WannaBe: Sorry for the continuing posting, but I was at the game, where R. Peete faked the knee down against Ucla. That school is nothing but cheats. See P. Carroll that 'fled' to Seattle when crap hit the fan.

Jul-09-19  thegoodanarchist: <Count Wedgemore: <WannaBe> I don't know when he said this, but the player he referred to was probably Emanuel Lasker.>

You're right, <CW>, it was Em. Lasker. I read it in Fischer's article about the 10 best chess players of all time.

Tarrasch was one of the ten, as were Spassky and Tal.

Jul-09-19  thegoodanarchist: At least, I think that's where I read it. Was a long time ago.
Jul-10-19  diceman: <Hodor:

Why hasn't California made earthquakes illegal, yet?>

Disaster relief dollars.

Jul-10-19  diceman: <thegoodanarchist: At least, I think that's where I read it. Was a long time ago.>

Looks like it was related to Lasker and
Botvinnik(and any other long-term champ)

Which is why Fischer used <a man> vs naming the player.

Aug-02-19  Count Wedgemore: American Football is surely a much better cure for insomnia.

I mean, 10-15 seconds of action, then 1-2 minutes break in the play. Then the action commences again..for up to 10 seconds!! Then a break in the play..after a minute or two, we'll have 10 more seconds of action!! Yuhuu!! Then..a commercial break for the next five minutes. Then..

Yep, by now I'd sleep like a baby.

WannaBe: Both Pliny the younger and elder are real beer, they tend to sell out quick(ly) as both are popular in NorCal.

Great to see Pearls give a shout-out to Russian River (Yes, it's a real place in NorCal) breweries!!

The breaks in the action in chess last much longer, sometimes up to an hour or more. Yet you still watch?

The breaks in football are not usually 1-2 minutes. The play clock is only 40 seconds.

When a 300+ pound guy hits you, you'll probably feel like you put in more than an 8-hour day. :)

Do you know my favourite Mexican book??

Tequila Mockingbird.

Sep-07-19  thegoodanarchist: Good one! LM_F_AO!
Sep-13-19  technical draw: Hello my good friend <WannaBe>! Have you noticed that the New York Yankees are on a pace to win 100 games and the American League Pennant?

But do not despair! Your LA Dodgers are also on pace to win 100 games!

Let's hope for a Yankees/Dodgers world series. That would be awesome.

Cheers my good friend and cheers to all my friends here at chessgames.
