jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

Aug-15-11  Travis Bickle: Hi Jess this a great early song by The Fab 4 cover on a Smokey Robinson & The Miracles song, (I hope I didn't play it for you already). ; P

jessicafischerqueen: <TBONESTEAKS> good call, and no I hadn't seen that one before.

Isn't it remarkable how good a fit that song is with the Beatles sound?

If you didn't already know the song was a cover, there's no way you could guess.

Aug-15-11  Travis Bickle: I agree and like you I also heard The Beatles in that Who song fab4 sent you earlier. ; P

jessicafischerqueen: Yes I'd go so far as to speculate "The Kids are Alright" might even have been meant as a homage to the Beatles.
Aug-15-11  notyetagm: R Hovhannisyan vs R Robson, 2011

<dangerhump: So where did Robson go wrong? Was it walking his king up the h file with Kh5 instead of using it to cut off the white c pawn?>

Stockfish at chessbomb.com says that the losing move is 34 ... g6-g5.

34 ... g6-g5? better is 34 ... f5-f4

jessicafischerqueen: <Coach> even if 34...f4, I think it's a draw with best play, no?

I was fooling around with this position for a few hours. Did you try to work out any lines from here?

Thanks for posting that. I love Sugar Ray but this new Hieronymous Bosch fellow looks to be rather "live" doesn't he?

Exciting chess.

Eggman: Hello, JFQ. I noticed your comment on the game Fischer vs Spassky, 1966, in which you cited a photograph taken during the game, and I thought you might be interested to know that there is actual film of the game toward the end of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBo8...

jessicafischerqueen: <Wayne> thanks for those fantastic <Fischer> resources!!

Outstanding.

Aug-16-11  Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, here's a great song by Neil Young. Canada's finest!! ; P

Hangin' On A Limb - Neil Young with backing vocal by Linda Ronstadt http://youtu.be/Q3gtE07Th9o

Aug-16-11  Travis Bickle: Jess, have you ever encountered the problem on some downloads on youtube that lag and eventually stop? There's a red ball on the tracking and the song thread is in grey and should move much faster than the red circle. Sometimes lag has occured for me and stops the video. It hasn't happened lately. Is that the improvements you are talking about at youtube?

P.S. Your comment about Emmy Lou singing with Neil Young reminded me that Emmy Lou Harris also sang on most of Bob Dylan's Desire album.

Aug-16-11  Travis Bickle: Jess I have a movie for you if you like drama's. The film is called 'The Door In The Floor' and stars Jeff Bridges & Kim Basinger.
Aug-16-11  Albertan: <jessicafischerqueen: <Wayne> thanks> <for those fantastic <Fischer>> <resources!! Outstanding.>

Your welcome Jessica I am glad you feel that way about them! :)

Whenever you need a chuckle, Gracie Allen delivers. Her extraordinary mangling of the language and juggling of contexts always slays me.

http://www.youtube.com/results?sear...

Aug-16-11  fab4: Hey oooop chuck. Just passing by saying 'ello.
Aug-16-11  Boomie: <JessieJoeWalcott>

Gracie appeared in the wonderful International House of 1933. This was a showcase of Paramount talent. There are some hilarious skits in there and lots of song and dance numbers. Cab Calloway does Reefer Man and a 10 year old Rose Marie sings the blues.

George Burns is the house doctor and Gracie plays the nurse. She answers the phone and says the doctor is out. He going to be out for a very long time. You see, he's out on an eternity case. Vintage Allen punnery.
