Domdaniel: <harry> Ye gawds, you sound exactly like Jeffica would sound! Such artistry, man. You are clearly a very talented mimic.

This may explain how you sometimes seem to be impersonating an idiot.

But now we know it's an act, right?

<Dom> That's amazing that Leonard Cohen wrote a poem about CASTOR, but even more amazing to me that you knew about it. Actually I'm not surprised you knew about it, given your prodigious book lerning.

I can tell you I was a lot sadder to hear of <Leonard> passing than I was to hear about <CASTOR>.

I "almost met" Mr. Cohen in Montreal. The folk singer Andrew Sweeny knew him because they both meditated at Leonard's sister's house just off St. Laurent. Andrew was there just about every monring, but Leonard only pitched up once in a blue moon.

Andrew told me that he had brought a friend to meditation on one of the days Leonard was there.

"What kind of a man meditates in sunglasses," she asked.

The second anecdote I can vouch for first hand, kind of. Andrew was playing at a tiny show I was hosting just off <The Main> and he told me that he had spoken with Leonard that morning at meditation- and Mr. Cohen had promised to catch his set.

Mr. Cohen didn't arrive, but in his place he had a friend deliver a foil plate of his leftovers from a Lamb Dinner.

The lamb was delicious. Andrew wasn't crestfallen, or if he was, he showed no indication of it, given the gusto with which he tucked into our used feast.

<Hozza> You definitely deserve to be first reserve, and you can consider the position yours.

I was off hiking in the mountains for five days, so you really saved the bacon on this occasion!

Fell free to be my spokesmodel at any time.

Heh... thanks <Ohio> but it's tempting to be a little reckless up there because of "the juice."

I was visiting the Hyunpoong mountain ridge, which is about 20 km long. I was up there every day and I got to the top of all of the peaks except one- even though I had a good map, there was no trail listed for this one.

So I thought "hey it's on a ridge, do I really need a trail"?

I got to the rocky part of the peak and there was some serious exposure, but I figured as long as I stayed on the "trail" I would be safe.

The last part involved traversing a knife edge band of upthrust granite that was clearly unsafe. But I knew I must be almost at the top, so I figured "I can do this on hands and knees." I did this, and once on the peak I saw some tattered, perhaps centuries old Buddhist prayer flags, and a tiny marker that told how high the peak was.

Then I began to have a panic attack that I would be too scared to go back across the narrow rock band and figured I would just die up on the peak, because I could never move again.

Then I thought "nahh you can just go back the same way."

So I did. This was probably an ill-advised venture from the get go, but I doubt I will ever forget this particular peak. I have no idea what the name of it is though, because I can't read Korean and all my maps are in Korean.

I do know the word "peak" is called "bong" in Korean.

I do know the names of some of the peaks in my home mountain range, the Daegu mountians. The highest one is called "Biri-bong." It's next to the slightly lower "Dong-bong," and as GHOD is my witness- next to "Ramma lamma ding-bong."

Domdaniel: <Jeffica> Is it *really* called Hyunpoong ... ? As in *High on ... [mildly obscene sexual term deleted]*.

Words fail me.

Well, no, words don't *rilly* fail me. That can't happen - I respect words and they still do their thing for me.

But, hey.

The real Elvis, Mr Costello, hails from Liverpool, I believe. And Lonely Street is a familiar address in that fine city.

Didya hear about the Korean Rastafarians? They refer to themselves as 'Hyundai' ...

Hyunwords.

<Hozza>, <Travis>:

lol did you know that <Lennon> and <McCartney> were both in the starting lineup for <Everton FC>?

Here is SCIENCETASTIC PROOF:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron...

I noticed this recently because McCartney is a midfielder and Lennon is a winger, so they're often involved in play on similar parts of the pitch.

Which means the announcer is regularly forced to say "Lennon and McCartney."

ahhh
