I should be delighted to back the Aussies in the "Cricketing."

I have never understood the rules of American "based balls," but I know Cricketing.

The Aussies are a chary lot, I can tell you, and well worth supporting.

I remember well the great "New South Wales Balls scandal" of ought six.

It seems the Aussie bowlers were substituting dried Kangaroo balls for the bona fide item at key moments.

I had no sympathy for the hapless opponents. In Australia, Cricketing is a man's world.

Well, first of all, respect for all the effort you put into watching those ManU highlights. It’s mystifyingly stupid that stuff is only available in certain countries, but it happens to us too sometimes.

Yeah, <Beckham> had the looks, but was clearly absent when the charisma was handed out. <Cantona>, on the other hand, must have received a double helping.

The worst aspect of Beckham’s career was his gradual shift from someone who took risks and was determined to take control of the game, to the guy who worried more about his media image. It was suddenly not cool to gamble and fail, so he played safe. His crossing and taking free-kicks remained top class, but his mojo had gone, and he was no longer a regular match winner. Football became just a small part of his life. It drove <Fergie> mad, and led to their famous spat.

I can’t say I enjoyed either Euro Final. The rest of Europe must have been watching in disbelief, trying to fathom how the Brits had dominated both competitions.

I’m still trying to understand how Spurs could play so badly. Liverpool were well below par and yet, Spurs seemed determined to be worse, relying solely on <Son Of A Gun> to find the magic. He tried bloody hard, but must have been wondering if <Dele Catessan> and <Eriksen Mobile Phone> were even on the pitch. I’m probably being a bit harsh. <Pocket Watch> has to take some of the blame – Moura should have started in my opinion, and <Kane And Abel> should have been confined to the subs bench with zero match fitness to call on. Of course, it’s easy to be an armchair general, but Liverpool barely deserved the win – the quality of their back four may have been all that swung things in their favour.

<Pointed Stick>

I have to agree. I was horrified to see <George Lucas> was left out of the lineup. I don't know what <Lake Ponchontrain> was thinking. Ok you know <The Kane Mutiny> wanted to be on the pitch and how can you say no to him- he's already a franchise player. He might even be a franchise period. Have you bought any Harry Kane gear yet?

At any rate it didn't have to be an either/or.

You just put <Moura> on in the midfield and tell him it's ok to run up wherever he wants, like <Lionel Mess Tent> does. <Spurs> should have wanted to gamble on a high press anyways and <Shaka Zulu> has been in such good form as a holder when he's not actually giving the ball away. Or giving away a penalty in the first 10 seconds.

I wouldn't be surprised if <George Lucas> took this hard. When is his contract up? He carried a lot of water for <Spurs> this season, not to mention the millions he brought in to the franchise with his Star Wars trilogy.

Seriously if he wanted to leave the club over this I wouldn't blame him.

He did all of the work to get them in the final. He scored with zero seconds left. You don't leave him on the bench case closed.

Also I think <Arsenal> has a curse on them. Possibly <Arson Bengal Tiger> did it after the punters hounded him out of the stadium.

Every single time they show <President Obamayang> on the telly he has this terrible look on his face, exactly as if he's thinking WHAT DID I DO TO END UP HERE WHAT A TERRIBLE MISTAKE THIS HAS BEEN.

He could play for any club in the world. Now look where he is. <Gunners> have no guts and it's obvious there's something wrong with the current lineup- they don't work together. I blame <Karlis Ozols> (lazy) and <Alexander Tea Cosy> (prima donna).

How many billions of pounds for the three of them and they don't work well together. I doubt they like each other.

Poor <Emil Emory Board> as if he didn't have enough to worry about looking, and behaving, exactly like <Borat>.

Jun-05-19  Paint My Dragon: Indeed, a real slap in the face for hat-trick hero <Lucas Rodrigues Moura I’ve Got A Very Long Name da Silva>, but he’s not been there long and will have a longish contract, so hopefully he’s not the type to chuck his rattle out of the pram.

I also thought <Hozza Winks> was playing well when <Pocahontas> brought him off … oh, well.

You’re right about <The Arse>. They and <ManU> need a total rebuild, or will start next season with severely limited expectations. Half-hearted, overpaid tossers like <Messedup Dispozil> and <Alexis Spamcheez> need to be eradicated from the EPL. They won’t command much of a price, but in terms of regained morale, the value of their exit will be enormous.

Probably sensible to replace <Emery Cloth> with the real <Borat> and if Arsenal’s performances are still rubbish, then at least the after-match interview will be comedy gold.

<Pork Cutlet>

You know I mentioned this before but I was watching the match- the entire match- when <Garbage Dispozil> scored five (5) goals eh? What a waste of talent though if you can't hunker down for the trench fighting.

I was also watching the match- the entire match- when Polish <Bayern Moenchkin> striker <Robert Redford> scored six (6) goals and he scored all 6 in about 20 seconds, if I remember correctly.

These are the rare "real time gems" that can happen when you waste half your life watching entire matches instead of just catching up on the highlights on youtube like a normal person.

Are they worth spending so much time in front of a footy match?

Good heavens no they are not. Still I remember running around all day telling students in broken Korean how <Robert Redford> just scored 6 goals in 10 seconds. It's funny Korean students are all fanatical Premiere League fans- they know every statistic on every player- but they don't follow the <Gisele Bundchenliga> or <Serious A>.

I agree. These guys are ridiculously talented and can turn it on big time when it suits, but all too often, they seem demotivated and their lesser paid colleagues get understandably hacked off.

That's why I'd prefer someone like a <Josh King> at my club. You could expect to see improvements in work ethic, consistency, teamwork, team spirit etc from the get go. It's the stuff that Leicester's EPL Championship winning team was based on.

Not just him of course; I reckon some of those attacking midfielders at Watford might be worth taking a chance on too. Come on Ole! Transfer market starting in earnest imminently.

Some good English Language dramas finally on the horizon here, after a prolonged lean spell. Handmaid’s Tale 3 … Killing Eve 2 … and I would hope Taboo 2 and Peaky Blinders 5 won’t be far behind.

Another intriguing trailer doing the rounds is for the new HBO show, <His Dark Materials>, with <Ruth Wilson> and <James McAvoy>. It’s due on the BBC soon I think …

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qz...

Looks super fresh. Wilson is one of our finest actresses here in Blighty.

Any of these shows hitting The Great White North and/or floating your boat?

<Punt brand pitted prunes (now with added Fårikål)>

Thanks for the detailed heads up on upcoming Blightelly shoes.

I did investigate your leads, but really it's only <Peaky Blinders> from that set that interests me.

Why because <TOM HARDY IN A SPITFIRE> was the culmination of a horribly mis-spent life in front of the telly.

It was <Hozza> put me on to that. At any rate ever since I have looked for <Tom Hardy> at every turn. I have seen the first three seasons of <Peaky> so your post informs me that I have a whole season to catch up on and another coming soon amirite. Wonderful!

If you also secretly would rather watch <Tom Hardy> more than anyone else, including <Punt brand Scarlett Johannskone (now with added Lutefisk)>, then you might enjoy <Taboo> starring <TOM HARDY BUT NOT IN A SPITFIRE THIS TIME>:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt364799...

I'm not sure when they will get around to season 2, but if you haven't seen season 1, I recommend it highly. Having watched most of <Tom's> work now, I like this series the most.

Fun fact did you know that <Scarlett Johanssen> was not only Norwegian, but has enjoyed shocking marriages with both <Folke Rogard> and <Tabanus>?

<Paint my Football red and white>

Is it true that the World Cup starts this summer? I'm already so terrified of spoilers that I haven't looked for a schedule.

Are we still backing <Blighty>? Every four years I say "I'm not putting myself through that again" but there I am bleeding at the end of every new tournament. I expect this one will prove no exception. I hope <Citizen Kane> and <Delli "Mohammed" Ali> are both doing some roadwork because they both looked FLAT in the big shoe, as you also noted.

Jun-09-19  Paint My Dragon: <JessicaFootyScene>

Well ... Blighty can include the whole of GB, so technically, you could support Wales and still say you're supporting Blighty. For me though, I have no real choice but to support those frustrating fellows who wear the three lions on their chest. It's usually painful of course, like watching them play the Dutch the other night in the Nations Cup thingy ... and believe me, if you missed that, then it was a mercy.

Nah ... no World Cup for a while ... Euros in 2020, WC in 2022.

The following WC (2026) is one that should have you excited though, as I believe <Canada> is co-hosting. You will be able to witness it in glorious 3D. Of course, if we get hit by that giant (footy pitch-sized) asteroid in September, then there will be no World to have a Cup for. Pleasant dreams!

Oh, it sounds like there's a queue developing for <Scarlett>'s hand. Will <Charlize> be a better prospect for matrimony? I'm really not that fussy.

Yeah, <Tom Hardy> is <the dude>. I'm a big fan of Taboo and Mad Max:Fury Road ... and who could forget <The Mayor Of Casterbridge> and <Jude The Obscure>? Impressive writing for an actor.

I can defo confirm that <Taboo 2> is on the way - look, here are some peeps talking about it ...

<Paint my Football>

Ok thank you I think I know what I was "thinking" about. It's the women's World Cup that's on this summer. I don't really watch women's footy, not because it lacks quality necessarily- although it most certainly does- it lacks the intensity of <Kevin Keegan class> acceleration, which is critical to create the high intensity that really makes a footy match gripping. This intensity is absent from the women's footy.

Maybe if I weren't spoiled by the (occasional) mens' footy match that features such intensity, I wouldn't mind so much, but as it stands women's footy looks to me like it's being played underwater. Slow motion. On the other hand folks like me who only watch their footy on internet reply could potentially watch the women's footy on 2x speed enhancement. Seems like a lot of trouble though to view an inferior product.

I'm very excited about Tom Hardy's "Taboo" coming back, thank you for that headlight!

I was scared to check on the internet for fear of seeing plot spoilers. For that reason I didn't watch the link you kindly provided either.

I'm hoping that <Tom Hardy> hasn't been replaced by a 4 foot tall Muslim woman of color pansexual who enjoys fire bombing Christian churches in her spare time, in order to increase the "inclusivity" of the series. I wouldn't put it past English telly these days.

It's a great series, not only because of Tom Hardy, but I doubt I could overcome such a jarring, not to mention idiotic, alteration. I'm hoping I die of old age before such things actually happen, though I have my doubts about that too.

More than 10 years ago I broke the kibbutz boxes by typing very long lines of "quack" and apparently it breaks all the boxes not just the one you type in eh?

Thank goodness for "Top of the Pops" eh? It's an institution, like <Kevin Keegan> or <Kenny Dalgleish>.

Brian Ferry/Roxy Music cannot fit any one genre of music. They are too good to "define" like that. Here he sounds like <Lou Reed> but Ferry Boat was always exploring new vistas.

Brian Ferry a true artist he reminds me of <David Bowie> as well, in that respect.

Here is an interesting Bryan Ferry video that starts with a woman sticking her ass right into your face.

This was a hallmark of 80s videos? lol

Well I did break down and watch the Canadian team win today in the <Slow Motion Cup> women's footy competition. My Mom is all over it and was hooting when we scored the 2nd goal.

Still dismal footy if you ask me, but I didn't want to rain on her parade.

Jun-17-19  Paint My Dragon: <SilicaFissureSeam>

Bryan Ferry and Sting may be north-east England’s only claim to music fame, but while they were strutting their stuff, I spent a lot of time in bars watching a little known band called Hurrah! Here they are on The Tube, back in the day …

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcw...

I hear what you say about the influx of <politically correct> English TV shows. Gender, race, religion … things have certainly gotten out of hand with the tick-box brigade. I don’t think the Spanish have yet had the memo though. <Locked Up> is their answer to <Prisoner Cell Block H>, and my early impression is that the ladies' shower-room is a very popular backdrop for telling the story. Yes, they remembered to include women of all races and religions, but it seems their sole purpose is to contribute as much <boobage fodder> as possible. I suspect the BBC will not be commissioning it.

Quite lucky to have a mom who is even mildly interested in footy. I would gladly watch <lady soccer> around at my mom's place if it meant a switch away from her usual diet of mind-numbingly tedious soap operas. Alas, it's unlikely to happen. On a more positive note, she remains an awesome <table tennis> player, and I have recently put her into training for a future over-90s world championship, should such a competition exist.

In other news, unwanted distractions have risen to a new level here, as I will soon be hosting the visit of college friends and the clean-up frenzy must begin. So it’s goodbye for the moment. Try not to get eaten by the <Sasquatch>.
