That photo is now known to have been a hoax perpetrated by <Roger Patterson>.

It looks like Garbo, but it's in fact Roger's friend <Bob Hieronymous> wearing a Greta Garbo costume.

Take a look at this scandalous nude photo of <Scarlet Johanssen> that almost brought down her career, until it was proven a hoax:

Alexander Alekhine 's life makes for a confusing and at times conflicting narrative in places, which kind of pre-empts a minor criticism I have of your doco about him that I don't get the same sense of narrative as I found in your other docos.

The main thing I missed about your doco about Alekhine was the absence of games that are included with every other player you document.

Anyway, take a squiz at his revised bio and and let me know how, in your opinion, it should be shortened, if at all. This is by far the most difficult bio I've put together, and found it really really hard to shorten it even to the current ridiculous length as his whole life was just so damned interesting.

I'm sure others may disagree though, but it's still an improvement on the short and somewhat piecemeal bio that preceded it.

PS: could you provide a url for the Alekhine playlist as I only have a link to the first episode in the bio, relying on youtube to provide succeeding episodes in nearby panes.

LIFE Master AJ: <Aug-18-11 <jessicafischerqueen: <LOL! <You are becoming the checkmate with your king king. <AJ> QUESTION: is the game page computer here stronger or weaker than <"little chess partner"?

<Can you set any time control you want on the game page computer you've been playing?>>>>>>>

Go to the playing zone. (Chessgames Playing Zone)

Click on the button. (To enter the playing zone.)

The computer is almost always available. Click on the "PLAY" button.

You get a "pop-up" with many time choices. (3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 60 or 90 minute.) I have no idea of "Lil Partner"'s chess strength, have not used it much. (Sorry. I use mostly Fritz 12, Houdini, or Rybka3 engines. I don't bother with the engine here, I always use Chessbase 10 ... and whatever engine I want, I have almost every engine known to man.)

Aug-18-11  ProjectR: <boomie> and <chancho>..

Sorry,i didn't mean either of you when i referred to "the loon" on the bobby fischer page obviously lol

But there is a guy currently posting on there(il not name him, though its not hard to figure out if you've visited the page recently !) And you know you sometimes come across people in life and no matter what they say you just think...EH ?? *brain working overtime trying to understand them just so you can be pleasant*...well lets just say he's one of them guys lol.. <jessicafischerqueen> your obviously a lot more knowledgable on chess history than myself, but do you know of any top GM of the past who had children who also achieved a GM status? Id be interested to know if you did All the best to all

  jessicafischerqueen: <PR>

<BOOMIE and chancho> are fine loons, I'm sure they wouldn't take offense. Many think they are actually the same person!

Well OK nobody thinks that, but it would be fun if they did.

I also do not know of a single child of a famous Grandmaster who followed in their parent's footprints.

This is a little strange eh? Many famous athletes have sons/daughters who also became famous in the sport.

But not chess players?

Can anyone else think of a Master offspring who also became a Master?

Maybe chess mastery can't be inherited?

Seems a little strange.

<PS>

<PR> Sometimes there's not much payoff in trying to understand every loon. I like to "pick my loons" when I need to expend any effort to understand them.

I call these the "Golden Loons."

<hms123> and <dakgootje>, for example, are "Golden Loons."

Sometimes I have no idea what they're on about, but it's always been worth the effort to find out.

Something to do with "maths," I believe.

Aug-18-11  ProjectR: <jessicafischerqueen> hahaha Okay im on constant "loon" watch from now on
Do they all gravitate to your forum,as i think im in good company if so ;-)

Ps..do you mind if i call you jess or jfq ? You can call me <Pro> if i can lol

jessicafischerqueen: Ya ya <Jess> <JFQ> is fine.

<Pro> is good, but I'm so lazy I may have trouble typing the extra letter after <PR>.

Aug-18-11  Gregor Samsa Mendel: <JFQ>--I believe that Nimzovitch and Smyslov had fathers who were of master strength.

It will be interesting to see how any Polgar children turn out, with regards to chess playing ability.

Aug-18-11  ProjectR: Okay then.. <jossy> it is from this day forth lol (please excuse all the "lols" but its a hard habit to drop when your a serial texter!)

Wow..i really am at home with the "loons"at your forum, thanks for making me feel welcome <jossy> LOL

I'll trade you <Pro> for no <jossy>.

<Pro> it is then!

Aug-18-11  fab4: Just passing thru again. Must be something which compels this passing thru.. Could be your cool forum.

I listened to the Gabriel link on YT.. I need to listen to it again I think. Which is fine. I like music which does'nt hit me instantaneously..

And I respect Gabriel very much ..

Hope you are well.

Oh and pleeeez.. avert your eyes from the Fischer pages ! lol .. it's all a laff ect ... ( Well I hope so ! )

Aug-18-11  Kolyas: <I also do not know of a single child of a famous Grandmaster who followed in their parent's footprints.>

What about GM Milan Vidmar and his son IM Milan Vidmar, Jr.?

Wasn't Akiva Rubinstein's son Samy of master strength?

And, what about Cecil Purdy and his son?

GM Evgeny Sveshnikov and IM son Vladmir.

IM Gorn Vojinovic and daughter WGM Jovena.

GM Wolfgang Unzicker and son Ferdinand (2300 ELO).

GM Wolfgand Heidenfeld and IM son Mark.

GM Thomas Paehtz and daughter IM/WGM Elisabeth.

US Masters Andrew and Erik Karklins. (But not a GM).

And the reverse, GM Magnus Carlsen and father Henrik?

Aug-18-11  twinlark: <Jess> Thanks for your thoughts and your kind words. I think you're being hard on some of your work, but I guess that being our own harshest critic can help us better our efforts. Just don't be too hard on yourself.
Aug-18-11  fab4: Hey Jess .. The Penguin is 'ignoring' me..

ALL the numpties on this site put me on 'ignore' .. I know you will disagree ! lol

But.. Keene 'ignoring' me lol .. I can't stand him . How has he twigged ? !

Aug-18-11  fab4: <Kolyas>

He used the word 'famous' . lol
