"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

Dec-03-23  virginmind: Good evening, dear <moronovich>, looks like snow is coming this way too, well, it's winter after all. Thank you, indeed, no dizziness to speak of, after such a strange time some months ago. Of course I'm going to watch that handball game, and root for you, sorry, for me ;) - ok, I'll try for both :) It appears in Germany we will not meet in football though, at least not in the groups phase. And now some chess to follow.

Hugs for Hannah and you and have an excellent week ahead.

  moronovich: Thanks my dear <virgingmind>.

So good to hear your dizziness hasn´t come back !. Please continue this way.

Snow has started to melt ):, but tonight we shall see some battle, where I have money on Romania and as such, thums up for both teams !

All the best, and see you up the road.

HOKA HEY.

Dec-05-23  virginmind: By the end of first half, 21-10 for Denmark...this doesn't look good.

  moronovich: Sorry <virginmind>

The danes were stronger than I thought and the romanian atack were lacking quality int he first half, sooo..But I know you can do better, and still early days.

Next stop Japan, on thursday.

And a surprisingly calm evening at the couch for Hannah and I.

Good night and the best wishes from DK.

Dec-06-23  virginmind: Yup, Danes were good and Romanians weak, never mind we're gonna take revenge. Have a great week you both!

  moronovich: Morning, Sir !

Thanks, and the same to you !

Life is still young.

Dec-09-23  virginmind: Hi my dear, now that the Germans also beat us, let's see what the Japanese are up to. I hope they will behave and let us win, then we will just need to win against the Poles and we're in the quarters. Easier said than done, as the Japanese are known for their will to win no matter what battle. Joking aside, with our best player still not in the team, chances are only 49.96%...But Hoka Hey!

  moronovich: Hoka Hey !

I would estimate the chances to 49,95.Otherwise we are in agreement ;) I think you have a good and fair chance against the japanese and after we have (hopefully) beaten the poles, they dont have much to play for, and as such should be easier to beat.

Quite a night we have ahead of us and I hope you and Maria will enjoy it as much as possible. Here Hannah and I are having a cosy time.

Hugs!

moronovich: And now 32-28 !! A huge congrats !! Great result for you. Unfortunately we overlooked the match and believed it was played later.
Dec-10-23  virginmind: Thanks but I didn't see it either, due to some procrastinated job related work. It turns out though that, even if we do beat the Poles, we will only get to the quarters if Denmark doesn't win the remaining two matches...Now what do you think chances are for this to happen? I'd say no more than 29...sorry, 19.81%

Hugs for you both.

Later edit: you did beat Poland 32-22 (bravo!), and now we're mathematicaly out. Well, good luck in the remaining games of the world championship - hopefully you'll even win it!

  moronovich: Morning my dear <virginmind > !

So the time has come to buy our christmas tree.Funny to be a buyer, as I have sold many of them during the years !

The time has also come to meet the scary good norwegains tonight at 17.30. It, either way, gonna be a tought time here in the couch and in the chair ;)

Wish you all the best for upcoming weekend and for your (last?) Christmas preparations

Many hugs to you and to Maria !

Dec-15-23  virginmind: Hi my dear <moronovich>, thank you, and good luck tonight against the Norwegians! I've followed yesterday a bit your match against Montenegro, and congratulations for that victory! I'll most probably watch the 17:30 contest today and keep fingers crossed for your team. Chess victories are back again for me, quite a few in a row. Hugs, and I hope you'll buy a fitted Christmas tree. We will buy ours a bit later.
Dec-15-23  virginmind: I only saw the second half (plus additional time) but what a dramatic turn of events. And what a thrilling match! I am so sorry for the Danes that they lost toward the end, after leading the score for all the time...Hugs and have a fine weekend anyway.

moronovich: Thank you for your kind words of consolation dear <virginmind> !

That was an extremely tough match yesterday ,with no dull moment. The ladies gave everything they had, but with the slightest og margin the norwegians came out on top ):

Thi was the most nervewracking sports contest I/We have seen for many years and finally I even had tears in my eyes...

But today is another fine day and we are enjoying the christmas time and send both of you the best wishes for today and the weekend ahead of you.

All the best and hugs to both of you !

  moronovich: Morning, my dear !

Very nice to take the bronzemedals yesterday.

The girls really deserved it and we have enjoyed the tournament immensely, especially as it takes place during this dark december.

And great to hear about your progress and succes in chess ! I am delighted on your behalf.

Is dizziness stil absent ?

It is 7.17 in the morning and Hannah is off to work now. I am already looking forward to see her again ! ;)

All the best and hugs !

Dec-19-23  virginmind: Hi <moronovich>, bravo for the bronze medal! Dizziness made a half day appearence 2 days ago, but all is well ever since. Also after finishing the job requirements today I feel more in winter holidays, so can start looking for a Christmas tree :) Hugs for you both and take care. I wish you a nice December, full of joy and comfort.

  moronovich: Morning my friend !

Just briefly as Hannah and I have been hit with a stomach issue and so the christmas wasn´t really there ):

But I wish you a Merry Christmas in Iasi with Maria and send you all the best wishes for the New Year to come.

Hugs and Hoka Heys.

Dec-26-23  virginmind: Hi my friend, we've been to Onesti for a day, then returned last night. Thank you for the Christmas wishes and kindly wish you and Hannah a Merry Christmas. But I'm sorry you've had that stomach issue, I do hope you're going to get it healed soon. All my and Maria's greetings for the New year for you both, with health and a great time! Hugs.

moronovich: Thank you so much my dear <virginmind> !

Things are much better now and we are looking forward to the New Year, where we send you and Maria all the best wishes, as well as I thank you for our many exchanges in 2023 which I really enjoy !

May 2024 be a good year for us and the world.

And tomorrow I´ll for the fifth day in a row, enjoy the transmissoin from Samarkand in norwegian televison and feeling completely spoiled ;)

Many hugs.

Dec-30-23  virginmind: Thank you my dear, and thank you again and all the best for you and Hannah. Indeed, I've been watching a bit in Samarkand, today it's the last day of blitz and eager to see the results. Carlsen managed again to get the title in rapid, bravo! As of me I started to lose, I play and I'm having a good position, I'm being pretty confident that I have an advantage and even about to win...only that I lose the game. I've lost about 5-6 of the last 7 games I played, not a good sign at all. I maintain about the same level of concentration during the games as I used to, and still I make mistakes. I need to check and find the causes.

Many hugs from us.

Dec-30-23  virginmind: And now he won the blitz section too! I tell you, this Norwegian guy is up to something...;)
Dec-31-23  virginmind: I forgot to tell you that the Christmas tree we got this year is from Denmark :)

moronovich: Wow, a danish christmas tree ! What could go wrong with that ? ;)

We are enjoying ourselves right now and awating a quiet evening with some fine seafood and icecram to come. Simultaniously we will send you and Maria all the best wishes for tonight and for the new year to come !

And good "old" Magnus did it again and I suppose he may be delighted, also because he doesn´t hold the classic title.

Hereby I send you many hugs !

And how about your own chess currently ?

Jan-02-24  virginmind: Nothing wrong with a Danish tree, indeed, it's still standing strong. It's been pleasant mostly, warmer than usual, but after a week harsh winter will come upon us. My chess level is low as expected, but I do beat on some weaker opponents. I don't plan to learn any openings, no more than 7-8 moves. But I don't feel like trying Fischer random chess either, for now. I hope you're and you will be fine.

  moronovich: Good evening dear <virginmind>

Hope you have entered the new year in a pleasant way! Here we are having some cosy days, since a heavy snow storm has prevented Hannah from working at the university, but having her laptop here, she can work from home ! Not so bad. And Tata still coming up, were it gonna be interesting to see, if Ding Liren still remember the moves ;)

I understand if you dont want to learn new openings... Otherwise tactics, tactics and tactics is always good for improving, but I am shure you alreday know ;) Life is short, so : Hoka Hey and many hugs to you guys in Iasi !
