Jan-13-21 | | Paint My Dragon: <Fischer and Chips> Did you ever see the film Brassed Off? One of the early films of Ewen McGregor, but I mainly liked it for the always authentic <Pete Postlethwaite>. Anyway, the Grimethorpe village fish and chip shop was called <In Cod We Trust>. Heh, funny name, and not just a creation of the set design crew. I enjoyed the <U.S. Marines> game. They gave it their all, but the dream was not to be. Completely hilarious though, all that high netting erected to prevent the ball going into people's gardens. That's what happens when you take the hotel concept a little too far. Spurs fans were being encouraged to send the money they would normally spend on an away match visit. Just think, if you and Cibator had done that, they would have been able to buy a fence, or if you normally travel first class, a new striker!! |

Sorry I'm late.
I just finished a marathon manscaping session.
So...what's the topic?
I propose Cadborosaurus.
Talk amongst yourselves. |

Jan-14-21 | | Cibator: <mckmac: Oh, and I'm getting married!> Congrats, <mckmac>!! (But do watch out for that there Covid ... ) |

<Tim> Did you see "Caddie"? I KNEW that was real eh. I "sensed" it... |
|
Jan-14-21 | | Boomie: <Jessasaurus - Lizard Queen> Here is a rare photo of Caddy being marched down Main street. You can't argue with it. It's Science. https://images.glaciermedia.ca/polo... |

<Tim> I never argue with sciencers. As Homer Simpson said, "Batman's a scientist!" |

Jan-15-21 | | Cibator: Is that the dragon that <PMD> is always wanting painted? |
|
Jan-15-21
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Cibator> Very good eye! Yes. Yes, it is. Sadly, <PMD> misunderstood the specifications and painted the whole thing in "black and white." It wasn't the first time he'd made this mistake either. They are still buzzing at the <St. Albin's Lady's Auxiliary Tea room> about <PMD's> paint job on the sets for the <St. Swithins Middle Form Girls in Trouble Dramatic Arts Touring Company> production of "Rainbows, Rainbows, Everywhere." |
|
Jan-15-21 | | Paint My Dragon: Hardly my fault if those dumb kids aren't aware of black and white rainbows. http://cloudmind.info/nature-white-... Besides, they had sold all their tickets to the <Hay-on-Wye School for Colour-Blind Waifs and Strays Drama Appreciation Society>. So who would have known the difference anyway? |
|
Jan-15-21
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<PM black and white stuff> Yes it was their fault for cocking up the sales to the color blind and then demanding color rainbows. |

Interestingly, <Garry Kasparov> attended the <Hay-on-Wye> school, before being apprehended and deported by local authorities. "Isn't this Nigel Short's house!" he exhorted as he was bundled unceremoniously into a van. |

 | | chancho: I did not know that it was Rudy Ghouliani who approached Gazza with a proposal for the Champ to play the championship match with Anand at the Twin Towers in 1995. Did not know that the opening ceremonies were on Sept 10 of 1995 and the first game was played on Sept 11. This all happened six years before a catastrophic event would take place on that same building. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5J... |

Jan-15-21 | | Paint My Dragon: Interestingly, <Garry Kasparov> attended the <Hay-on-Wye> school, before being apprehended and deported by local authorities. A fact that was conveniently left out of his autobiography, so he wouldn't look a complete clot. Congrats. Journalistic sleuthing at its finest. |

<Paint My Dragon> Thank you, but I have to give credit to my employer, VIZ Magazine, who trusted me with their plum fake English school beat. They really know what they're doing. All business meetings are held in the <Goose's Gibbet> down Abbotsway in Fulchester. It's not just journalism and Newcastle Brown Ale either, they do a lot of public service work. The local priests benefited greatly from <Viz's> "Arses on Pews" initiative I can tell you. The idea was simple- yet profound. The most effective method to get arses on pews turned out to be offering strippers and an open bar in the sacistry. Who knew? |
|
Jan-16-21 | | Paint My Dragon: <Fischernet Stockings> Yes, I’m sure you are correct about the <Arses on Pews> initiative. There are very few things that can’t be improved by beer and strippers. In fact, the only thing that cannot be improved by beer and strippers is an evening of <beer and strippers>. How to improve it? This question has puzzled theologians for generations. My sincere compliments to your employer for their publications. I will soon be the proud owner of the latest <VIZ Hardback Annual> if my birthday faeries deliver. I couldn't be more excited ... unless those faeries happen to be strippers carrying beer. Btw - Legend has it that the <Goose’s Gibbet> was originally called the <Goose’s Giblet>, but the sign writer got it wrong ... and in the fullness of time, Fulchester embraced the hanging of Geese as part of their <Gallows Gourmet> Festival. |

<How to improve beer and strippers paradox> 10/10 lololol very good scieinting brah. No, no it was never the <Giblet>, nor did they serve any <gimlets> or other fey concoctions. PLAIN ALE FOR PLAIN MEN. It was called the <Gibbet> because punters were all given "table gibbets" so they could ensure a fresh tea by throttling their own geese. Yes right again, to this day the Fulchester "Gallow Gourmet" festival remains the premier fictional town piss up in the north. |

<PMD: no bollocks playlist> 200/10 playlist brah.
Every selection stellar- my brief top of the top lyrics from it: "The note he left, was signed Old Father Thames, it seems he's drowned..." "A water fall, is madrigal, an inland sea, is symphony..." "There's always been Ethel, Jacob wake up it's time to tidy your room now..." "This is the supper of the mighty one, Lord of Lords, King of Kings, has returned to lead his children home, to take them to the New Jerusalem..." "If you count backwards your eyes, become heavier still..." |
|
Jan-16-21 | | Paint My Dragon: <jessicafrightscene> Good grief … table gibbets – you have the contorted (and slightly disturbing) mind of a horror fan … but you knew that already, eh? Grimly terrifying. I can visualize a grand dining room full of orcs, simultaneously triggering their devices … followed by a cacophony of squealing birds, complete with flapping wings and flinching torsos. Then a raging bout of uncontrollable laughing. When are you writing the rest of the book? I want to read it. Yes, those lyrics are standouts aren’t they? Lifelong fans will read each one and an entire song comes instantly to mind. Not sure many bands have that power. I so desperately wanted to have some ‘Lamb Lies Down ..’ action in the list, but the album is such an indivisible package, and anyway, what could I remove to make space? |
