yet anyways. If it turns out that Daniel deleted it at the behest of <Ray Keene>, then I'd like to hear him publicly admit it. And provide a suitable explanation. If there is one. What do you think?
Something stinks here and I'd like to know what, exactly. I and several other people have been working very, very hard for months in order to edit the WCC pages- for free. I'd like to know that our work will not be subject to "further editing" at the behest of people like <Ray Keene> before I do any further (free) work. <Lonnie> and <Shams> - I'd like to hear your opinion on what action to take, or not take about this? |

|
| Dec-15-13 | | Lonnie Lurko: <I'd like to hear your opinion on what action to take, or not take about this?> I'm not on this site much and don't know much about its internal life or rules, so other people may have a much better-informed opinion than I. But certainly I would like to be given an explanation. |
|
Dec-15-13
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Lonnie> thanks for your opinion. Just to let you know, our website has no "internal life" and nobody pays any attention to the "rules" either. I'm depressed.
Not so much because I don't want to ask the question, but because I don't want to hear the answer. |

 | | OhioChessFan: I think the issue needs to be addressed. I think integrity is paramount in life. I would set aside all my enjoyment from this site and bid a fond farewell if I felt there was the need. Let me sleep on it for a month. |
