Sep-10-14  Travis Bickle: DJ/Jess, that song by John Lennon was recorded in 1970 off his 1st album after The Beatles split.
Sep-10-14  Travis Bickle: GenreJessica, Good Pink Floyd song! Sounds a bit like Crosby Stills & Nash with a lil bit of The Byrds mixed in.

Aha- No wonder then it sounds like The Beatles.

Yes you're right, "Guniverre" has a similar mood to some of the Floyd songs from the "Zabriskie Point" soundtrack.

It also reminds me a bit of Genesis as well, though I hadn't considered that before.

Here is a Genesis song that "Have Gunivere Will Travel" reminded me of:

Sep-12-14  Travis Bickle: Jess I like that mellow, harmonic Genesis song! Them doing a 2:41 second song is unheard of! ; P
Sep-12-14  Travis Bickle: Jess, here's 2 interesting songs by Pink Floyd, from their 1969 soundtrack album 'More'.

<Teem- Borscht Belt Fan>

I had been meaning to ask you about Sam and Max.

That's actually a video game right? You must be expert by now. How high a level have you reached?

There are dark rumours that if you reach the last level, you face the Final Boss: Henny Youngman.

<Karpova> Thanks for that amazing archaeological news about the ill-fated "Franklin Expedition."

After your post I found and watched the PBS Nova documentary on it, which is excellent. The news article you posted was a bit annoying in that it featured our Dictator for Life <Stephen Harper> trying to take all the credit for this historical find. No surprise there. He's used to donning borrowed robes.

Did you know that he prorogued parliament (illegally) when his government was about to fall due to a no-confidence vote?

This is all you need to know about Canada: nobody noticed or cared.

If Presidents Bush or Obama tried something like that in America there would be another civil war.

That's actually a video game right?>

It's an adventure game. You wander around aimlessly, picking up whatever isn't nailed down and chatting with everything. The chatting is the highlight of Sam and Max, especially with each other.

With the career challenged Sylvia Pandemik:

Sam: So, what's your latest gig?

Sylvia: We are the Queen of Canada.

Max: I though Rush was the Queen of Canada.

Better than just about anyone...

He had a 3 1/2 octave voice and really knew how to use it.

I just noticed a strange typo in my post. The queen's name is Sybil, not Sylvia. The Mad Cow is flaring up again.

Sam: How did you get that job? You're not even Canadian, are you?

Sybil: Heck no! We took two quarters of French in college and spell colour with a "u".

C.N. 8834

<The more disorganized a book is, the greater the need for a bibliography, general index and proper sourcing, but none of these can be found in 'Mannheim 1914 and the Interned Russians' by A.J. Gillam (Nottingham, 2014), a 525-page hardback which sorely needed a general editor and an English-language editor.>

Thanks <tbone>!

I love Bobby Darin. Did you see the Kevin Spacey movie about him? It's great.

Here is Bobby's first hit single, as seen on the Dick Clark show:
