Fusilli: <JFQ> Should I be a fan of this band? Maybe they need a beach head with the record labels in Nashville. Should I offer my services? I have the right name to be their manager!

http://www.marianastrench.net/

And if they need a local lawyer, there is <Martinez>. He can even put them up in his 32-room manor when they visit town.

Most definitely! I'd get on the copyright case immediately too. This band is known for their deep lyrics, and should prove a cash seacow for you.

Our friend's new law firm of <Martinez, Martinez, Martinez and Martinez> has already recently triumphed in an important suit heard before the <Nashville Municipal Family Court of Appeal and Parking Tickets>.

This was the infamous "I thought that was a dog in my Azaleas so I turned the garden hose on him, sorry it was your kid" case.

Fusilli: I am dying for an example of their deep lyrics.

There are rumors of a merger between <Martinez, Martinez, Martinez & Martinez> and <Chang, Chang, Chang & Chang>, the two most prominent law firms in the city. Have you heard anything?

I can vouch for Tim's firm.

If memory serves, they were instrumental in banging up The Cat in the Hat for a stretch in Ossining.

Ironic, if you think about <Martinez's> avatar.

hmm

We felt guilty about railroading The Cat...briefly.

For makes up, we arrange his appearance in a TV show. To his credit, he turned it into a hit.

The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!

Fusilli: Deep lyrics... of course. I'm not always the quickest on the uptake, you know...

I watched this documentary last night:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p0...

Pretty informative, despite the tone, more appropriate for a crime saga than a science documentary.

<Fusiliers> Thanks for the link to a documentary about yourself.

It was uploaded in fine resolution, I have to say. Unfortunately I don't "do" ads and I don't "do" anything from the "History Channel" because they stick their damn logo on every frame.

As a purist, I only watch documentaries made before 1950.

You should see some of the interesting things they have to say about new scientific discoveries! For example, in 1950, the Marianas Trench was only 6 miles deep.

I'm not sure if it has gotten deeper since then, or if the measuring has gotten more precise.

Great track, thanks! That was the first Genesis track without Peter Gabriel to be played on the old "FM" style radio format.

Genesis didn't get any "AM" airplay until radio became obsolete.

Fusilli: <JFQ> Too bad your pre-1950 documentary missed the first human descent to the bottom of me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challe...:

<Only four descents have ever been achieved. The first descent by any vehicle was by the manned bathyscaphe Trieste in 1960. This was followed by the unmanned ROVs Kaikō in 1995 and Nereus in 2009. In March 2012 a manned solo descent was made by the deep-submergence vehicle Deepsea Challenger. These expeditions measured very similar depths of 10,898 to 10,916 metres (35,755 to 35,814 ft).>

As of the documentary that you refuse to watch, the 1960 Trieste descent had been the only one ever done including humans. Two men were in the capsule. It had two layers of protective glass, and the outer layer shattered. Had the inner layer shattered as well, Mr. Piccard and Lt. Walsh would have been converted into pulp instantly.

Oct-01-14  Boomie: <Jessie Roo>

On the serious side, the Fall season is upon us and so a seemingly endless series of recommendations will follow.

In the "Nearest Thing to The Closer" category is "The Mysteries of Laura". It is more on the Comama than the Dramedy side, but the writing and acting is good enough to make the cut.

You are doing yourself a disservice. Just push your cutoff date to what was released before 1952 and you can view the wonderful Kon-Tiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kon-Ti...

At all costs, avoid the 2012 Norwegian historical drama film directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg about the 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition. It is pure garbage.

Oct-03-14  thegoodanarchist: Continuing on the subject of documentary films, there is 1988's Radio Bikini, which you may be able to view using a loophole because the film documents the nuclear tests performed around Bikini Atoll during Operation Crossroads in 1946, and uses footage from that year.
