May-15-15  Travis Bickle: Hey Deffi are you still playing that awesome Gibson?
May-15-15  Deus Ex Alekhina: I believe that a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, Open D said she was going to move to Canada. I wonder how that worked out.

  jessicafischerqueen: Deffi, I believe that the preferred chess terminology for children is "rugratten."

Isuppose that's why not so many chess players get married, although I have zero (0) knowledge of any such statistic.

Deffi your rare appearances make quite a stir among the Old Guard, or "Goverment Mules" as hey are also known. I wish so much that you could come by more often, but I do understand how busy your life has gotten.

Anyways you are loved here in this forum, and I'll wager you are also loved in more than a few other forums around the Kibbutz.

BB King's first hit in 1951. His singing is flawless here.

<TIMMAH!>

Did you ever see BB King at a live show?

Here is an audiovisual aid to help explain your new name:

May-16-15  Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: Did you ever see BB King at a live show?>

Nope. Unlucky since BB did hunnerts of shows per year for 60 years. I think one year he did 342 shows. Not a lot of time to breathe there. But it does show how hard work and persistence equals success.

Doubly befuddling since I was good friends with the guy who owned the theater in Seattle that put on all the R&B and Blues shows. How did I miss that action? Go figger.

May-16-15  Jim Bartle: Interesting that he played lines during the verses on '3 O'Clock.' Later he stopped playing at all while singing.
May-17-15  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess here's a list of some horror movies coming out this year... But don't watch this at night ok? ; P

<T-Borg>

Thanks for the horror! Once I started watching, I realized I hadn't actually seen a movie trailer for 10 years.

I have seen all those movies already except for <Insidious III>.

<It Follows> is outstanding.

Funny- <Lady in Black II> is one of the worst horror movies ever, but the trailer is actually excellent. Maybe they should just have released the trailer.

heh

<Hozza>

<Aston Villa v Southampton>

Ouch!

<Tim Sherwood> puts three at the back and puts his line almost at center field- so Villa can attack early, and then <Mane> scores 3 goals in 3 minutes!?

for Southampton...

I watched this game with Russian commentary, but I didn't need to understand the words when they kept cutting to Tim Sherwood holding his head in his hands.

Still not going to be relegated though.

Here is singing before the era of "auto tune" and other aids that today's big "stars" need:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eR...

Notice that Radiohead's lead guitarist has tendonitis in his "hitting the guitar" arm.

He didn't get where he is today by not getting tendonitis.

May-18-15  Jim Bartle: I had a college professor who told us he had been in the orchestra backing 50s teen heartthrob Fabian on a recording. He said Fabian absolutely could not sing, and that not only did they have to do take after take of particular verses or lines, but that the producers then had to correct his voice later.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabian...

May-18-15  technical draw: Fabian was a product of the recording companies search for a "great white hope" to oppose so called colored music.
May-18-15  Jim Bartle: Fabian, Pat Boone, Bobby Rydell (who was pretty good), Bobby Vee and many others, doing sanitized versions of R&B hits.

This was years later, but I remember the Smother Brothers had the Righteous Brothers on, who sang a tribute to Sam and Dave. Meanwhile, Sam and Dave were still quite active and had not been on network TV.

May-18-15  crawfb5: And then there was Salmon Dave, a one-hit wonder with <I'm a Sole Man>.
May-19-15  Boomie: And who would want to remember The Eagles ground breaking The Bird is a Nerd.
