If you are willing to be a forum assistant, I believe <dalbertz>, <mckmck> and <Dionyseus> do not have an assistant. The work would be as agreed between you and the forum host but would probably consist of copying posts to forums and / or generating engine analysis. If you are so inclined, just report for work at one of those forums (or more than one if you want). |

Nov-02-08 | | sentriclecub: Hey boss,
I had an idea which I think would benefit the team and take some of the burden off your shoulders. If GMAN ever plays a surprise move that we had no way of anticipating, then forums should be assigned to each move that has 10 votes. I have noticed that within an hour usually, 50 or so people have voted. What about the risk of having chaos for one hour and no forums? Well if anyone has the arrogance to believe that they have "solved" GMAN's stunning brilliancy in less than 60 minutes, which a CCGM worked on for several days, then let them post on kibitzers cafe because no one on the team would believe that person anyway. And what about computer analysis? Sure tell everyone that good quality analysis takes longer than an hour anyway. So if you only prepare forums for the 5 most popular GMAN moves, then the worst that can happen is we are without forums for one hour. Also, if you click here ChessBookie Game (or this link alternatively Arno Nickel vs The World: 16.?) you can already infer based on how many people vote "other". If "other" has less than 5% of the total bets, then its safe to say there are no candidate moves "missing". I brainstormed for an hour thinking of ways for you to be more efficient since I feel bad if anything I've said could be interpreted as under-appreciation for your service & loyalty to the team. |

Well, if you spend an hour thinking about me, I'm surely glad you're trying to think of ways to help me :) I have never participated in the ChessBookie and never considered it as a possible source of information. Thanks for pointing that out. I was never a Boy Scout, but I definitely have a "be prepared" way of looking at things. I would rather exert extra effort on every move and have the extra measure of confidence that I have a forum plan in place for anything plausible. There have been a few times in the last two games where my extra preparation paid off. I really don't want to ever have to post to the team after an opponent's move that I don't have a forum list ready. I will never be 100% certain but I can get close. One problem I have is that I'm at work 5/7 of the time when the opponent moves, and I do not have an engine on my work PC. Also, the move comes at the end of the lunch hour and I should be back to work at that time. In short, I will be in a very poor position to come up with a forum list if I don't have one ready. If it ever happens, I will have to improvise something. Maybe today - what do you think? |

 | | Open Defence: thanks for the support all, I dont mind if anyone does not agree with my analysis or busts it, but I hate people questioning my motives as a person did in the GMAN game,
first and foremost I like playing chess with my friends if it does not feel friendly then I have better things to do than soak up negativity I think a line is crossed when one team mate questions another's motives, then we cease to be de facto team mates if any one wants to copy the analysis into another forum please let me know |
|
Nov-14-08 | | sentriclecub: Stopping by again.
Will there be any changes to how things are run? (once the GMUMAN game starts) Also I'm curious about potential problems once our team runs two games. Have you given them any thought? or am I just a worrywart? |

Nov-14-08
 | | kutztown46: <sentriclecub>
A few of us have been giving it considerable thought. Stay tuned. BTW, I made a post at your forum last week. |
|
Nov-14-08 | | sentriclecub: Thanks, I never saw it! My forum is like a deserted toxic wasteland. Yes, I'll start doing that. I view the tree a lot, since only a select group of analysts use it, and I trust them the most about the position. So I guess I'll copy some lines from other analysts who I think are always accurate, onto the data-tree. |

Nov-14-08 | | Red October: <kutztown46> I hate to be a quitter, especially when we might be in for rough weather in this game, so what I will do is post my analysis in the relevant forums and copy stuff from the main page into my forum (if it is used), but I will avoid interactions on the main page sadly ignoring a user is not the solutions since their lines do need to be looked into, the ideas are interesting, if they only worked with me perhaps we could have had a good line at the end of it but thats in the past this is something out of our control so I have decided to avoid any interaction on the main page |

Thanks for the post. It's good to hear from you. I am not 100% sure I understand your intention - are you willing to continue as a forum host(ess)? I am not trying to pressure you; I just want to understand. I can keep you out of the rotation for a few turns if you wish. Being a forum host does not require you to interact on the main page, as I'm sure you understand. |
