Some years ago I came up with a new but simple system to calculate the final standings of a tournament including all players. This is how it goes:
For each correct standing you'll get a maximum amount of points. Each prediction deviation from the actual player standing in the tournament, will deduct one point from your total (ABSOLUTE RANKER).
In case of a shared player's standing the average standing counts (both actual and in your predictions).
The SQUARE RANKER, squares your predictions' deviations. Here only medals are awarded if the winner s is not the same person s as in the absolute ranker.
Same goes for the The PAIR BETTING RANKER compare all possible pair outcomes of the tournament participants.
The three best predictions will get Real Virtual Gold Silver and Bronze!
Note: only one set of medals is awarded (in the absolute ranker) unless another ranker produces a different winner.

Jun-10-14		lostemperor: What I meant to say is that "Sea man" Agdestein has not played a super tournament since the early 90s last century! He was a prodigy, who started playing soccer also. Remarkable for a 2625 rated player to succesfully play with the big boys of today!

Jun-12-14		lostemperor: Soccer player Agdestein has "woken up" and lost his first game in his first super tournament in 20 years. Nevertheless it is a surprising good tournament of him . Chapeau! Also for <Penguincw> who somehow saw that coming (and who knows what his game vs Carlsen may bring :)).

Jun-12-14		OhioChessFan: <Penguin> yeah, I went from leading in one round to near the bottom. Most rounds you can figure out one game that will really help/hurt you. Agdestein's loss killed you.

It was daringly insane since Agdestein has only a rating of 2630 among close to 2800 players and finally unachievable though he managed succesfully just that till close to the end round 7! :-)
