 | | WannaBe: I'll bet you they are round and fuzzy... Probably coloured neon green. |
| Jul-18-14 | | Jim Bartle: If there weren't a moratorium declared on other sports, I could post this video of the 1988 Oklahoma State-Nebraska game so we could see the incredible speed, strength and agility of Barry Sanders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qof... Too bad OSU didn't have a defense.
The only negative thing is Sander's absurd antics while celebrating touchdowns. Look at the arrogance with which he tosses the ball to the referee after scoring. |

 | | Phony Benoni: <JB>, please remember that this is a sports forum. The only five-syllable word allowed is "refrigerator". And Barry Sanders is always in season. |
| Jul-18-14 | | Jim Bartle: Look at a little of the video, though. Ignore that Nebraska waltzes to TDs every time they have the ball. Sanders is just incredible, so quick and so strong. |

 | | WannaBe: Moratorium, is that where Jim Mora speaks in an auditorium?? Play-offs!??! |

 | | Phony Benoni: Okay, <JB> you sucked me in. I watched the game, and before halftime was scouring Wikipedia to find out who the heck Ken Clark was. <Travis> Isn't it remarkable how calm and cooperative coaches are in the off-season? |
| Jul-19-14 | | Travis Bickle: Oh yeah Phony they answer all the questions & are polite too. ; P |
| Jul-19-14 | | Jim Bartle: I can't say exactly why, but this Derek Jeter farewell tour irritates me somehow. It seems artificial, not natural. I liked the Rivera tour, it seemed more real. But really, shouldn't the ceremonies be limited to the American League teams? He played in those cities for twenty years, many games each year. But he's barely played against the National League. Where's the connection there? |
Jul-19-14
 | | OhioChessFan: <JB> me too on the irritating issue. I don't get the National League teams either. |

 | | perfidious: Sanders left football far too soon. The man could play a little. |
| Jul-20-14 | | Travis Bickle: The thing I never could understand about Sanders is why they didn't use him in goal line packages?? With his quickness & elusiveness he would have been very hard to stop! Marcus Allen made a living at the goal line... |

 | | Phony Benoni: Travis, to score in goal line situations you need good blocking or a running back that can create his own holes in close quarters.. The Lions never had that kind of blocking, and Sanders wasn't that kind of runner. More important was Sanders' tendency to get tackled behind the line of scrimmage. Normally, it's worth risking a few minuses here and there when you have a chance to go 20 or 30, but in goal line situations it's an unnecessary risk. Finally, don't forget. Lions' coaches were Matt Millen before being Matt Millen was cool. |
| Jul-20-14 | | Jim Bartle: Right. You need a power back at the goal line, not a elusive back. For example, when Reggie Bush was at USC he often didn't play in goal line situations. They put in the big power back instead. I read once that Sanders held the record for most yards lost by a back ever in the NFL. Strategically his runs were more like the passing game: boom or bust. |

 | | WannaBe: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b... To that, I say:
1. It was in the 5th, how often have you seen a game (especially AL) where team puts up 4 or 5 runs on ya? 2-0 lead ain't sheet. 2. You put on the shift, and my job is to hit <INTO> the shift? So <YOU> look brilliant? I don't think so... 3. Shut up and pitch. |
| Jul-20-14 | | Jim Bartle: I agree entirely. Put on the shift, the guy has a right to hit 'èm where they ain't. Say the guy had hit a single through the shift. Would that have been considered good? Of course. |
Jul-20-14
 | | Phony Benoni: Sounds a bit like Lewis is reworking the old argument that Ichiro hurt the Mariners by settling for singles instead of hitting with more power. |

http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/stor... Yeah Elvis I know what ya mean... Somebody needs to take a long walk on a short pier! The article states - "The fake mascot -- not to be confused with the team's new official mascot, "Clark the Cub" -- wears a Cubs hat and No. 78 jersey that has the name "Billy Cub" on the back. The team says the defendants are trying to pass their character off as an official representative of the team, and it accuses them of trademark infringement, injuring the team's reputation and unfair competition". An organization that hasn't won anything since Abraham Lincoln was President has no right to be talking about injuring the teams reputation & unfair competition! LOL! When other major league teams play the Cubs it's unfair competition... |
