 | | perfidious: <WannaBe: Weird, it's Friday and CLE/TOR is playing a day game...> Nothing strange about that--it is Canada Day. |
|
Jul-01-16
 | | WannaBe: <perfidious> Can't be, my iCalendar does not say that. =)) |
|
Jul-01-16
 | | WannaBe: Annnnnnnnd they're going to the 16th inning. Nothing like bonus baseball. |
|
Jul-01-16
 | | WannaBe: Top of 18th, officially a double-header!! Cleveland have inserted T. Bauer (starter), while Toronto countered with Goins, their second baseman. |
|
Jul-01-16
 | | WannaBe: 19 innings, whatamarathonofagame!!! |
|
Jul-01-16
 | | Phony Benoni: The next pitcher for the Indians would have been Huxley Fred. |
|
Jul-01-16
 | | Penguincw: Grr, Jays fall to 3-1 in 18+ inning games.
Interesting game, nice to see Goins and Barney pitch. Jays could've brought out tomorrow's starter, ace Marco Estrada, but they didn't (it's fine, they'll have him for tomorrow). Perhaps Corey Kluber (Sunday's probable) will pitch tomorrow. Congrats to the Indians, who haven't loss a game since the Cavaliers won the NBA Championship. Not going to rant on how bad home plate umpire Vic Carapazza was... |

Jul-01-16
 | | perfidious: <PB: The next pitcher for the Indians would have been Huxley Fred.> Long as it wasn't going to be Huxley Aldous. |
|
Jul-01-16
 | | WannaBe: CIN/WAS going extra innings, will they go 19, or 20??? |
|
Jul-02-16
 | | Phony Benoni: Tigers' rookie pitcher Michael Fulmer probably won't get any All Start consideration, but he's got some streak going. Over his last eight starts, totaling 53.3 innings, he has gone 7-0 while allowing 3 (!) runs and 23 hits, walking 16 and striking out 48. That's an ERA of 0.43, just 4.03 hits per nine innings, and a WHIP of 0.76. You have to guard against making too much of rookie phenoms, and they do have him on a short leash -- but those are still some numbers. |
|
| Jul-02-16 | | Jim Bartle: Does he talk to the ball? |
|
Jul-02-16
 | | Phony Benoni: No. That would make him a sure-fire pitch. But it sure seems to listen to him. http://m.tigers.mlb.com/news/articl... OK, it's only Tampa Bay. But you get the idea. Workmanlike and under control. |

 | | Penguincw: Wow, CLE-TOR one hell of a game. Rajai Davis, a former Blue Jay, hits a reverse natural cycle (damn). To date, there have been 14 natural cycles, and 6 reverse natural cycles. Estrada had a record streak of 13 straight starts going 5+ innings, giving up no more than 5 hits, which was snapped today (5 IP, 5 H). Feel bad for Cleveland though. Neither teams refilled their roster with fresh arms from the minors, and starter McAllister went just an inning. Would've been interesting if Kluber started; 2 SP both with a WHIP <1.00. Regarding the call at the plate (which was the difference maker), looks damn close. Initially I thought he was out, but looking closer, it looks like the catcher only applied the tag with the seams of the glove (does that count). http://m.mlb.com/video/v884080083/c... ---
Tomorrow, MIA-ATL played at Fort Bragg. I predict Miami will win. BTW: Did you guys see Fernandez's game winning double yesterday? |
|
Jul-03-16
 | | WannaBe: Good matchup between ChiCubs and NYM today, I will be at the COL/LAD game. =) |
|
Jul-03-16
 | | Phony Benoni: I do believe the Indians are beginning to make up for that winning streak. |
|
| Jul-03-16 | | Jim Bartle: If the Browns win their first two games this season we'll know something is up. |
|
Jul-04-16
 | | perfidious: <Jim> We would well and truly know that the fix is in. |
|
Jul-05-16
 | | WannaBe: There aren't enough BoSox on AL All-Star team, need at least 10 more. 3 LADs made it, but Kershaw's on DL. Token Padre Will Myers. |
|
Jul-05-16
 | | perfidious: This is the first All Star appearance for three of the four Red Sawx named to start the game. It is hardly going out on a limb to state that there will be other ASGs for that trio; some fine young talent. According to CBSSports, Zach Britton is a right-handed reliever. All those times I have seen him pitch, could have fooled me. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/2... |
|
Jul-05-16
 | | WannaBe: <perfidious> You mean he actually throws left-handed? |
|
Jul-05-16
 | | Phony Benoni: The last three times the Tigers have faced the Indians, they have come into the series on winning streakes of 5, 4, and 6 games. They are now 0-10, and trailing 6-0 tonight.
Perhaps it's not all bad to lose to one team if you beat up on everyone else. But this is getting frustrating. |
|
Jul-05-16
 | | WannaBe: Wouldn't be so bad if only play them 5, or 6 times a year... Like LAD v NYM, or StL, or ChiCubs. |
|
Jul-05-16
 | | WannaBe: This one is for <Phony Benoni>: <Eddie Matz
ESPN Senior Writer
The Nationals might be the beast of the East, but they can't solve the Brewers. Following a 5-2 loss to Milwaukee, the Nats are now 1-4 against the Brew Crew, making them the only sub-.500 team that Washington is sub-.500 against this season.> |
|
Jul-05-16
 | | Penguincw: Interesting selections. :)
Of course, there's always going to be surprises (good and bad), and how people (like me), think fan voting and World Series home field advantage should not <both> exist, but I'm just going to end up ranting. But one surprise for me is that Yadier Molina (whose numbers are down this year), did not even make the cut, despite <leading the position at the last update>. I imagine 2nd place in fan voting isn't worth anything, so that's probably why. Me and <PB> will be "at battle", as Saunders and Kinsler are among the Final Vote candidates. His team will also be north of the border for 4 games right before the All-Star game. ---
BTW: A little while ago, I mentioned that I picked up a copy of MLB 10: The Show, and played RTTS mode. Well, I'm at the All-Star break for 2011, and this league isn't even recognizable anymore. My player (a 1B) got selected by the Orioles, but has been traded to the Tigers (still in AAA though, as I'm a horrible video game player). I don't remember the agreements to the trade. The Tigers recently made a deal that sent Miguel Cabrera (.235/10 HR/39 RBI at the All Star break) and Marc Rzepczynski to the Red Sox for Darnell McDonald and some computer created player. For the Red Sox, Kevin Youkilis is the first baseman, but Cabrera doesn't have to worry about David Ortiz, because Ortiz and Clayton Kershaw are with the Mets. The MLB Tigers are currently in a 3-way race for the AL Central, along with the Cleveland Indians and the Albert Pulojs led Minnesota Twins. No, I'm not making this stuff up. It's a weird game... |
|
Jul-05-16
 | | WannaBe: Must be one of the alternate universe deal. Kershaw with them Metropolitans(?!!?). Is that like 2010 version of Tim Lincecum pitching for the Dodgers?? |
