Don't forget also he has been no friend to communism for a long time. The Commies preferred <Karpov> to <Kasparov>. <Karpov> has gotten a lot mellower too with age. Thing is, <Kasparov> never really denies Bobby's chess achievements- he gives Bobby a lot of space in "My Not Quite as Great as Me Predecessors," which is a really good book with a lot of great photographs in it. All of the Russians knew how good Bobby was. They were scared of him- really scared. You should read "Russians vs. Fischer" to find out how much they feared him. The only well-known Russian writer who still tries to diminish Bobby any chance he gets is <Yuri Averbakh>.
