| Nov-12-13 | | achieve: And another Fianchetto as White for MC.
I got a feeling this one will last a little longer. No guarantees though. Many early Queen moves by Carlsen. |
|
Nov-12-13
 | | moronovich: Mornig <achieve> !
Yeah another fianchetto.Often a gift from Caissa when one is in for a long game. And it certainly looks like Magnus is today. So let us hope for a real fight this time... |
|
Nov-12-13
 | | moronovich: -Nd4?! could be an inacurance.NxN may give white too much play on the queenside ..
Seems strange to me. |
|
| Nov-12-13 | | achieve: Just got back from a few errands (1250), White looks a bit better, but Trent & Sacha seem to have different opinions. HEALTHY MARIAGGE!!! |
|
Nov-12-13
 | | moronovich: Yeah, they are a nice couple. And always good to see the "opposite" sexes
work together !Opposite bishops do also occur here in some variations.A scenario Anand should avoid.
I see the position as equal, but practically I would prefer Magnus´too. said after -Kh7 |
|
Nov-12-13
 | | moronovich: Huge tension : will they(Anand) take the repetion or play on ????... Crucial moment in the match. |
|
Nov-12-13
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: No forced repetition for Anand to take, as 23...Be6 24. Qf3 Bd5 25. e4 was quite playable for White :) |
|
Nov-12-13
 | | moronovich: Hi <Switch> !
You are on to something, but I would prëfer Black after 25-dxe e.p.Opens for the BB and makes d3 weaker. |
|
Nov-12-13
 | | moronovich: I´ll go for a short walk.Need some fresh air,before the final.May be a long game. |
|
| Nov-12-13 | | achieve: Just got back from running some errands (12.35) so need to get back in the action -- I must say White looks good to me, indeed on the queenside. Finally we are playing a full game, it appears. |
|
| Nov-13-13 | | virginmind: Things are heating up a bit, we'll see what they're up to in the 4th game. I still think tough that they'll keep playing cautious. Stakes are the highest possible and with so few games left, one wrong step and it's over. 'Thou must not lose!' appears to be their commandment for the remaining 9 games. They'll probably take their chances (given the public and sponsors' expectations) in a few games, but not by much. |
|
Nov-13-13
 | | moronovich: Good morning <virginmind> ! Things are heating up and cautiousness is the daily order as you well said. After Rd2-c5.Rad1-Be6 We may have a long game with mutual chances.
Not an obviuos choice from team Vishy
IMHO. |
|
| Nov-14-13 | | virginmind: Hi <moronovich> and wow, yesterday we had a real battle in Chennai, no more complainings :)
Let's hope they'll keep the pace, at least for a few more games full of tension (a couple of innevitable short draws are of course still possible).
Anand has shown he is not gonna let it go easy. |
|
| Nov-15-13 | | achieve: <Morning Moro, guest> One third of the Match has already been completed, approaching the halfway stage now with Carlsen as White in game 5, after which Anand will have two whites in a row, and he'll be aiming to get his nose in front with at least one win. So Carlsen may want to step to the plate with a powerful attitude, showing Anand and the whole chess world "what he's got as White" -- these quiet Fianchettoes are not really cutting it sofar, especially as Anand himself is such a great positional player, and can manoever like the best of them. Pivotal three games coming up, will probably determine the outcome to a high degree, after which the sprint for the Finish will commence, with the nerves increasing as each game passes! My feeling is Carlsen needs to get out his tomahawk <now> and go after Vishy with an agressive attitude and opening treatment/prep. Timing is of the essence here, in game 5, I believe. |
|
Nov-15-13
 | | moronovich: Good morning <achieve> ! Hope and guess you are ready for the game today.I always like your coments and analysis and guess you are spot on about these doublefianchettos.Perhaps
1st game was a mix of smokescreen and playing it safe to get adjusted to the whole atmosphere, hype, etc. !? But I have no firm idea what he should play instead..1.e4 is inviting the spanish where Anand has a tremendous score and the sicilian may also awake the old tiger :)and is not the most obviuos hometurf for Magnus...1.d4 invites the gruenfeld which is maybe not Carlsens cup of tea...Queens gambit
could be the answer, but it takes blacks cooperation to get there :)
So perhaps 1.c4-e5 for today !? which
could satisfie both players wish(y).
Anyway I am really looking forward to this game close to the second half. A little less than 2 hours to go.I am well rested and will now go for a walk
before the sitzfleisch sets in ;)
And how are you doing today and/or in general !? (Sorry for not asking the other day.I was so occupied by the match.) See you up the road .And a hug to Jimmie as well. |

 | | moronovich: <virginmind: Hi <moronovich> and wow, yesterday we had a real battle in Chennai, no more complainings :) Let's hope they'll keep the pace, at least for a few more games full of tension (a couple of innevitable short draws are of course still possible). Anand has shown he is not gonna let it go easy.> Morning <virginmind> ! I guess they will keep the pace and though I cheer for Magnus it is good to
see the old man taking part in the final outcome. Before I had Magnus as 80
%,but now about 65-70%.What a tremendous defence by Anand in the fourth game.
Hope you will find the time for todays clash ! |
|
| Nov-15-13 | | achieve: Yep, Moro - and thanks for the kind words as always - and I think this one is a pivotal "Carlsen White", and he has invested more than enough time and money to really take it to Anand in one of the openings you mention, or a radical new one, homecooked. You can't keep waiting, provided team MC <does> have something big prepared. Not so easy though, Anand is a monster in the field, experieced in all systems. But two Anand whites to follow puts the onus squarely on the 5th for Magnus, is my feeling. There is an interview with GK on chessvibes, from after the 4th game, one to watch!!! |
|
| Nov-15-13 | | achieve: Does this look like a Q-gambit/NimzoIndian hybrid?
Looks like we are getting very interesting play, even though these structures ought to be very well known. |
|
Nov-15-13
 | | moronovich: <Does this look like a Q-gambit/NimzoIndian hybrid? > Yes,and I could imagine Anand is trying to come back to his wellknown nimzolines.Anyway we seem to be up to an interesting game. |
|
| Nov-15-13 | | achieve: Anand indeed looks comfortable; Back in half an hour.... |
|
Nov-15-13
 | | moronovich: <Anand indeed looks comfortable; Back in half an hour....> A touch of the crystal ball in action !?..;)
Carlsen just played 0-0-0,may be not correct IMO .Interesting and noteworthy how they praise whites play on the otherwise brillian norwegian television. An absolute keymoment in the match. |
|
| Nov-15-13 | | achieve: Incredible! The structure became so different from what I expected! What's Moro's verdict?
I have just landed back behind the screen... |
|
Nov-15-13
 | | moronovich: Slight pressure from Magnus and a Draw as the most likely result. After Ne4.
I feel the power of the 2 B´s should balance Whites better developed pieces. But White is Magnus;..
Most likely a long game, perhaps simular to yesterdays.I would personally prefer white If I had to stay at the board. If you could explain -Bc7 to me,then I will owe you a drink, someday ! |
|
Nov-15-13
 | | moronovich: <simular to yesterdays.> Time flies :) |
|
Nov-15-13
 | | moronovich: All in all we may now have revealed the strategy of Magnus(not secret):Long games with queens of.
Just to state it briefly. |
