"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

Jul-26-12  achieve: <Moro> I've been looking around for a type cooler that fits your description and prizing, but one company that was able to answer me by phone said "Sorry sir, not this year"

What??!!

You're right though to call it a (air) cooler, not airconditioner, as those are all 200-300 euros. Minimum.

Of course there is the online market place, but it would be of a help if you could give the name of the manufacturer, of your cooler.

But your type or model cooler surely must be available here as well, one would assume.

But I manage reasonably well with ventilators, if it isn't too hot and humid.

Jul-26-12  achieve: <moro> Rofl, only one stick is good! Please do not hurt yourself... Thanks for looking that up, we have ALDI as well here, must have been a dump sale, great catch if you can get what you need, especially if it still works after 2 years.

I'm going after the QUIGG, indeed see what hits come up.

Best chance indeed probably with the big price-fighter supermarkets that sell anything that is in demand.

Thanks!

moronovich: Hey <rogge> Good to see you drop by and I am absolutely not jealous about you lucky son of a guitar who had the pleasure to watch the Boss. And did he really improve his 2009 perfromance ?...Waw..Perhaps there were something in the air from the 22th !?... Your personel set list is easy to go with and it could be close to yours truly´s ! If in a jail for a week and only were to pick one it would be "Badlands" which seems to sound better and better as the years go by :)And of course you were not wet...;)

Thanks for the links, I will take a listen later.

moronovich: Oh <rogge> one more thing : Congratulations with your nurse ! And wife.

That is what in old danish is called a win-win situation :)

Jul-26-12  rogge: Win-win indeed! Now let's see what Magnus can do :)
Jul-26-12

moronovich: <Now let's see what Magnus can do :)>

Right and it seems he is the only one who can win in the Bacrotgame. And perhaps his actually position is a tad better better than Houdinis-o.37. After 37.Rc5.And sublime timemanagement too.

I think Magnus will loose no game in Biel and win it all.But we shall see.

Jul-26-12  rogge: Yup, don't think he'll lose either, but if Wang keeps winning... :)

Anyways, my bike needs some exercise now, See you!

Jul-26-12  achieve: <chess> Giri successfully self-destroyed, if I may call a sub 1900 opening treatment that, but surely, Magnus is the most stable, and his all court game is pretty strong.

Håb for ungdommen <rogge> :) And enjoy the ride.

moronovich: Agreed <achieve> giris opening looked suspiciuos, but OTOH these KID´s are not for kids :)And the difference between playing them brilliantly and looking like an idiot is a thin line.

But I didn´t go deep into the game.

Jul-26-12  achieve: And I like Wang Hao personally following his ICC blitz games 6 years ago / he was quite the ticket, and saw him live once at the Youyth experience T in amsterdam. He is just a great guy, humble, and very talented. Good thing he takes advantage of Giri´s mental weaknesses, surfacing in this particular round for some reason.

Learning curve as they say...

Jul-27-12  achieve: Morning, <moro>!

Feeling a bit better today?

If you're upto it, I was thinking maybe we can watch and comment some, here, on the Carlsen Giri game today, as the CG live game will be of the deserved leader Hao, but the dutch norwegian clash of course has our attention ;)

I'm home most part of the afternoon, and if Branko is online/awake he can join us, hopefully...

  moronovich: Morning <achieve> !

I am basically feeling fine today and almost as rested as can be,also thanks to the cooler.

I will try to fit in at the gametransmission which I find is a good idea, but we also have a guest and not shure about my stayingpower, I will not promise to much.

And you ? How are you doing today and about the cooler/sleep !?

I will take my first walk (200M!!)with
my exellent supportperson who happens to be my wife too :)

See you soon !

Jul-27-12  achieve: Good to hear! - I slept better last night, but couldn't find the correct ~50 euro type cooler, but I manage "OK" with the ventilators, really.

<200M!!> Indeed! - Usain 'Moronovich' Bolt in action this afternoon!

If you have a guest than priorities are simple ;)

We'll see, I'll check here periodically, perhaps posting at the Biel page, and some here, it's all good.

Enjoy your afternoon!

Jul-27-12  achieve: Meanwhile, Carlsen opened 1. e4 - and Giri responded expectedly with the Petroff defence, his pet response to e4 these days.

Looks balanced and very orderly so far.

  moronovich: Hi again !

Back for a while and glad to hear you caught some sleep.. And I proudly present that the 200 m´s walk was a succes without any minusses!

Interesting way Giri handles the Petroff and a lead in time to boot. Very difficult to see white win this..

Bacrot playing the KID against Nakamura !?!? could go either way IMO.

See you.

moronovich: After 21.dxc6 I take my former statement back in the Nakagame which now looks like a onesided affair.I dont see black has enough counterplay on the kingside.
Jul-27-12  achieve: Superb news on the 200 dash...

I'd like to play the Black side if I HAD to choose... Carlsen has an isolated pawn and I preferred most of the time to work with connected pawns.

Looks indeed hard to win, it's dynamically equal, but that is why they play, to "obtain" an advantage, no matter how small, and with Carlsen we all know where that can lead to! :)

But really there is a lot of play left, especially with these young guys, 18 and 21...

I've not yet looked at the other games.

moronovich: Yes,the field of isolated pawns is a minefield in some regards.. They can (connected with the whole picture) be of immense power. But the commitment they demand may be the mainreason why I usually avoided them.

In DK there has for a couple of decades been a kind of misunderstanding of B.Larsen who said he didn´t like to play the isolated pawns side which then was taken by the topplayers as he thougt the isolated pawn was weak.Which was not what he meant and said.
