<The Correcting Anteater>

I know brah where did you think <Ice Cube> got the word "bidness" from in the first place? Fun fact when he wasn't rapping or starring in the (very funny) comedy movie "Friday," <Ice Cube> enjoyed wearing a wool shawl whilst sipping herbal tea in the cool New York evenings in Bed-Sty.

When criticized by fellow rappers, <Ice Cube> explained that it wasn't a shawl, but rather a "thawl," a type of clothing that he himself had invented.

To this day, <Ice Cube's> strategem has never been penetrated by his musical peers.

Interestingly, in Alberta they call it "the a oil bidness," instead of the more proper Texan phrasing "the the oil bidness."

<Tim> In keeping with the nickname tag only pgns featuring people you knew in Washington State, I present another example!

[Event "Match"]
[Site "Seattle USA"]
[Date "1962.??.??"]
[Round "5"]
[Result "1-0"]
[White "Power to the Pupols"]
[Black "Zemily"]
[Source "J. Donaldson 'Emilis Zemgailis'"]

...95 Kg2 1-0

=========

This game was 95 moves, and it's too early in the morning to be doing that much typing. Luckily, I have no doubt in your ability to deduce the entire score simply by tracking back "logically."

If the nicknames are too abstruse here I can help with the cipher key.

You knew <Power to the Pupols>, but you may not have met <Zemily>.

This was none other than <Emilis Zemgailis> who became known as "Zemily" by his American friends because of his devotion to "The Emily Novels" by <Lucy Maude Montgomery>.

You're a good person.
I appreciate what you posted at Rogoff.
Really, it all comes down to tolerating/accepting a difference in opinion. If that's not possible, (agreeing to disagree) then there's not much to be done about it. But I won't be browbeaten by anyone because they don't like what I post.

<chancho> I will always remember better times among us cg.commers and hope for better in the future.

I was also thinking today about the time I went after <Natalia Pogonina> like a rabid hedgehog for not making it clear on her website that she held the <WGM>, not the <GM> title.

It looked like I could get sued, or <Ohio> thought I might even get kicked off cg.com. What I remember most is how you and <Ohio> helped calm me down, whilst reassuring me that the situation wasn't all that bad. If I remember correctly he even said he agreed with me, though it was clear that I was going about things in a hysterical way. I hope I never do anything like that around here again, at any rate.

I think you said something like "Don't worry Lotsapoppa, it will be all right." Did you say that? It's what I remember, but of course *you* were Lotsapoppa. And remain Lotsapoppa. It's hard to remember things, especially when you are too lazy to surf the <Search Kibbutz> function. I don't think I have ever done that. And I never will either...

Anyways what I remember most about that moment is treasuring friendship with both of you. As I always will no matter what happens. You've both been grand to me over these many years now.

How long do you think it will be until real punters are allowed to sit in the stands again?

Dear <JessicaSpellingQueen>,

All I can think of, in this time of hilarity, is your discussion with our Dutch friend about <Wijk an Zee>

It's <Wijk aan Zee>, he said.

As GHOD is my witness, I really did not notice the extra "n" on repeated instruction.

Jul-07-20  Paint My Dragon: <Jessopotamia>

The return of seated spectators? I’ve really got no idea when that might happen. I'm surprised that they don’t let NHS workers attend. People want to reward them for their efforts these past few months … so why not give them free entry to all premiership games? There’s so much space it would hardly constitute a health risk. Could only add some real crowd noise to the mix if a few turn up.

I confess I am warming to that <painted football>. For one thing, the colours aren’t far removed from ‘red Manc’, which means that the ball is on our side, right? My other observation is that it looks like a white ball that has been smeared with oil and roadkill, which takes me back to my childhood, playing in the streets. Aaah, nostalgia … it’s not what it used to be.

Well, as you’ve probably noticed, the reds are doing okay and the white harted brigade … well … mixed results? Is that generous enough?

I do feel a little sorry for our newest recruit <Odour In The Igloo>. He arrived, did great things, won a place in the team, yet post-interregnum … has been usurped by <Mason Dreamgood>, a boy who many are predicting will surpass the achievements of the young <Mickey Rooney>. Hard to see how Igloo now gets a starting place with Martial and Rashford also pulling their weight.

The whole team is playing well. Even <Auto Matic>. He needed a new contract, so his work rate just went up 25%. An energized Matic playing the sweeper role gives wonderful protection to the back four and allows <Toby Maguire> and the wing backs to surge up the field more often. Sadly, he now has the new contract, so I’m expecting that these promising performances might tail off soon.

I can’t even begin to analyse what is going on in <José>’s camp. Over to you! What happened to Bergwijn? Poor old <Kane & Abel> is now half way through his contract having rejected the prospect of playing for a Spanish giant. How will he be feeling about that? In a way, that’s how it turned out for <Alan Sheep Shearer>, but at least he had his glory days at Blackburn … and hence the license to endlessly taunt <Gary Spinnaker>: “Have you ever won the Premiership, Gary?”

<Stop Painting my Footballs>

A stellar report! Thank you and especially for the absence of spoilers.

I have been continuously weeping since I saw <Spurs-Sheffield Excited>, but I am steeling myself for yet another round of self-flagellation with <Spurs-Foreverton> tonight.

I will file my footy report after that ominous sounding fixture. Foreverton boasts two lads up front who will likely make life difficult for us- <Calvin and Hobbes Lewis> and <Richard Charlatan>, if I remember correctly...

I was going to warn you off that, but wasn't quick enough, seemingly. (Don't you know the results in advance?) As for the <Neverton> game, let's say Spurs owe me a fiver ....

I'll also warn you off the aviation fuel. Try a dose of protium hydroxide instead.

<Esteemed Roman Tax Collector>

I never know the results in advance. If I have time I prefer to watch an entire match, especially when <Gary Neville> is in the booth.

You really know your Latin! I suppose that makes sense, given your occupation. I only know a bit, but luckily the bit I know is animal names.

"Ursus Horribilis" is the notorious Grizzly.

Latin animal scientists are torn between "Ursus Arctos" and "Thalarctos Martimus" for the notorious Polar Bear.

There is no doubt about "Protium Hydroxide" though!

I know him well. The notorious Tufted Rock Hyrax.

This science will help explain...

What a magnificent bastard this animal is eh? I had no idea you knew your animals as well as footy.

<Spurs v Neverton> indeed.

ANEMIC.

It's a good job there were no punters in White Hart Lane because it would have been embarrassing to see them all leave after the first "Water Break."

Pele didn't get where he was yesterday by taking water breaks.

ManU v BOURNEMOUTH report in "real time":

Many plus points for the <Stone Roses> at Old Trafford. Off to a good start!

Reds gaffer <Origami Social Studies> smiling; Cherries gaffer and NHL hall of famer <Gordie Howe> looking concerned. And so he should be.

"Woke" addy before the match 0/10. If I wanted social commentary I'd be watching an extreme Right Wing or extreme Left Wing youtube video. Social commentary doesn't belong in Footy which should be politically neutral. Sport should bring people together, not rip them apart.

<NBC commentators> have proper English accents. Check.

Almost time for kick off...

Why you might ask. Excellent question!

1-0 Cherries.

First "Water Break" and yet more evidence that the gutless, pandering, virtue-signaling, Nanny-Stating creeps who run the EPL are doing their level best to gut the greatest footy league in the world.

SHAMEFUL.

When <Alexander> led his army against the Persians at the River Granicus he didn't order any "Water Breaks" I can tell you.
