In honor of the Star Trek 50th anniversary, I offer this

FABU FACTOID

The role of Mr. Spock was originally offered to Martin Landau. But the idea of playing a character without emotions seemed ridiculous to him. Actors are supposed to express emotions.

chancho: I watched an episode where Spock said he was "gratified."

As a Vulcan he is not supposed to feel a damned thing, but he is half human, so...

Sep-12-16  Boomie: <chancho> Spock slipped up big time when he thought he killed Kirk.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5p...

Sep-12-16  truepacifism: As a huge fan of ST, I must point out that being Vulcan is more about control over emotions rather than simply purging oneself entirely of emotions. Even though Spock is 1/2 human he is considered to be a Vulcan. We all have the ability to control our emotions, although many chose not to for some reason that I can't explain. It is difficult to control emotions in a world where logic seems to be underrated and emotions overrated. To advocate that people be more logical and less emotional invites ridicule, more often than not.
