<perfidious> I wouldn't trust <Kotov's> biography of Alekhine either. He also wrote a lengthy fictionalized drama about Alekhine, which is appropriate because it seems to me he had a tendency to blur the distinction between fact and fiction. |

<Whiteshark> I have some of Linders' previous work, and I'd give it a Z Minus because it proved useless in my own chess research. It's not properly sourced, but I don't know about his new book. I never will, either because I'm not paying for any more of it. That said, at least two of the excerpts you excerpted are also mentioned in Yuri Shaburov's <Alexander Alekhine- The Undefeated Champion (The Voice 1992)> Shaburov's biography includes a good deal of primary source material, including a transcript of Alekhine's grammar school grades, some documentation of his career in law school, and an account of his short lived career in the legal profession. Shaburov mentions these details from Linder's new work: – He had to give up chess for three youthful years because of encephalitis. (Shaburov- he almost died)
– When that failed he served as a criminal investigator whose job it was to study the scene of a crime and analyze it. (Shaburov) He did this, but as a member of a municipal legal review board, not as a "policeman" as such. - Planet named after him
lol which one does Linder say is named after Alekhine? Is it one of those new planets from other solar systems the scientists are discovering these days? I think there are hundreds of those identified already, though I was under the impression they are mostly named by Letter-Number combinations, such as the notorious new planets AK-47 and PT-109. |

| Nov-21-16 | | whiteshark: <jessicafischerqueen> Thank you very much for your quick and detailed answer! It is most appreciated!! It seems Alekhine's teeth will remain a mystery / tooth fairy tale for some time. <- Planet named after him > 1909 Alekhin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1909_... |

My dear <Shark> yes it seems to me that a detail such as a "time out" during that match would have been reported by a contemporaneous newspaper or magazine. |

<Hooza> brilliant pot by Bent, first time half volley in stride, with power! No keeper on earth is stopping that.Question: if Derby County got into the premier league, would they pack all 11 men inside the 18 yard box for the entire game as a "strategy"? That's what Middlesbrah is doing to Man City in the game from Week 11 that I'm watching right now. Shameful I call it, gutless scrabbling for a draw and I bet it doesn't work even. I'm surprised Middlesbrah doesn't just stack all 11 men inside the goal like Christmas logs, one on top of the other. The fan is the loser here. If the EPL had any guts they would split in half and have a Super EPL of 10 sides, to avoid this oft repeated travesty to the beautiful game.> Answer to your question.
I don't know.
Yeah Bent's goal was as cool as fcuk but went un noticed in England .. the media here obsesses on the usual stuff( Mourhino, MANYOO, Arse ect) here and we've not won the World cup since 66 and then they wonder why ?? lol lol Not seen the game you refer to but Boro exist on a fraction of Citeh . I remember Citeh scraping around in the third tier of English football on their knees .. begging .. forlorn .. playin @#$%e football ... lol lol Then they get pumped ooop with oil money ect .. Whatever.. You're moving towards more elitism in your suggestion .. I'm thinking in the opposite direction. |

<Plan 1909 From Planet Alekhin> A classic! <Tim> did you ever see that program where two idiots did funny commentary on ridiculously bad old sci-fi and monster movies? I can't remember the name of it but it was one of my favorite shows, even though they made fun of some of my favorite movies. |

<Hozza>
<You're moving towards more elitism in your suggestion ..> Quite right and that hadn't even occurred to me. My solution would only make the real problem worse. What about this-
1. Strict "fair play" financial regulations on how much each club is allowed to spend on new players and transfers. 2. A minimum number of English players is required for each English football club. It's more than a little ridiculous when <Man City> competes for the <OOFA CHAMPIONS> as an "English" club when Stirling is the only actual Englishman left. |

MST3000 closely fits the bill if you consider one of the puppets to be an idiot. They are rerunning those on one of the retro channels. |

<Deffi> Yes I was investigating the recent CAR JACKING yesterday. I predict the world chess championship will be CAR JACKED. I've already notified relevant local and international authorities. Or I would have if I knew any. I don't even know the names of any local or international law enforcement agencies. |

| Nov-23-16 | | Open Defence: It was a wonderful game, even the GM annotations dont cover some interesting possibilities, for example I didnt find 47.Qb5 which is a fairly straight forward drawing line discussed by the GMs Also there is the curious 51.Qb7+ which I am looking at now of course 46...Kh7 by Karjakin could have made things much more difficult for White as Caruana has noted |

<jess: At least <He Mate Me> comes up with the most inventive, and hilarious, insults against his fellow Kiwi <Colonel Mortimer Snide>.> Go easy on the <Colonel>, if you will please. He's grown a lot since the Troop days, and matured into a good poster. You may disagree with him (a lot of people do), and disapprove of his choices of topics and slant (some people do), but he certainly can't be called objectionable in a forum that features the likes of <Auntie Matter>, <liceman>, <morkvetchine> and <optical ploy>. Also, <HeMateMe> is from New York. ∞ |

<Abdel I>- Rapper I didn't get where I am today by ignoring your suggestions. I officially give <Mortimer> another chance. I had no idea New York was in New Zealand. Makes sense if you think about it though. Possibly the origin of both derives from the "new" peoples, whoever they might be. |
