<McLovin> Aha- yes quite right. I added "The Descent". And whilst doing so, I added "Ringu" as well. It's one of the best horror movies I ever saw, but I had forgotten to put it on the list. Thanks for the reminder.

<Hanh> Yes I do like "People Under the Stairs" remake, and I also liked the original. Cool monsters in them. |
|
| Feb-13-15 | | chessmoron: And also don't forget your recommendation for me to watch, the original "Shutter." You know, I pulled a muscle on my shoulder and had nightmares that the ghost in the film is sitting on my shoulder. |

<McLovin> Thanks for the reminder, and added. Yes "Shutter" is worth watching just for the final scene alone, eh? Great movie.

| Feb-16-15 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, you've probably seen this a few thousand times, but it's really good quality for 1967... ; P The Beatles invited some of their friends for the filming of this. You can see Mick Jagger with his then girlfriend Marianne Faithful, Paul Mac & Donovan. Ringo's wife Maureen is there along with George's wife Patti Boyd. There's a clip of John sitting with guitarist Michael Nesmith of The Monkees. Way back when 16 Magazine a teeny bopper magazine paired up Nesmith with Lennon for a short time in England & Paul with Micky Dolenz of The Monkees... McCartney must have ditched Dolenz. LOL! Paul & John wear old man disguises in a few shots & you can see McCartney conducting the orchestra as well as George Martin... I remember hearing this NEW BEATLES SONG!! many moons ago, as a wee lad on my transistor radio outside in summer time when it first came out. A Day In The Life - The Beatles

Great find <tbb>
I spotted some too I think.
Linda Eastman at 2:28
Also, in the orchestra, there's Alfred Hitchcock and Henry Kissinger. Though they may have been winners of a "lookalike" contest. |
|
| Feb-16-15 | | Travis Bickle: Yo Jess, Paul Mac hadn't met Linda yet so she couldn't have been there... As for Alfred Hitchcock and Henry Kissinger, those were just their doppelgangers. ; P P.S. I think Elvis Prelsey was secretly hanging out with The Fab 4. ; P |

Heh... I wonder who the video artist was. Maybe Paul? |
|
| Feb-17-15 | | Travis Bickle: I don't know who filmed that video for 'Day in the Life', but I doubt it was Paul, he was too busy hanging out & conducting, plus he looked very stoned... ; P |
|
| Feb-17-15 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, I'd like to see this film. It's about Ginger Baker of Cream... How can you download off the net to watch? Beware Of Mr Baker

| Feb-20-15 | | rayoflight: I think Candy movie (2006) is on a par with requiem for a dream.
--------------
"Once upon a time, there was Candy and Dan. Things were very hot that year. All the wax was melting in the trees. He would climb balconies, climb everywhere, do anything for her, oh Danny boy. Thousands of birds, the tiniest birds, adorned her hair. Everything was gold. One night the bed caught fire. He was handsome and a very good criminal. We lived on sunlight and chocolate bars. It was the afternoon of extravagant delight. Danny the daredevil. Candy went missing. The days last rays of sunshine cruise like sharks. I want to try it your way this time. You came into my life really fast and I liked it. We squelched in the mud of our joy. I was wet-thighed with surrender. Then there was a gap in things and the whole earth tilted. This is the business. This, is what we're after. With you inside me comes the hatch of death. And perhaps I'll simply never sleep again. The monster in the pool. We are a proper family now with cats and chickens and runner beans. Everywhere I looked. And sometimes I hate you. Friday -- I didn't mean that, mother of the blueness. Angel of the storm. Remember me in my opaqueness. You pointed at the sky, that one called Sirius or dog star, but on here on earth. Fly away sun. Ha ha @#$%* ha you are so funny Dan. A vase of flowers by the bed. My bare blue knees at dawn. These ruffled sheets and you are gone and I am going too. I broke your head on the back of the bed but the baby he died in the morning. I gave him a name. His name was Thomas. Poor little god. His heart pounds like a voodoo drum." |

| Feb-20-15 | | suenteus po 147: <jessicafischerqueen> Thank you for your post on Budapest (1896) You have always been a classy lady, and it doesn't need me saying so. I've been so fortunate to have the support of friends like you, <Benzol>, <Phony>, <nescio>, <sneaky pete>, <Annie K.>, and countless others who have made the game collections work as well as they do. The old author's apology goes: "Here are the people who made this happen. Everything in here that works is because of them, and everything that doesn't work is because of me," and that's certainly true of all the tournament collections you all helped me with. And then the moral support of friends like <WannaBe>, <keypusher>, <tamar>, <ketchuplover>, et al. are a big part of why it was such a pleasure to do the massive work of putting those collections together. I am a rich man, and thankful for the community here. |

Thanks <Peter>- I was just reading some of the further posts on the Budapest (1896) page, and I realized I do indeed have the source for many of the facts in the intro- I will find it and then I can footnote the source for some of the information. I believe some of the intro information also came from <Annie K's> research into Hungarian Chess history and <Charousek>. She can read Magyar. Anyways it's worth asking her as well if she can remember any of her sources. |
